Not a first. Sorry to dis you blokes but we skied the dunes at Mazartag in the middle of the desert in 1993. We used cross country skis, much smoother on the sand. Bigger dunes than yours too. Sino-Brit Taklamakan Desert Crossing, led by a bloke called Blackmore.
