This channel functions as one of my digital portfolios for Game Art and Design. I am a freelancing illustrator and animator. If you wish you can find out more about me and my work on my website (www.2dpixx.de).
Please enjoy some insights and hopefully be entertained and/or inspired by my Making-Ofs and Timelapse Drawings of various assets specializing in 2D.
I create art assets for digital games using various techniques like vector graphics, classic pixel art and digital handpainted art. However I am not restricted to it. Besides this low poly 3D art as well as designs for analog card or board games extend my interests and service offers.
Enjoy your stay on my channel and stay creative :)
All the best.
Jana

Wow it’s so hard 😢
Thank you for the comment! Do not worry every skill that is worth pursuing is somehow complicated to do, but you get comfortable with it over time. Also do not forget a challenge can sometimes be more fun than something that is easy to do. Best unasked advice: Keep doing what you love and if you discover you don't love it - stop it :) There are things like game art people find interesting, but not everybody wants to create it. A lot of people just enjoy the talking and observing part. That is fine as well. Anyway thanks again!
Beautiful work, incredible use of sprites to build low poly in blender
Thank you very much for the kind comment :)
Your music and artstyle reminds me of assasins creed altairs chronicle mobile
Thanks :)
you are incredibly talented
and you are incredibly kind :) thank you for the motivating comment!
yeah i like this! keep it up!
thanks for the kind comment :) glad it was interesting!
Absolutely incredible to watch! How long did this take in real time?
Thanks for commenting so kindly and showing an interest :) Full disclosure: - 5.5 hours in video recording. If you think about multiple short breaks in between and time spend thinking, conceptualizing and looking at references it will certainly be around 8-10 hours I spent with this.
Hello! which version of blender are you using?
Hi there :) Blender 2.82 Sprytile works quite good with that, but it also crashed for me once, so make sure to save whenever you finish a step.
Great job! what software do you use?
thanks firedragon. it is goxel :) free, open source, cross platform. let me know if you work with it. always interested in what others do.
@@2dpixx yeah ill be down to give it ago will help when making stuff for 3d godot XD
Please I have one simple question please sorry for disturbing you but how do u animate with goxel
sorry for the late reply. as far as i know. you don't. goxel has no animation integrated. you can however export your voxel models to obj and animate them in any other 3d tool like blender for example.
The chill music is nice 😴
yeah i always try to find good music from great artists and spread the word about their work a little. there are a lot of great open tracks out there made by unknown artists. so i agree. great music.
Wat app are you bro please
replied on your other comment. goxel. hope you create some nice stuff with it. if so let me know!
Please wat app is that
sorry for the late reply. it is goxel. just google voxel editor or the name and you will find it :) or click this link here: goxel.xyz/
Nice work!
Thank you!
Software??
this is done in goxel, a free and open source voxel editor: goxel.xyz/
@@2dpixx Thank you
I think a way to make them look even better is to start with a shaded pixel art sprite. Recently someone converted Doom sprites into voxels, and because they have shading they look *amazing*.
i agree on the shading approach. thanks for the input! just trying to get comfortable with this technique currently, so i have no immediate ambition to get it perfect style-wise.
They look great!👍
Thank you calig :)
my god is her spine ok xd
Nice!
thank you!
Crazy good job in a single go for this sprite
thank you for the nice feedback! it is appreciated very much :)

thank you for the kindness :)
nice work :o
thank you for the nice comment :)
Good job! I'd like to have that drawing skill haha. What software did you use to animate it?
Thank you for the kind comment. If you want to have these skills, you will be able to learn. Anybody can :) It is just a matter of time and if you enjoy the work. I did not use any tool specifically for animation. It is just classic frame by frame work. You can do a lot with 4 slightly altered frames.
Very cool! I'm starting my journey into learning how to do isometric art wish me luck ^^
Sure: Best of luck on your journey :) Isometric art is very simple once you get the initial understanding of the perspective. Imho it ensures some impressive looking creations, even so it is "just" 2D :) You will have a lot of fun with it!
Bro why ? Use midjourney instead
Wonderful job
Thank you :)
nice job dude
Thanks!
incredible process! Thank you for sharing 🧡 Also love to see how a different program behaves with vector art.
thank you that is very kind of you to say :3 I guess most people use adobe illustrator, but Inkscape is really cool and I personally prefer it :) had a look at your website. you are doing cool stuff as well!

huhu, where/in which program do you put this together? At the end of the video. Greetings
Hi sure it is no secret: I am using tiled map editor here. It is a tile mapping solution that is supported via importer tools by most popular engines. The game engines themselves have tile solutions, but I think it is better to work with universal formats as an artist and be able to work for different clients. Also from a project management perspective it is better to do things externally where ever possible to be more portable in the long run www.mapeditor.org/
Great job! If only it were so easy to make such a game without all the damned code.
Thank you very much for this kind comment :) Everything is complicated I am afraid :/ Not only Code, but also Graphics, Music, Design, Marketing and so on. The trick is to gather people who are experts in their fields and get them together in a functioning team! I don't believe in the "stand-alone-game-dev-wunderkind". We all have to depend on others. That being said, I understand it can be frustrating to work in very specialized jobs, you really have to know a lot. Get coding my friend! You can do it!
Always good stuff
Thank you! Comments like this are a great support, despite my own motivation for art, so thank you for taking the time to leave a kind message. Hope you are having a great day and stay creative!
😲Can make a tutorial on how to start with pixel art please?
Hi Ryu :) thank you for having such confidence in me that you are asking for a tutorial. Sadly I have to disappoint you :/ My channel is just a portfolio channel. I am not an educator myself, just a practitioner. Even if I would create some tutorials, I don't feel like I could contribute a meaningful addition to the knowledge already available online, provided by people who are already great educators. Have a look over at www.youtube.com/@AdamCYounis I would say he is pretty great at providing some insights to newbies. One advice about learning pixel art I can give you directly: Don't look at it at anything special. Pixel Art is just illustration that basically follows the same rules of shape, texture, light, proportion, as you would see in any other 2d art techniques out there. The only thing different: It is on very low resolution and the pixels every image consists of are directly visible as clear squared shapes. There are a few things like dithering or line work you have to read up on, but other than that you can basically start learning illustration basics and it is as good a start as anything :) Stay creative and I wish you the best of luck! I am sure you are able to do great things with pixel art if you just start using it!
@@2dpixx Thank you so much for your advice ❤️

Thank you sir for this Ragnarok online flashback, im ready to go to glastheim farm them undeads again :) <3
Thank you :) be sure to have holy light on your skill bar :) I loved playing classic RO back in the day, but I can't claim it was an inspiration for this one. Than again influences happen consciously and subconsciously ;) Anyway I am honored by the connection you made.
LOVE this so much!
I am honored by your comment my friend :) Thank you for your kindness.
Amazing!
Thank you for the kind approval :)
Nice work🎉
Thank you Tausdei :)
Hi Jana. It's really wonderful and humbling to find my work being used across the internet. That specific track is one of my favourites.
Oh wow! Thank you! I am truly humbled by a talent like you commenting on my small welcome video on here :) I am deeply thankful for musicians like you who allow the use of their work in that way and honestly it helps me a lot with the confidence in my own presentation :) I genuinely hope your music is used well and is respectfully embedded in great projects. You earned it!
good video, but you can make a character for video games but slow down the video, something simple, and what size do you make the isometric cubes, what sizes are the characters in the video?
Hey thank you for leaving some feedback. That is very kind. The size of the frame is 128x160px. The character is just fitted inside of this and scaled to the environment I previously created. You can watch that here: ua-cam.com/video/AuoP8-aCkik/v-deo.htmlsi=k00V-aPMcLmxyLqf Also if you want to know more you can just download the asset via Open Game Art here and have a look at it directly: opengameart.org/content/warrior-animated-character-isometric Thanks again!
Is that a starbound background paralax?
Thanks for your interest, to be honest I did not even know starbound before I read your comment. All assets on here, regardless of if you are seeing them as part of the timelapse or just within the end results presented, are done by myself completely. I do not use any assets on here from other games nor do I have a connection to starbound specifically. Thanks again for the question so, I also certainly do not mind to be compared to art from successful games, so I take it as a compliment.
how can i learn this art?
Hey. Great that you are interested in learning :) If you are completely new to this, I would suggest you start at learning about vector art as a technique and afterwards get into learning about isometric perspective. These are the two keys you have to understand to create game assets like this. I am not a tutorial channel, but there are a lot of good tutorials on UA-cam for these topics. They are of such good quality that I would struggle to do something better. Although I hope my timelapse videos help people out in learning as well, I mostly create them for a general insight to my workflow. Especially for professional clients. As a additional note: Everything takes time to learn, so please give yourself the time you need and build a solid foundation before delving into specific topics. We all learn differently, but foundations are always good to have :) Best of luck!
@@2dpixx thanks for the advice, can you sugest a good channel to start from ground zero, i'm basically new to this
@@snaiktavares5356 I am not sure what level you are at exactly, but if you are not new to digital art and only new to game asset creations, you might find these channels interesting: www.youtube.com/@Gdquest www.youtube.com/@2dgameartguru These are really great people sharing insights on their talents and great tutorials for game artists. If you are specifically interested in vector-based isometric art, you might also want to have a read here: 2dgameartguru.com/building-isometric-art-in-vectors-step-1/ I create my art specifically with open source tools like Inkscape and Krita. So it might also be helpful to you to have a look at beginners tutorials for these. It's a lot to learn if you are completely new, but the important thing is to find the motivation and just start anywhere. Everything else is just a matter of the time you are willing to invest. Good luck on your start :)
@@2dpixx thanks very much for the help i will digg'in right now and i'm new to digital art
