Thank you for this! I have some slubby yarn in my stash just waiting for the right project, and I feel much more capable of picking a good project now I have these tips! ❤
You are very welcome. If you haven't already, take a look at the linked blog post. I cover a load more in there with text and images. Just about to finish up a post on knitting with boucle yarn too, incase you have some of that lurking on your stash too!
I like this - nice hack ❤
Thanks Tamara! Yet another crochet hack that I wish I knew 10 years ago! It makes such a difference to the final look and keeping stitch counts right.
Great tip! Thank-you
Thank you! I wish I had known this technique 10 years ago!
How many centimeters? Can't see the foot length
Why do you need to see my foot length? The point is to measure your own.
I measured mine... But i think your taller than mine.... I guess your is 26cm?
👋🏽 ummm… was that Jimmy Perez’ house? 🥃⭐️
It is the best!
I am about to load up videos for Whip stitch and zig-zag stitch. They have their place too, but for flawless sewn joins, only mattress stitch will do!
Thank you; good tip about tension.
Glad you liked it. I am trying to make these videos short but helpful. All content, no fluff!
I often wonder if you can graft crochet stitches on the top part of crochet mittens
You can. I am hoping to show that off in a separate tutorial. I have specifically labelled this one for knitting so that I can do a crochet version with crocheted fabric. It also works for seaming up panelled crocheted garments. 🙂
👋🏾
Hello you!
Thank you for this! I am a beginner and trying to make socks for the first time
Poor volume on your microphone, sorry.
And again! I am planning to crochet some plain placemats for my garden setting table and with your fabulous tip, I’ll be able to produce a neat edge without having to add an extra border edging! This will make the little embroideries stand out even more in their simplicity!
I promise you that moving to starting stitches will elevate your crochet to a whole new level! I have already recorded the footage for starting htr and tr too, so keep an eye out for that. The other beauty of starting stitches is that they have very defined places to crochet in to if you did want to add a border. Everything gets neater with starting stitches.I would love to see your finished placemats, they sound lovely.
Absolutely tremendous! What a revelation, I had no idea! I’ve just put your video on my iPad reading list and will add it in my crafting book where I compile and collect great ideas, tips, suggestions and dream makes! With all my gratitude!🧶🤗🌸
Hello! I am so glad you like the video. There are many, many more to come and if you click on the drop down, they are usually supported by a blogpost that has the video, photos and a written set of instructions. The whole idea is to create short and useful videos. You don't need my life story, you just want to know how to do the thing! Enjoy! x
Remember that many people are disabled and often cannot put their full body weight through their foot. "The measurement should be taken standing up, if you can" would suffice.
You make a valid point. I have added it to the long form video captions and the blog post. I'll see if I can add it to the description of the shorts, but it's being bit tricksy ATM. Thanks for taking the time to point that out to me.
@@faydhdesigns Thank you! ❤️ Xx
This looks great! I'm keen to watch You might wanna change "hot" to "how" though 🙂
Thanks for that! :-)
You go for it girl ,I find it so degrading people saying crochet is what your granny does yes I am a granny But I was a teenager when I learnt this craft so for you to put it on the eye level shelf would wonderful, looking forward to some lovely garment patterns.
I put off watching this as I knew it was the last one and I'd get all weepy! Plucked up courage today and glad I did. Looking forward to seeing what comes next Faye. If you ever decide to come back I'm sure you'll have a loyal following waiting for you. Sending hugs J xx
I’ll miss your monthly podcasts but I understand how things move on and progress. Wishing you all the best in your future. Your designs have really turned a corner and I am certain that you will make an impact on crochet in the future. I am mainly a knitter and a novice crocheter so I wouldn’t have the confidence to test crochet your beautiful jumper. Take care ❤
Love your podcast Faye oh no not another podcaster going there have been so many best of luck though you won't need it hope to see you again very soon xx
The rosy pink yarn that has yellow in it reminds me of a sweater I was given by a friend. It was made with a purple strand and an orange strand of lace weight yarn held together. It made the color of the sweater look pink, unless you looked very closely. I am going to miss your videos, but I will be following your pinterest so I can keep up with your awesome designs.
Well! What an end of an era! I've been watching these videos since the start and I can't imagine not having you to listen to / talk about crochet every month! Best of luck with all your next endeavours ❤️❤️❤️
So sad, I love your podcast and learned so much from you and been inspired to make new things. Currently working on your Positivity tam hat! Just bought Moorit magazine in Edinburgh on my trip to Scotland as well so thank you for introducing me to it. Looking forward to see what is coming next
Hey. Finally found time to watch this and starts with a big surprise. But i am happy you make the changes that feel right for you. Love your new cowl patter. I would also love to test crochet for you, because I want to support what you do. Have a lovely day. Maybe see you on the weekend if i am not in a traib
Super congratulations! I look forward to continuing to follow you, receiving your emails, buying your patterns & making from your patterns. You have increased my skills & more importantly my confidence.
Sorry to hear this is your last podcast but I wish you all the best for your new plans! I've learnt loads from your podcasts - they have been such an inspiration and pleasure to watch! Best wishes and thank you! x
I’ll say goodbye to the crochet circle podcast but I’m not saying goodbye to you Fay! I’ll be here continuing to support you during this next phase! I’ve always loved old dog new tricks and it’s so exciting to hear you’ll have time to get stuck into more research and it wouldn’t be Fay driven if it wasn’t presented in multiple ways for all types of people just like your patterns plus now you’ll have the time to write so many more!! I hope you are proud of all you’ve done so far, and it’s going to be great to see what you achieve next.
Leave it to our lovely Faye to make sure every pattern has 509 variations so we can all end up with the most perfect fit. Thank you for your attention to detail and your determination to make things truely inclusive. As usual a wonderful podcast. It will be missed, but I’m so excited to see all of what you get up to in the future.
Sorry to be losing your podcasts but understand why. Your owl bag is going to be fantastic, wow, it’s a lovely piece of needlework! Look forward to the spiral jumper. From now on whenever I do my cuffs and ribs I will think of orifices!! Have you time to go to Yarndale this year? Take care Fay 💕
I wish you all the best for your future endeavours 😊 I have only discovered this channel recently but will definitely go back and watch the previous episodes. See you at the Global Hook Ups 🥰
From the first episode all those years ago, you set the bar and brought to our craft nothing but excellence year after year. You will be missed dear friend, but I know you will do great things for our craft. Never believe that you have not left your mark with all you have accomplished. I look forward to seeing all the wonderful things you will bring to those of us who call Crochet home. With your talent, drive, and passion for our beloved craft, the sky is the limit! Sending you the biggest hug.
One last time, as Washington would sing…. Waving to you back!xx
I will miss Pompom!😢😥( And you, too, of course!) Not another serious crochet podcast trying to teach and promote crochet out there.☹️ I'm not on Instagram or pinterest but will certainly follow your blog and maybe venture out to see you on those. I do both crochet and knit, but crochet was first, and I still feel more comfortable with it and wish more combined clothes were out there. Love your makes, and have seen all your podcasts as you progressed. 💕💕💕
Thankyou Faye! Such a hard decision for you and certainly one that you have spend many hours thinking about. Your podcast has meant the world to me and I will follow you whatever direction you go. See you in the Global Hookup 😘
Best of luck!
Such a difficult podcast for you and I was waving back at the end feeling a little sad. I don't always watch, but when I do I love what I see. Your patterns looks amazing and can't wait for them to be published as I will definitely be gifting them to my daughter. CONGRATULATIONS on your changes moving forward and excited to be see that content. On a side note I've been wondering about english paper piecing after watching Kate of The Last Homely House and I am in awe at your owl piece -- it is gorgeous.
I put off watching because I knew this was the last podcast which made me sad but it was exciting to hear your new plans. Your positivity jumper looks amazing. Looking forward to the cowl and mitts pattern too. Thank you for 79 amazing podcasts. Off to investigate Pinterest as never really used it. See you in the hookups.
At least we can go back and rewatch! You always share so much helpful information. Thanks for your podcast!
I’m sad for me but happy and excited for you. You have to do what keeps your creativity flowing and gives you joy! 🧶💕🧶. Thanks for all your hard work and all you’ve shared of yourself all this time. You go girl!!!!
Hi Fay 👋 a great podcast as always! You always work so hard and we all appreciate the skills and enthusiasm you share with us. Looking forward to following you on IG and global hooks as before and of course you new ventures! 🧶 xxx
It was so hard not to get emotional! I blame the hormones! I will so miss the monthly podcast but I'm super excited to see what you have up your sleeve! If anyone can put a stamp on crochet and put it out there, it's you. Your mittens, I can see me and my little mini me rocking them together! And the jumper looks AMAZING!!! I'm glad the hook ups are staying, it's a lovely community to be part of. Looking forward to the next chapter 😊 👋👋👋
I really had to try hard to not cry. But when I pressed publish, I felt sad and excited and tats when you know you are stopping something at the right time! You can bet I am going to be there pushing crochet forward! x
Sad to hear this is your last podcast for now. Thank you so much for all your wonderful episodes. So much enthousiasm about your crafting. Good luck with everything that comes next!
Thank you for all the crochet-filled years of crafting together and inspiring us. And for all the hard work. xx
No, thank you for being a constant part of the Crochet Clan and pushing me forward every month. x
I'm very excited about the next chapter of your quest to get crochet to be taken seriously. That's a goal I'd like to achieve too. Thank you for the fun and encouragement throughout your podcasts. I'll try to keep up and find you, whichever platform you use. I adore your crochet jumper. I'd love to test it for you.
Your owl project bag is going to be a one of a kind gorgeous heirloom!! I'm loving it... really much!
I may need a tawny owl version too...
Hello! Can't say I'm not going to miss my monthly viewing. But I know you are going to smash this and I'm really looking forward to what you do next. Thank you so much for everything you do for crochet. Ps I definitely see my whole family having those mitts and cowls. I'm going to Yarndale and allowed myself 1 purchase so watch this space 😃
Thank you! You are going to have a blast at Yarndale! I have had to admit defeat this morning on the 4ply mittens (all to do with hook size and stitch length with the pattern), but the DK ones are going to be there and are very squishy and quick to make. I'll pass the pattern to you as son as I have a tech edited version back from Deb! xx
FAY! Well done. You have shared your skills, knowledge, joy, and stardom with us all this time. We are the better for it. I won't say best of luck, for I know you will knock down walls no matter where you are or what you are doing. I will say, do what you love and love what you do. The moment this is no longer true, change lanes. I will be lurking on social media! Loads of waves and pounding hearts from Austin, TX to you! I am very excited to see the upcoming and new!
Thanks Margarita for the lovely words! You can bet I will continue to knock down walls. I am a huge believer in change and sticking to what lights you up and brings enthusiasm and joy. Waving back at ya! xx

Bravo Faye on the new sweater design! I am so excited! These are the moments that I have been waiting for since I was a kid with a crochet hook making amigurumi and granny squares. Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you for giving crochet its due! Can’t wait to hook up the new design!
