The guy who made it clear that it’s super cool to be Canadian. rip Gord!
I feel so nostalgic watching this
Miss the band 💙
💞💞💞💞💞💞❣
Thank you, Canada. Don't know how I never really heard much of these guys until now, despite living up in Wisconsin for a few years in the mid 1990s. Kind of glad yinz kept them as your own, though. It's a good reminder for me as a U.S.ian that our northern neighbor has their own mysterious loves we can't ever fully understand, and certainly can't co-opt. Very cool. What a great song writer, performer & band of true friends. I feel like I just discovered some secret treasure.
A true masterpiece. RIP Gord!
I was at a party with a bunch of English teachers who were in Japan for the JET program. This was in 1997. A an American teacher said to me I don't get the Hip. All you Canadians put it on at parties. She thought they were no better than her high school grunge bad in Ohio. I was taken aback at the time but all these years later I wish had said this: I guess you need to be Canadian to get it. They make me proud of my history. The documentary out this year gave me a better sense of how remarkable these musicians were.

Also this movie (which I mainly like and prefer over the show), along with school of rock, nacho libre and the adventures of Tintin are the only paramount movies that I like now (also only three for the ones also done by Nickelodeon movies).
i love love love love the hot air balloon story... "and everyone was there to cheer when it landed". at 1:25:35 ua-cam.com/video/sWqlD8prGH4/v-deo.htmlsi=10WbAVY6hOs2uPdY&t=5133
Loved living on the Border this time.
I remember the first time I heard The Hip, 1991, Road Apples.
51:50 I'm a little confused, Kevin Drew is alluding to the lyrics from the songs Flamenco/Bobcaygeon, two songs which were released in 1996 (Trouble at the henhouse) & 1998 (Phantom Power) as though they are improvised or some how new lyrics? (I find his astonishment for these two isolated lyrics odd as these songs came out 20 years prior) For a lot of Hip fans the 1990s were peak for them but the subsequent albums in the 00s are also outstanding. So I'm a perplexed by his remarks here as though he had "a little more smoke". Those subsequent albums are Music At Work, In Violet Light, In Between Evolution, World Container, We are the same and Now for plan A. In what context to Gord's health and these concerts is remarking on those humorous lines significant? (Unless he's implying that at the time in the late 90s they may have run out of witty lyrics? I'd find that bizarre and almost have second hand embarrassment for him if it were the case) and then he works on Man Machine poem in 2016 and it's as far back at 1998 that he fondly remembers some lyrics as though they may have been the last decent lyrics The Hip would write? Given the material between 1998 - 2016 I find that very weird.
😢
Love the Hip and rest in peace Gord you are deeply missed❤
Why do the great ones get taken so early 🫤
The band’s music is part of our dna now🎁

It is time for Trudeau to go along with the ideological agenda. He has done nothing to help the northern people. He now is encouraging the nato countries to allow missiles to be fired into Russia. That poking of an angry bear will not go well for the people of the north. Hypocrites are easy to spot. Look at the narcissistic grin upon his face. Power has gone to his head he is a fool and a man of broken promises. He promised Mr. Downey that something would be done. Instead he has embarrassed our nation and done absolutely no good anywhere. He does not represent me as a proud Canadian. He did not represent the wishes of the Canadian poet. The ideology of the residential schools and the ideology of our Marxist PM are one and the same…..Jesuitical…..Rosicrucian… malevolent…..pharisaical rubbish.
Thank you The songs of my whole life. First concert at Richardson stadium as well as the best when they did almost home at fort henry. Truly missed

i’m watching this for the fourth time ...i haven’t watched the new doc yet...i think i’m not ready. something just occurred to me..throughout this entire tour and especially the airing of this specific doc there was no forwardness of monetary gain that happened. obviously ticket sales happened but i feel like the thought of...”how can many companies make a ton of money off of this?” never really happened and if it did it wasn’t in the countries face like usual. i dunno if that makes sense. i just feel like as a country we just wanted to celebrate this special man and this special band and our country. and i like that. thanks for posting 🇨🇦 🎩
30 minutes before their last concert we shut all kitchen service down. Only shots or beer aloud. I love this band. I've been crying a lot
Jesus im crying again watching this.
Thanks for this. Behind the scenes..always an eye opener..Gord was so brave.
The Tragically Hip touched my life. I was too young to get in, but I remember the Lakeview Manor where they got their start. I remember Smalltown Bringdown being such a low-key hit and the top 40 station, 1380 CKLC, in Kingston playing the song, especially during evening rotation. I later worked at said radio station and boy we proudly played a lot of Hip. I remember going to my local Metro grocery store on Princess Street and there's Rob Baker getting his own groceries, like everyone else. I got to play pick up hockey with a few of the guys in the band. There was no talk about the band or music. They were just there to play hockey. They are all incredibly talented and have the ability to be extremely confident without arrogance. I am now in my own battle with stage 4 cancer. Of course, I look forward to seeing my relatives in the next life, and really hope Gord might belt out a few tunes for me too!
My son has the same type of terminal brain cancer 😢❤
So sorry to hear that. Hopefully he can draw some inspiration from how Gord dealt with his illness.❤

I was fortunate to live my formative years Musically in northern Vermont 1 mile from the Canadian border in the early 90’s. The Hip were a HUGE part of the scene there. Everyone regardless of your background LOVED The Hip. There may have been bigger bands worldwide but in the history of rock, I’m not sure any band came in, left a spot in people’s hearts, and left with people being able to say goodbye and honor and thank them the way they did for the hip. I’ve tried to introduce people to them since but I’ve come to understand you had to be part of it to understand. And I only am lucky enough to have been close enough to the Canadian culture to latch on. Long live The Hip!!
🥰
I grew up there. I saw them in the beginning at the Toucan. I've worked on your house Paul. I've worked on your house Rob. I helped build Gordy's sisters place... Kingston everybody... KINGSTON! The Mayor is a fucking moron. Capitalize on that? Good job Tweety bird. You are behind by a century!
