I ran Steam as administrator, opened up Project Nexus, opened up the level we were going to play, pressed esc, pressed shift + tab, pressed "friends", pressed "invite anyone to play", pressed "Invite a Friend", clicked on my friend's profile, my friend clicked on the invite link, his profile showed up in the remote play tab under players, he connected a controller to his PC, I clicked on the keyboard and mouse icons under his username to turn them off, clicked on the controller icon under his username to turn it on, he pressed the start button on his controller (this probably is different for each controller, so check which button is the start button by clicking "controller settings"), I clicked no on the prompt asking that controllers want to take over host controls, and then pressed esc again. Every time we went to a different level, I had to press esc, he had to press the start button and then the start button again, I had to click no on the prompt, and then press esc again. Also, remote play is very laggy, so I set the quality to very low, set anti-alias to None, and set resolution to 1280 x 720. Hope this helps!
