My team plays ST, CAM, CDM, CB, and GK for 5v5

Push your defender up! Why do you keep them in front of the keeper? Once the ball has passed the halfway line, the defender is still in option while the team is attacking. This is just teaching the defender to stay back and it will hinder their development. Once the team is playing 9v9 or 11v11, your giving the opposition tons of space in transition and a well coached team will take advantage of the space you give them.

With U8 you don't have a goalie but we're playing 5v5, so what would be the best formation?

I'll recommend you to play 2 back 2 front, don't play Dimond. Because my u8 team play Dimond before and the result is very bad, maybe 10 gams we are able to win 3-4 games but after we change to 2back 2 front now we are winning 80% of the games. I don't say Dimond formation is bad but Dimond need very skillful players and players who understanding the game.

My team's cadence was slightly different. After we broke huddle the team would go to their positions based on the play called. The QB would yell "ready." The interior line would get in what we called hook up position. That is crouched down but no hands on the field. The QB would yell set. Then the line would get into their three point stance (one hand on the field). Next the QB would say the count to start the play.

I love this. But one thing you're not taking into account is the "clumping" factor. I coach 1st grade girls and they love to clump up. Even if I could teach them the diamond formation, the other team would clump too, thus throwing off the structure of my team. Clumping causes chaos. please Teach us how to battle the diamond formation against a clumping team. That would be very helpful. My other question is how do you serve the ball in the diamond formation? Does the striker kick the ball to a midfield player?

As a parent, I watched this from the sidelines. The practice of this cannot take clumping into account, but scrimmages might. The kids don't understand the exercise of pretending to do the wrong thing. What you can coach is quickly kicking the ball backwards to the back defender or goalie (depending on how much you trust the goalie!!), and coaching those players to transition to the other midfielder.
