    same thing happened to me. When I screened Black Kow , it looked like beaver manure not cow manure.

    black kow is the worst. local nursery composted cow manure is much better. black kow is always at least half wood mulch/chips

    I got a bad bag. I tried 3 different brands and they all were full of junk. I sifted them all (major labor) and pulled the junk out.

    If you apply it to the top of the soil (no dig) and don’t till it in it will actually be pretty good for your soil. There is no need to till in amendments.

    Not surprising of this. Keep in mind many mfgs have processing plants at various locations and buy manure or composting materials from different vendors and occassionally when product is not available they may use an alternate vendor. This does happen. Additionally when the label says "manure" this can be a marketing labeling gimmick but contains other ingredients such as sand, bark, or other materials. The reason the don't always tell you of what it contains is part of their trade secrets.

      @@seedsofjudah I've heard of Grazon issues with Black Kow and other issues in another video. I used to buy food from a farm that was close by to me, which was apparently close by to Black Kow HQ, so the farm sold this fertilizer as well as used it. They were really organic and strict, so it's a shame to read all these negatives about Black Kow. I contacted them when I first was starting and it didn't seem to be for me. I'm EXTREMELY STRICT when it comes to amendments. One Manure brand I've heard great things about, as well as I purchased a bag, is "Bu's Blend Biodynamic Compost" by "MalibuCompost."

    Watch out the epa allows sewage sludge to be labeled as compost on bagged compost for sale. They don’t have to disclose if sewage sludge aka biosolids is used in Any gardening product. Corruption in Washington DC is so bad the EPA is just another group of gangsters on the take.

    • @seedsofjudah
      @seedsofjudah 2 місяці тому

      I was not aware sewage sludge was allowed to be labeled as compost! You never know what you're getting in those bags I have not purchased any bagged compost this garden season. Ive been doing my own compost! What have you been using?

    • @hanzketchup859
      @hanzketchup859 2 місяці тому

      @@seedsofjudah I’ve been using both, I just recently found out about the EPA regulation 503, I also have my own compost pile but my space is limited. I’ve been researching about how to deal with it, but theres nothing there to find other than the bio solids have been processed into a safe material, no real clarity on how they do it, basically they heat it up, kinda bake it incrementally. To me it’s disturbing that the distinction between human waste and decomposing plant matter has been blurred, redefined and finalized by the EPA. I know human urea is a potent fertilizer and is safe for growing plants for human consumption, but still just like everything you have to know how to use it. Hopefully there will be some real research on this issue and what the precautions should be. The Truth is first hand knowledge and when I look at my garden, everything is thriving, plants, insects, birds, the rascal squirrels, my little biosphere is doing ok after all these years so I’m hopeful that the bio solids, if present, are not harmful to my/our environment. It would just be nice if the EPA would not be so cloak and dagger about their regulations and research. It makes me distrustful of them. Cheers, chin up, chest out!

    That's a really bad batch, and not cow manure at all. It’s so sad how companies can just cut their product with garbage and charge just as much or even more. It's all marketing with black Kow and not a superior product. They aren’t cheap either but that product is totally inferior. It's probably shredded free pallet wood to that makes up that bag.

    I had a similar experience after purchasing 2 bags from my local ACE, there were many sticks as large as 1/4" in diameter, large wood chips, and a pile of rocks and gravel at the bottom. It was garbage, no better than the ACE brand.

    This has nothing to do with Black Kow, sometimes stores have to go through 3rd parties to get the product and these companies take out the product and replace it with something completely different, never order things like this online, especially through Amazon because they always go through many vendors and sellers and always replace the product, they even have the ability to reseal the bags and you would never be able to tell…

It's almost 6 bucks a bag here, and right next to it is compost/manure for $2.56 a bag and it works just as good, if not better than the Black Kow. God bless yall and I hope you have an abundant year!

I’m going to the old ways to just buy it through local farms.

    You bed cows on what is cheapest, wood chips is probably a very normal thing to find in it. Horse manure mixed with straw goes to the mushroom farms. You don't want all those grass and maybe weed seeds.

    Thank you for this informative video. This is the 2nd video I came across (that was suggested to me via YT). In the first video the narrator mentioned that she got what seemed like good quality manure in a Black Kow bag vs Earthgro. It would reckon that mass production will always have its issues so what I intend to do a cut a bag open and check the quality of the manure BEFORE I leave the store. Of course I would rebag it if I decided to purchase. I realize this video was made over a year ago but now money is way too tight to purchase anything with deceptive labels. Happy gardening all!
