Thanks for the update David. We know you are doing it hard right now. You look tired and a bit stressed so I hope you can enjoy some rest with your family. Keep the faith. You are doing a great job but a difficult job. Hopefully, in time, you can look back and see that it was all worth it. See you in Fiji!

Andrew, we were friends back at Woolooware High in grade 8 (ca 1975). You, me (also Andrew) and Richard were mates for a short time before you moved up to Lissy. Richard and I were reminiscing the old days when I mentioned you, then we happend upon this podcast. I borrowed a model boat you built from balsa back then and did my best to copy it. I also loved sailing, my dad bought a Hood 20. Richard and I would sail everywhere in that thing and pushed it to its limits ....as you do.

Great interview! I've had the pleasure of meeting Helen and am, in fact, in the process of buying Gaia! I truly wish that i could have met Jim, as well, but he passed away last year right before I got in contact about purchasing. He was a remarkable man from what i know. He also has a series of articles about Gaia and their travels in the Junk Rig Association Magazine in which Helen is currently writing future articles. I look forward to adding more adventures to the amazing history of S.V. Gaia!

I saw a Today Australia vid about Geoff and his son doing work in the Antarctic so I came here to hear more from him. Your conversation was very interesting and definitely a worthwhile watch. I wish it had more views and people could show more interest in climate change which will end up effecting all of us mostly in negative ways rather than a million views on some cat video. I like cats as much as the next person but I place understanding what we face in the future especially if we continue to ignore what’s plainly obvious way above burying my head in the sand until my brain is cooked. Then what, no more cat videos!

You are providing a great service David. I've sailed or surveyed many of the places you have been/are going to. The adventures and memories created are priceless. I'm starting a new chapter in my life now that I'm back in my home town, Whangarei. Selling Blue Heron having owned her for 21 years is quite the psychological hurdle, but one that needs to be accomplished in order move on. I love what you are doing and understand some of the challenges you are dealing with having managed the RNZN adventure sail training craft for many years. Maybe I'll come along on one of your adventures in the future. In the meantime it looks like I'll be driving ferries again to accumulate more cruising tokens. Total respect for what you are doing.
