It was a nice addition by the route creator, Emi, the invisible wall to the right-hand side before it was an unpleasant surprise the first time XD For sure a VR version would be insane, not sure I'd be any good at it but also if it was in first person then I wouldn't be able to see my pretty griffs while flying!

Hey thanks, definitely the most fun one in my eyes and love just chilling in the air!

Do you have the masteries yet? The other mounts can all do their signature thing straight away (i.e. raptor can do its leap, jackal its dash etc) but you need to unlock the 3rd mastery on griffon before you can zoooom. So, once you have Aerial Finesse unlocked, when holding dive (*not* swoop, the 1st skill, that locks you into a fixed distance and dismounts you if you hit the ground so only use it to engage enemies on the ground) you can flap once and that gives you the speed boost - you'll get golden lines around you to show once you've done it successfully. If you're looking for more tips we have lots in the [Wing] server, or you can check out the guides by guildies like Thy Weeping Willow and Kat Drexed here on yt :)

Oh thank you :) I do use a bit lower DPI than some (1000) and with my old laptop, which I started flying on, there were so many frame drops that I had to avoid any sudden/jerky movements so that very much helped to develop the way I fly today!

[Wing] do have regular flying sessions on both servers so if you catch one of those then you'll be able to see a bunch of our fliers in action - we normally start in Queensdale so if you're ever near Altar Brook Trading Post keep an eye on the sky ;)

Oh yep ANet really hit it out of the park with mounts, each has its own unique feel and the movement physics are fantastic. Always feels super cool being part of the air squad of griffons racing around during a meta!

Haha thank you! Even the best fliers still bonk, we all do it, it's just a part of flying and even though it can be frustrating sometimes you just have to laugh at it XD I don't think a day goes by where I *don't* crash for some silly reason, griffon flying can be tricky so the more you do it, the more comfortable you'll get!

Guild Wars 2! This was recorded on one of the Heart of Thorns maps :)

Well, for the weekly challenges our guild leader chooses set routes that other members of the guild have uploaded to our discord server, so you know what you need to do! ^ ^ If I want to create a route, I might choose a certain area that looks cool in a map and then try to find stunts there to incorporate into a route, or else I might just happen to run/fly past something that looks interesting and then go back and try to fit it into a route. If it's just chill flying then usually I'll pick random obstacles to fly through as I'm wandering around a map, but usually if I'm focused I specifically choose certain routes others have made to practise.

@@intransigentash Cool! I wonder, how do you do that upward spiral like at 0:23, and I saw it in previous videos that you do it downward too in a way that the screen isn't rotating.

If you use the strafe keys while diving and climbing you can do spiral dives and climbs! You do need to hit them with a certain timing, press and hold one until your griff turns as far in that direction as it can and then swap to the other to continue the turn, then repeat. Oh, and when diving you have to swap a little faster between the strafe keys than when climbing. You can practise by getting on your raptor and using the strafe keys while running, if you can get your circle smooth like that then you'll be able to do it in the air as well :)

It's such a fun mount, you'll love it when you've got it (and the masteries)! The final jackal mastery does help with pocket raptors but those guys are rabid, fly too close to the ground and they can still get you XD

You can tap the dive (not swoop) and climb skills to get smaller changes in height, and use a combination of the mouse and movement/strafe keys to control direction. ANet did a brilliant job making the griffon feel super responsive so with practise you can achieve a lot :D If you're interested, [Wing] run training sessions (check bio for link to the Discord server) or you can check out guides made by Thy Weeping Willow for some tips!
