Stevens Pass | Tye Mill
In 1976, Stevens Pass expanded up the ridge with a used lift. Relocated from the avalanche-torn Yodelin ski area, Tye Mill was a Riblet center-pole double. It opened up a new set of trails on the ridgeline that Big Chief (now Kehr's Chair) served, but reached the top of the ridgeline. The lift did not serve as access to anywhere except for expert off-piste terrain below the lift down the ridgeline. That was until 1987 when Stevens Pass opened up Mill Valley, anchored by a triple chairlift. This expansion sat on the other side of the ridgeline of Tye Mill, making Tye Mill one of the access points. By 1999, traffic on Tye Mill had increased, leading Stevens Pass to upgrade the lift. That year, parts from the original Hogsback triple, which had just recently been replaced, were used for Tye Mill's replacement.
Tye Mill is a Riblet triple. It uses newer riblet chairs that weren't used on the older Hogsback, and reuses the old towers from the original Tye Mill with widened crossarms.

Stevens Pass | Southern Cross

Mill Valley, the backside of Stevens Pass was opened in 1987. In it contained a wealth of terrain, including intermediate, advanced and expert across standard trails, glades, open bowls, and wide open spaces under high-voltage power lines. The expansion was anchored by a triple chair, which served the area's relatively long vertical of over 1,700 feet. The lift was named Southern Cross, and the...

Barrier chair was a Riblet center pole double chair, installed in 1953. It was Stevens Pass's first chairlift, providing easier access to a wealth of intermediate and advanced terrain. Over 30 years later, Stevens Pass had worked with Thiokol, and its successor, CTEC on two new chairlifts. With the introduction of detachables from CTEC after combining with European lift manufacturer Garaventa, ...
Stevens Pass | 7th Heaven (Ride Up and Ski Down)

7th Heaven is a Riblet center pole chair, the last one at Stevens Pass since the replacement of Kehr's Chair. It was installed in 1960, and used to require a rope tow to access from the old Barrier chair. Sometime in the 80's, the bottom terminal was relocated, no longer requiring a ropetow to access. After a possible Tye Mill replacement, 7th Heaven could be next up due to its age (64 as of 20...
Stevens Pass | Kehr's Chair
Переглядів 17614 днів тому
In 1964, Stevens Pass opened their first chairlift on Big Chief Mountain, replacing a long, steep ropetow. The lift was a Riblet center pole double, using a vault drive at the bottom, and a counterweight tension station up top. The lift featured a large breakover at the summit, and lifting frames were added to these towers in 2021. In 2023, after initially making an announcement in 2021 and som...

Mill Valley, the backside of Stevens Pass, was originally served exclusively by Southern Cross, a 1987 CTEC triple chair. While the lift served more advanced and expert terrain well, the traverse to access the easier trails had many flat sections, and was quite arduous. Also due to the popularity and the fact there was more capacity going into the valley than leaving the valley, Stevens Pass de...
Stevens Pass | Hogsback Express

Hogsback Ridge was originally served by Blue Jay, a 1956 Riblet double. This lift ended lower down on the ridge than the current Hogsback lift does, leaving 7th Heaven to serve the upper terrain. In 1979, a Riblet triple named Hogsback was installed to run to a point higher up on the ridge than Blue Jay, however Blue Jay remained. In 1997, Blue Jay was finally removed, and in 1998, Stevens Pass...

In 1987, Stevens Pass began its expansion into Mill Valley, on the backside of the ridge where the existing Tye Mill chairlift ran. With the expansion came the installation of a new lift. Despite Tye Mill already providing access to the backside terrain, Stevens Pass decided to make another way from the top of Kehr's Chair (then known as Big Chief). This came in the form of a single lift that s...
Stevens Pass | Daisy

Daisy was originally installed in 1973, a Thiokol triple. It became the first beginner chairlift at Stevens Pass. Being the only beginner lift at the resort, a replacement made sense, since the lift was getting old compared to the other lifts at the resort in the 2010's. Soon after Vail's acquisition of the resort in 2018, they invested in a new lift, a quad chair, to up capacity and ease loadi...
Stevens Pass | Brooks Express
Переглядів 29921 день тому
Brooks was a 1968 Riblet center pole double. Ever since the replacement of the Barrier double with Skyline Express in 1996, Brooks became the longest fixed-grip lift on the mountain. With a very long ride time, and popularity with its terrain parks, it became obvious there needed to be replacement. In 2019, after recently being acquired by Vail Resorts, the company invested in Stevens Pass's fo...
Cypress Mountain | Sky

Sky was first installed in 1987, a used Mueller double chair that came from Apex Mountain in the same province of British Columbia. The chair used lattice towers, a classic style of Mueller at the time it was installed at its first location. The lift itself opened up new terrain on the upper mountain, bringing in 360 degree views into the Howe Sound, city of Vancouver, and surrounding mountain ...

Cypress's first lift on Mt. Strachan was the Sunrise chair, a Murray-Latta double chair, installed in 1975. Capacity was increased on the chair in 1997 after Sky chair was installed, which brought demand to the upper mountain. Sunrise was replaced with a Poma quad. Only ten years later however, since Eagle had gone detachable, and since Sunrise was a longer lift than Eagle, Cypress invested in ...

Cypress Mountain's beginner area has always been on the Mt. Strachan side of the resort. It was original served by a ropetow called Easy Rider. In 2001, along with Eagle Express, Cypress Mountain installed a chairlift to replace the ropetow, keeping the same name. Easy Rider is a Doppelmayr quad chair. It uses a drive terminal and bullwheels that are no longer used on Doppelmayr installs after ...

Cypress's Black Mountain summit was originally served by a Murray-Latta double chair, accurately named Black. Sometime in the 1990's or so, the lift was renamed to Eagle, and sson after, a replacement came along. In 2001, Cypress Mountain invested in there first high-speed lift, replacing Eagle with Eagle Express. Eagle Express is a Doppelmayr high-speed quad. It uses all standard Doppelmayr eq...
Grouse Mountain | Peak
Переглядів 23828 днів тому
Peak was originally installed by Habegger in 1970, a double chair. This lift served as the only access to the summit of Grouse Mountain, since the Inferno chair didn't reach the summit when it was installed in 1975. This meant all the expert terrain was only accessible at the top of the Peak chair, and required a two-lift ride to lap. In 2003, both Peak and Inferno were removed and replaced wit...
