As someone with the Fenix 8 AMOLED I’m enjoying these battery test videos 👍
@@jamesmcintyre4287 that's great man! I'm sure thee Amoled screen is exceptional!
Fenix 8 just looks soo much better to me than enduro 3
I feel the same way!
@@arulashokkumarsingh6725 of course it looks like the premium watch you can just tell.
I am very confused between the enduro 3 and fenix 8 51mm solar. What do you suggest
@@arulashokkumarsingh6725 Fenix 8 it looks amazing.
I like the looks on the Fenix 8, also didn't want another black watch. And the possibility to receive call in Fenix 8 wasn't I huge point for me, but makes the difference. But I'm not a diver.
how long does it take for you to get GPS lock? My Epix Pro takes 5-6 seconds but the new Fenix8 Solar 47mm that I bought needs more than 1-2 minutes for the GPS signals to lock.
@@CanInelli mine is pretty quick too... 10 sec I would say. But I'll make a quick video showing!
@@jivagorodrigues9622 that would be great! Waiting for the video
@@CanInelli just posted!
Sorry if this has been stated already on one of the other videos, but do you have pulse OX turned on? if so, at night only? (Thanks for doing these videos!)
@@jcthrower no. Pulse ox is off. Only on demand!
@@jivagorodrigues9622 ok, thanks for the quick reply!
Good stuff brother, both your review and your training regime. Why did you go with the raw titanium finish?
Thanks man! I had the F7XSS DLC black before, so wanted to go with something new and different!
@jivagorodrigues9622 is the solar aspect helping the battery situation. Can you show off your daily solar intensity or whatever can show that
@@CiprianiCharles just posted this morning update. I'll show my solar average on the next video!
Looks good but the bezel around the screen is even bigger than on the F7X Pro SS. Doesn't look all too great in comparison with the 47mm version.
Do you have 47 or 51 mm versio? What is your wrist size?
51 mm… read the title…
@@magdalenaabno908 yeah, sorry. What about sound when running / riding and get lap beep? Is it same as Fenix 7?
No the sound is different. And now that we have a real speaker, the watch can tell pace, time and everything else with voice.
I have fenix 8 51mm amoled guys and when i changed DataSheet watchface to original batery stoped draining. Basicly anything with realtime data like HR, altitude, weather causing this... I changed the data and even my amoled lasting for 20 days and iam doing at least 1.5 hour+ activity per day. Good luck 🫡.
Thank you for the video. What color is your Fenix 8
@@ksanjari mine is the 51mm Solar, they only with the green accent on the side. I think they only have this color and the black one. I think is Grey Titanium.
Thanks for doing this battery demonstration. Love the watch but mine has been sucking battery way too quickly and I've been pretty sedentary for the last week. 4.2 ish percent drop per day which I think adds up to 22 ish days battery. Which is well under what is advertised. But... Hoping for software updates
@@CHICKPEAPIE yeah I think it's gonna be much better in the future. They should have waited a little more before releasing the product without a stable software. But it is what it is. Like apple advertising iphone 16 with the best IA, and releasing without the iA that only comes next year.
That's burning battery fast, especially on the solar version. Have you been using the torch a lot? That burns through battery on its brighter settings. I had an issue on my Enduro 3 that continued burning through battery even after stopping a GPS activity. Turning the watch off and on again seemed to fix the power drain.
4 workouts including a 1.5hr run with a 14% battery drain seems pretty reasonable from a battery drain perspective to me.
@natemb02 I also think is reasonable. It's been almost 72 hour now and it's still 83%. I now have a 5k run to do it and will post another update!
It happened to me once like I finished my my run and noticed that the battery was really burning down after that. But it didn't happen again after I have rebooted the watch with the latest software version or during this current battery test. It's running smoothly!
@@natemb02I can’t speak for the Fenix 8, but my Enduro 3 would get through 14% of battery in roughly 10 hours of GPS activity (SatIQ).
@@chrismearing4484 genuine question but what would you say is wrong? He’s using the watch daily for activities yes it’s a MIP display but that does not mean slow battery drain 🤷
I have the 51mm AMOLED version very happy with my Fenix 8
We are both very happy then!
@@jivagorodrigues9622 I upgraded from a FR965 the heart rate sensor is a lot more accurate and I’ve not really had to take out the external HR sensor. I like the new UI as well it’s a lot more organised.
Damn dude that looks almost comically large on you. What size is your wrist? The 47mm version would have been a much better fit.
@@somerandomperson8282 thanks for your valuable opinion!
It looks fine obviously close up anything can look large but if you were at a normal viewing distance it would be fine. And who cares? Some people like a big watch.
Subjective
@@CHICKPEAPIE its not subjective, if a watch literally hangs off of the sides of your wrist then its too big for you.

Hi, you think its a good purchase? I have Fenix 8 51mm solar, befor i had an apple watch ultra 1. I dont know if i change to ultra black and wait for the 8 pro when it comes out 😏
It's definitely a good purchase. But if you are used to apple watches you gotta go through the learning curve until your master your garmin. I have been using Garmin for years now, and the F8 is the best of the best.
I had the F8 Solar 47mm for a few days, but I ended up returning it due to poor battery life-it drained about 12% in just one day while simply sitting on the table. I usually rely on a basic G-Shock for my gym sessions, and I thought this watch might be an upgrade, but it didn't meet my expectations.
It's fair. Did you have the solar version or Amoled? Yeah, I feel like the f8 software isn't stable enough and the rushed things to release the product. They should have matured and tested better before starting the sales. But I have no regrets on getting my F8 51mm Sapphire Solar.
@@jivagorodrigues9622 I had the solar version. I thought I can take the watch on a 2 week vacation without charging it but it looks like it will last only a few days. I'm eyeing the Garmin Enduro 3
Hi Jivago, is the watch screen in this video has the backlight or just using the reflection of the indoor light? As I am considering this watch but worried of the visibility indoors, thank for the daily updates!
No back light during the day. My back light only goes on after sunset. So no back light in the video. The screen is very vivid!

@@wibble_wibble7133 yo I know how you feel, I had a F7XSS and I didn't need to upgrade neither. But I always like have the latest product hahha To be honest, no regrets. The watch band looks way better than the black leather one
Unfortunately, the Fenix 8 51mm Sapphire Solar does indeed seem to currently consume more power than the AMOLED version of the same size. But this has only been the case since the last software update to 11.89; it was still fine with the older software versions. A test on this.....ua-cam.com/video/-hf0ki9fbyM/v-deo.htmlsi=fLc7SkgalTCOrbDi I'm hoping for an update that will fix this, otherwise there is less reason to buy the MIP version with solar and the manufacturer's information is also no longer correct.
@@heinzmuller8831 I think in a month or two they will have fixed everything and the watch is gonna run smother... And maybe new features are coming too!
For a first time Garmin buyer.. If I can afford to buy a brand new 7X SS or Fenix 8 Solar. Which one do you honestly recommend? You who have used both the 7X and the new 8...Do you think the new one is worth the money over the old model? I have sold my AWU2 and really need a new watch :-)
@@fijaker1 man I would always go for the latest one, but the 7x it is a great watch and has almost everything that f8 has to offer. But if money isn't a issue, go F8!
@@jivagorodrigues9622 Thanks! My new F8 MIP is already on its way :-)
I have a 47mm solar. And I feel the battery is draining faster than it should.
@@Keno11245 I fell the same on my 51mm comparing to my old F7XSS. But I think when we get more software updates it's going to get better.
Has your battery also been draining quickly?
@@Keno11245 not too quickly. But sometimes I feel like after a run or workout the battery keeps going down faster even after done with the workout, like if the process still running on the background.

Only thing I would have done differently, is set both watches to the same watch face, even if it's a 3rd party one, so we can more clearly see the difference.
