Ironically, Mavs did the same thing what the 2021 Clippers did to them. Have Luka (or SGA at this context) have his numbers but limit the production from the rest of the guys. Problem is, as good of a player SGA is, he is not a bigger threat offensively than Luka. SGA is good, no doubt, but he was not giving those 40-45pts bombs against the opposing team like Luka did with the Clippers. He is just more consistent. There are times when your team superstar have to be more selfish and just have to carry the team offensively.

When OKC have won it was Dallas itself who gave away the game by not shooting well, by missing too many FT, no 3s etc. Basically the Mavs were losing their focus due to the harsh defense from OKC. The last game was no difference, Mavs just got their shit together and scored better than OKC. Mavs, the new Mavs is much stronger team than OKC, if Luka is Luka.

The Thunder abused the guard on guard pick to confuse the defense. All their offense runs out of that. It works in the regular season but when a team has time to prepare for it. That's why they can't the three's because they are not coming in the same way they did all year.

Shay's PO high is 34 points. SGA is a great player, but not a true Superstar that can just take over a game at will. He cant just go for 45. Hell he hasnt scored 45 all season. Thats just not his game! He is a very consistent scorer who gives you 25+ on good efficiency basically every game. But his playstyle is just not made to go for 45+. Specially not in the PO when the refs dont give him every touch foul he hunts for. You need to take a high volume of 3's for that in the modern day NBA. SGA doesnt take 10 3's, so he needs FT to get to 40. But Dallas plays intelligent defense. Not fouling and contesting him with help defenders on drives. So no, its not really on SGA. SGA plays good. Its on the rest of the team that just shows how inexperienced they are. Chet, J-Dub, Giddey, Wallace, J-Will... all are 23 and younger and play their first playoffs. And it shows. The Dallas startegy is playing SGA 1on1 (you are right here), give SGA his normal 30 PPG, but make the rest of the Thunder as uncomfortable as possible. And it works.

I don’t get your take at all. Saying this loss is on Shai is baffling, and that he should’ve just “taken over.” They lost this game because he simply did not have any help. Just look at how Luka has had PJ or DJJ pop off every single game this series. What player on the Thunder has stepped up in any capacity the way those 2 have for Dallas? Shai’s “co stars” JDub and Chet, have been OUTPRODUCED by DJJ and PJ since game 1. That is not how you win. Not only that, the Thunder role players have struggled immensely shooting and just missing many open looks. You can’t be the #1 3 point shooting team in the league and shoot consistently under 29% from 3 with how the Thunder are built. I think it’s just naive thinking the loss was on Shai. I get he’s the superstar and usually they get the brunt of the blame, but that’s not how basketball works. You NEED other guys contributing to beat good teams like Dallas.

i honestly agree with everything you said except, giddey getting benched. Mark and Shai should have realized in game 3, when everyone else is cold, give shai the freakin ball. He is playing to muh team ball for the playoffs. In the regular season it works great, but right now, no one else is stepping upso shai needs to do what he does. As for defense, we really need to stop doubling, they are torching us with open threes because we are doubling luka and kyrie. As for giddey, i dont think the offense has been what it is, because he isnt in to be a playmaker, he obviously isnt going to play well if mark is limiting his minutes. You mentioned stop shooting and take the ball to tha hoop, giddey can to that extremely well and kick the bacll to an open guy when the lay isnt there

Shai is not on Luka's level at all. He benefits from being a loser for years with an organization that has all the draft picks and lottery picks all around him that can shoot to hide his inability to his 3pt shot mechanics look horrible, slow & not fluid, his defense overrated he can't guard luka on one leg & doesn't try to he hides on the weakest threat & gamble in lanes, lacks weight & muscle mass can easily be pushed around not built for playoff ball without the refs helping,zion-less sqaud is not a playoff team at all, so his 1st real match up he lost home court advantage & down 2 -1 against luka on one leg this isn't even debatable anymore shai Overrated that 5 out increases his numbers and efficiency, but it gets shut down when his team needs him the most.
