I beat them on the second try, but it took every extra level I'd gained from the Chalice Dungeons, and I was terrified the entire time.
The look, the moveset, the sounds, the setting... all outstanding. He's not the hardest boss in the whole game, but he's the hardest boss that's also fun.

Yes, I beat Lady Maria first try. But all my insides are on the outside. All those extra Chalice Dungeon levels meant almost nothing. She'd just woken up too, didn't even stretch first.

I've never seen a boss with so little health left. I actually sat down and did the maths. I’m pretty sure he had 52 hitpoints left out of 16824 I've failed many times, but this one felt special. Starting to think that I won't be getting that trophy... Loran Silverbeast - These dungeons love an easy boss to create that false sense of security. Abhorrent Beast - Absolute thug of a boss who hates when you heal. Loran Darbeast - Hard because it's a bad boss fight. This boss is mentally challenged to be honest last time i fought him he was teleporting and exiting from the same mirror while trying to run away from me but at the same time i was confused as to why he was that stupid.

Right I finally got a PS5, I should be able to play this now. If only I wasn't shite at Souls games.
I post my clips of me beating bosses to show even someone with a distinct lack of skill can strong arm their way through these games. If I can do it, there’s hope for anyone 😆

Why didn’t you just Gun Parry him? he’s one the easier ones. I can’t wait till you meet Rom, the shadow trio, Reborn dude and Usain Micolash.
I’ve met them all - this is playthrough 2. The only boss I ever parried was Gehrman. And not well. For me to parry, I’d have to be gud, skilful. I am not 😄 So instead I hit things with the biggest stick I can and mash dodge. It’s been surprisingly successful.
I think Fromsoft makes the 1st boss you encounter in its souls games quite difficult, Is for the newcomers to this genre of games. They know that a few people will give up after a couple of attempts, But for the many that stick with it & figure out the boss's patterns, Or just get lucky after awhile... Nothing really compares to that feeling you get from beating that 1st boss!!! From then on, Your pretty much hooked 😂
Very well said. I’ve played Demons Souls and DS 1&2, so I’m used to the games putting the hurt on in the tutorial. This felt a little different because the cleric beast felt like the training boss, Father G felt like a very sudden gear shift, but the next few went a bit easier on me. Even later on in the Upper Cathedral, the two bosses feel leagues apart. All thoroughly enjoyable though!

The curse of fromsoftware games: pause menu doesn't stop the game
Didn’t even pause it, so confident was I that the space was safe.
I rather use saw cleaver transform attack, it just melts bosses
I am enjoying this game to the point that I may reply a third time to try the other weapons. But in my first play through I found my rhythm with the axe, and the Holy Blade in this run.
