Jeep Comanche Crawling

My 1987 Jeep Comanche going through lower rock garden at Black Mountain Trails in Harlan, Kentucky.
Which trail is this?
How much is it usually to do a manual swap? I have an Auto EK9 as well :)
I could feel the pain of trying to reach to the back of the engine, I've never actually sat in the engine compartment but I will certainly remember this.
What exhaust setup do you have on it? Sounds great! Same cam i have. Going into a iroc
What exhaust?
most of this video you were trespassing on private land or government land. Carburater hill is on BLM and Gatekeeper is on Private. At the time you were there, I am certain Gatekeeper and Holiday hill are blocked off at the entrance and you had to drive around the dirt mounds to access them. You, and people like you, are the reason so many places are getting closed. If you dont know where you are allowed to be, don't go there.
what are those wheels?
Weld S71 I believe
@@ryanfenner yup your right
4:04 tighty whities?
Hell of a dream car bud😁would love to hear the story on this
i’ll go over that when i install the body kit in the next video!
Cable can be put out the side.
That's what I ended up doing. The lights came with two different isolator mounts and the ones were round like they were meant for tubing. I think they were actually included in error and are meant for a different style light
4.0/ax15? What t case?
Yep, HO 4.0 and AX15 out of a TJ. In this video it may have had a 231J. Has an Atlas 4.3 now
Great video, really enjoyed it and your rigs. If you guys were running SS SX or Reds you would have had an easier time, Treps don't seem to like the moisture of the South East.
Thanks! These tires work okay where I live, but there are definitely better tires out there.
@@ryanfenner they are sick tires though no doubt!
Those look like normal roads to where I'm at. You can get up most of that stuff with 2 wheel drive
Where are you at? I need to come wheel there
Why not just boat side the LJ?
Why do people put so much wear and tear on there rigs .just pick another line like the second guy did..
Because that’s what they’re built for…
@@dylan22898 you get it
Its a gradual thing.... You start out with an XJ, MJ, TJ, etc. and put a little lift and tire... you start going wheeling, and on your 2nd trip you put a dent in the rocker panel...alright time for some sliders...then bumpers....now the rigs a little heavy and the 35s wont do it....you want a 37" ...well gonna need some axles.,..Alright so now these medium trails feel a little boring on 37s. You start running tougher trails, you take on more body damage...The next thing you know your on tons and 40s and its purely a trail rig. At this point body damage starts to tell a story. There battle scars. You don't seek them out, but if you wheel enough hardcore stuff, it just becomes part of it....And once you accept body damage you can wheel with less stress
Did you degree the cam at all or just bang it in there and full send it
Awesome video, thanks for sharing.
Did a frame off about ten years ago. 82 cj7, swapped yj tub. Full roll cage,44 wagoneer front, narrowed 60 rear. All AMC drive train. Lots of frame repair. Good luck on the build.
That sounds super cool! Thanks!
You got way too many jeeps. Need more Dodges
Hopefully he swaps a Dodge drive train into this LJ build. 360, auto.
@@waltmoore3095 now we're talkin!
What exhaust system is on this car?
Did you get the full cam kit from trick performance? Thank you
Yes!
Them boys funny as hell 😂 fire her up.
Excellent choice in cam and great video the T/A is georgeous and sounds fantastic
Nice job 👍🏾
First roll of the day, always a sxs lol.
Why was there oil leaking
Damaged the front main seal while installing the crank pulley.
I had to comment: first, beautiful car and nice garage set up with a lift! I told my wife this is like an alternate dimension of my life: I have an 02 black TA, Chevy Avalanche in same color, Suzuki Sidekick instead of the Bronco(?) and in teal, and finally I had a Fxdx back in the day that was Aztec Orange with a front cowl, but mine didn't have the clear windscreen part. 😱🤯
Thats awesome! Sounds like you have good taste in vehicles
@@ryanfenner Thank you! Now if I can just convince my wife that we need a lift.... 🤔
@@bjperez9076 Just order one! Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission
@@ryanfenner Go on.... 🤔 😂
Great cam choice.
Car sounds and performs great. Believe it made right around 400HP on the dyno, cam only. I'm putting the same cam in my 6.0.
@@ryanfenner I just had my 6.0 with this cam and an intake and longtubes make 420/400. couldnt be happier.
@@SuperAbsolute Good numbers!
Was there a week ago, but not on this trail. Watching video with 4 wheelers there said extreme trail. I had to laugh!! they need to watch this video. Great vid..
whats your wheelbase on that?
118” at ride height
I absolutely love the build. It seems to work really well. I like the way you were able to keep it so low.
Been checking this park out ..looks awesome
It is hard if you don’t have 40s
Me and my dad took trail 12 in a 2019 Polaris rzr turbo 1000xp and it was like riding on the moon it was TERRIBLE
Sound perfect for my crew
🤩💥💯👍👏
Must be nice to have a lift 🙄
I can't even use it because I've got a paper weight stuck on it :/
Sick truck and digging the colors on it.
Who didn’t see that rzr going over? That was such a bad line it almost looks on purpose
Ditch the trees and get some sticky BFGs or TSL SXs !
Treps work great for me!
Which trails were these?
15, 22 and a few others. Some are listed in the video. Next time I'll keep better record of the numbers!
Those 42s treps
Yes
ITS TANUH! Its yelloh! ITS TAUNUH! ITS SCHOOL BUS YELLOH!😆😆😆
I saw that spring fall out a ways back. lol I didn't know what it was until the end.
How have they held up?
Holding up great!
@@ryanfenner nice. I need to do this on my XJ. Get more ground clearance. I just need to do frame stiffeners at the same time.
Hey what shocks are you running dude and brand?
16" ORI Struts on all four corners
love the look of comanche its just beat up about right were it still looks cool
It's gotten a lot more body damage since this video. More video updates soon!
Keep it up man you'll have followers in notime
Thanks man!
This video is sick! Keep on Jeepin man!
did you do an axle swap in this truck?
Yes. Its a 77 HP Dana 44 and a 9"
ryrycars sweet, I have a 78 Dana 44 and a 60 i want to throw under mine, I love my Comanche, I have wanted one for years, I wrecked it a few winters back and fixed it last summer, check out some of my videos if you like, thanks for the reply,
I will. This 44 doesn't like the 37" treps too much, even with chromoly shafts. Ive got a 79 dana 60 and a 14b ff I'm going to swap in.
That would be pretty sweet, I'm probably only ever gonna run 33s on mine, maybe 35s but I doubt it,
Sweet
What exhaust set up do you have sounds mean!?
there isn't an exhaust
