Snagging fish is like the mumble rap of fishing.... 😂 I wouldn't had even posted this.

You do realize when salmon run rivers they typically are not feeding to all you’re ever really doing is snagging salmon on rivers. When they attack roe sacs it’s not for feeding they’re doing so to snuff out competitors. They also attack the flat fish because small bait fish can be predators on the eggs they lay but they are not feeding. Hence why you float drift or floss from salmon while you can use blades and spin and glows for steelehead because the steelehead are actually feeding.

My grandpa had us doing this when I was like 6 in Michigan years after his passing I learned it wasn't the right way 😂

I started fishing river salmon by flossing with a hook and bead and sometimes some yarn.

I’m not some kind of fisherman, but in terms of the end result, I’d say “flossing” as described here is totally different compared to snagging. A snag is a treble hook anywhere on the body, so it causes injury to the fish. Flossing seems like essentially the same thing everyone else is doing using a lure or bait. Does it seem like “cheating?” Yes. Is it illegal? I think that’s open to interpretation, at least in many states.

Flossing isnt ethical in the least bit. Its snagging and just another excuse for not learning how to fish. We catch plenty on bait and lures you dont have to snag

So shitty that the first technique i was taught for salmon was flossing but alot of people look down on it…. I guess it is basically snagging but at the same time its 100% more respectful trying to get it hooked in the mouth than trying to stick one with a treble hook😂😂… thats just my opinion plz dont respond with your emotional behavior 😎

It's the same s*** as snagging. 100% you know why? Because all the people who consider this flossing still won't release the fish if they catch it hooked on its side. They try to claim that it's not snagging but it's the same s*** because I know they're all going to keep the fish

When I fish oak orchard I mainly target the huge browns over the king salmon but you hook up a lot flossing dirt dolphins...id much rather float fish for kings
