To my understanding no. It has just been kept in good condition parked in a garage and driven very little. The last owner was a collector and barely drove the car at all. And he was close with the original owner who is quite old and hadn’t driven the car for ages. I do think there was some paintwork done on the side panel and possibly doors… very hard to tell but if you look very closely the finish looks a little newer than the roof and hood and trunk paint which is original paint for sure. I put 195/70 r 14 91 h. it feels great. yes I have one of the original tires as a full size spare in the trunk and I noticed that rubber lip as well! I wish I could get 4 more of the original tires too. I have both the alloys which are on the car now, and the original steel wheels with colour matched hubs. To clarify, when I open the the hood there’s a black sticker for vehicle emission control info. it says displacement and other technical info. there is says “advertised horsepower: 67 HP

@@240dPaul Hi Paul, in your video, I briefly spotted “Ontario”. Was this a first-delivery to Canada? Maybe they reduced the output a little bit to match fuel qualities. Or the missing 5 bhp’s are a later modification to meet emission standards! Anyhow, don’t rely on an emission sticker! The source of truth is the black metal Mercedes motor label. You can easily find it on the exhaust side of the engine block. For a 240D, the motor should be OM616, rated at 72 bhp. But again, what really hit me was the massive list of extras your car has! I don’t know if you are aware of Mercedes 1980’s pricing strategy. The cars were offered in Germany for 25-30’000 DM, in today’s money about 40’000 € or USD. But they came without any extras, no power steering, no passenger side mirror, of course no sun roof or cruise control, no radio! The original owner almost added another 50% to the sticker price! Total nonsense, for the same price he would have gotten the 300D or even a 280E, where some of this stuff was already included. What you have is a highly collectible car, because of this rare “mismatch” of motor and equipment! I’m afraid, I’m not a potential buyer, because I’m living in Germany. But think twice before you sell this gem! Oh and by the way, the Michelin tyres with the lip are still available (at least here in Germany), although they come with a hefty price tag…
