Stowe - Sunrise Six
Sunrise is a six-person detachable chairlift located at Stowe Mountain Resort. The lift runs from the Mansfield Lodge at the base of the mountain up to the junction of the trails Lord, Sunrise, and North Slope, about halfway up Mount Mansfield. The chairlift serves the southern half of the mountain, offering a variety of primarily beginner and intermediate groomed terrain. From the top of the lift, skiers and riders may also access the Toll House Base Area, the Gondola Base Area, and the Over Easy Gondola for access to Spruce Peak. The chairlift was manufactured by Doppelmayr and installed at the resort in 2022 as part of the resort's parent company, Vail Resort's, Epic Lift Upgrade initiative. The lift replaced the Mountain chairlift, a Doppelmayr three-person fixed grip chair, offering high-speed lift access to beginner terrain for the first time at Stowe.
Stowe Mountain Resort is a ski area located in Stowe, Vermont. The mountain is located in the northern half of the state, halfway in between the cities of Burlington and Montpelier. The resort is located about a 45-minute drive east of Burlington, a 3-hour 30-minute drive northwest of Boston, Massachusetts, and a 6-hour drive northeast of New York City. The resort features two mountains, separated by state highway 108. Mount Mansfield, the tallest peak in Vermont, is located west of the highway and features a variety of terrain for all ability levels in two separate areas, one served by a gondola and another by a series of chairlifts. Spruce Peak is located east of the highway and features a variety of terrain as well as restaurants and lodging. The resort shares Spruce Peak with Smugglers' Notch Resort, however, the two resorts are not connected and are about an hour's drive from each other in the winter, as a result of the seasonal closure of Route 108 through the notch. Stowe is owned by Vail Resorts and is a destination on the company's Epic Pass products.

Breckenridge - Little Burn to American
oh, it's _great_. You can get ANYWHERE from this thing lol.
thanks bro
This was Leitner-Poma's first detachable lift in North America to have LPA terminals and grips!
This lift will likely be replaced by a Doppelmayr high speed six in 2025.
best run there lol
Never skied here, but I drive past it for work all the time. The front face looks steep and fun if they have snow. Unfortunately I see bare ground all the time on that front face.
Just to clarify something about the terminals on the old Avanti Express, the 1989 Doppelmayr high speed quad had CLD-260 chain driven terminals, not Doppelmayr UNI prototype terminals.
Classic video footage of the long lift lines at Powder Mtn😜😜😜
I heard this was the busiest day of the year to that point!
@@beyondthelodge I can believe it, but probably gonna change in the near future
You can make it that slow? Other videos show people go too fast. The speed on thr video is actually perfect. But what if smb behind you go too fast?
So cool when two chairs share a tower
The lift line is absurd.
A very fun one to ski!
The lift line is ridiculous.
Great video! Do you remember when in October this was taken?
The 14th
Thanks!
Do you think a beginner/intermediate would do fine on this trail? not a high speed skier here, just enjoy nice chill long runs myself
Yes, the greens over her are great for intermediates!
The motor sounds like Killington’s K1 gondola.
Max speed is around 750 fpm.
I would like to try this mountain but does it get packed, including on weekdays and on Sundays in January and February?
Weekdays are usually fine
Some have said that it gets so packed that there is no parking. If I go on a weekday, maybe I'll do Sunapee or Waterville. If I can only make it up on a Saturday, maybe I'll consider Ragged?
@@tenderpawsm473 weedays should be fine or get there early!
Sunapee IS the closest New Hampy ski resort from N.Y. But aren't the lodging options at the mountain limited? I was thinking of staying in Keene if I were to ski there. They have hotels.
@@tenderpawsm473 There is one hotel nearby by but the closest would likely be in Claremont
Wasn't the turn from the South Ridge triple at 1:25? I don't know the exact spot lol
enjoyed it last March :-)
It’s running at Mahogany Ridge speed.
I’m actually not that far from this place😂
I like the outer barn structure that surrounds both and top terminals. From a lift ops perspective, this looks great for snow control as you won't have to be shoveling your load/unload ramps often.
great ive done needles gondola in summer
yea
great
BEAUTIFUL
AWESOME
My favorite ski area. Most of the Joeys( beginners) stay on the lower mountain. Upper mountains are populated by advanced skiers! Love the "slow" lifts. Lets my 70+ year old legs rest between runs. Groomers are made for high speed (50+ MPH) runs which my kids and I love. Can't complain about the VERY affordable senior season ticket price! Definitely a 10!
I saw that somewhere you could not really ski top to bottom and that was just vertical inflator. I guess that was wrong. Was it a good run in your opinion, were there a lot of flats?
I think what that person means is that most runs don't run the entire vertical, this is pretty much the only one. There are some flats part but I find it enjoyable overall
which lift did you take to start, where do you start and where do you end up?
Started at the top of the Summit Express and end up at the bottom of Moonbeam
I've ridden this lift no less than 1,000 times. The Pines, ecstasy, gallery, 1o'clock, all of my favorites. My daughters know to spread my ashes in the trees of this lift.
Interesting that Pride only has an operating speed of 4.9 mps, but to the average rider it probably won't make much of a difference.
I mean it’s the largest ski resort in New York so I wouldn’t say the gondola is not fun at all but I think it is great because it has heaters inside it and there is cool seats and the red one was made in 1967 and it was replaced into the Northwoods gondola in 1999 so yeah it’s cool but the best part is that gore mountain made ski trails and opened it up in 1934 what a long long LONG time ago and yeah that is my favorite mountain and I will never forget about it because of the gondola and how the chairlifts are fast and the gondola is so fast and there is a saddle lodge but I wouldn’t get ahead of you on this mountain but it is bigger that whiteface mountain, west mountain, McCauley mountain, Oak mountain, hickory ski center, royal mountain ski area and lastly Belleayre mountain and the 3 mountains that have gondolas are : Gore mountain, Whiteface mountain, and lastly Belleayre Mountain in Ny
Wow do they stretch to get the "first open" bragging rights, if you can call it that. I been to a few other mountains that required uploading & downloading on opening weekend, but in those cases, you can ski from the top of the access lift to the lapping lift, and at the end of the day, you can ski back from the lapping lift to the access lift, no hike in or out required.
Whenever the double next to you in that video is open, make a video of yourself riding it
I learned to ski on that exact run.
I love your videos. Are these crowds normal there or did you figure out the Sunday hack I’ve heard about?
I would say these crowds were normal for a Thursday, as the Great Western area tends to be the least crowded to begin with
Does Sunapee get packed on weekends? Weekdays?
weekends and vacation yes. School / work day weekdays tend to be good. (I went around 5x last year)
ATLANTIS LOST CITY OF 🦆

I still can't believe this is fed/ex
Even more amazing than no one on sunshine bowl, was that no one was on their ass.
After this run do you take Homeward Bound back to Silver Lake?
That's a strange unload setup, seeing how the ramp doesn't face down. As soon as you unload, gotta push out of the way.
a classic blue cruiser with excellent vert, pitch, and fall line. Nothing wrong with doing 11-12 minute laps. Such a fantastic way to pound out the vert.
Sundance at JH or Limelight at SV?? Which do you think is better to lap as they are somewhat comparable steeper groomers with a lot of vert.
They are both fun! Limelight is certainly steeper though if that is what you are looking for
I did that
This is my favorite trail at Gore. Only problem is the slow lift which prevents me from lapping it more often.
Yan's grips are not reliable at all! They're unsafe, so I'm glad Garaventa CTEC replaced them and the terminals.
It’s like how the Kaatskill Flyer at Hunter was originally set up!
