    I bought the Echo Bravo LT 6/7 and it was a complete disappointment. First time on the water my spoil fell off after I had it secured onto the reel. It won’t stay attached no matter what I’ve done. Really sad about the quality because I was very excited about the reel. Hopefully I got the only bad lemon.

    Hey Tim, ... Jason here… Bay View Hardware and Hugh Jr. if you don't remember. Lol 🙃 anyway, .., I bought a few of your ECHO rods..have enjoyed them... But they do snap… the TR Spey 13’6”…. First cast at our famous casting pools... Tip section Snaps... with clean break… The boost salt… the same thing happened… I've replaced the tip on the 13’6” 8wt. TR Spey but not yet on the Salt Boost 11wt. This all happened at the casting pools. Hawaiian Harry tried my Boost Salt and said it was like a broomstick… I do pretty well and am content with it...I’m guessing these guys like light setups..?

    I purchased an Echo Bravo LT reel for striped bass fishing, and my experience has been disappointing. The reel broke on the first day of my trip while fighting a fish - the spool detached from the cage. I had to wait 8 weeks and pay $30-40 CAD to get a replacement spool through Echo's warranty. I didn't use the reel for rest of season. Fast forward a year, and the same issue happened on another fishing trip. Echo wants me to ship the reel again... 2 of my trips were ruined and I need to pay again for shipping. Despite my attempts, Echo's customer service has been slow. This reel is not reliable, and the warranty support is subpar. I've been fishing for over 20 years and been very good with my gear. Only broke this reel and one Loop rod. Loop replaced the rod no question asked and had it in my hands less than a week later. Save your money and avoid the Echo Bravo LT reel.

      @@Subaruuu12 sorry didn’t see that you wanted mainly a dry fly rod. this rod is a multi application rod. Little too fast to be a dry fly only rod, look into something a bit softer. That trout line wouldn’t load the rod as much as an infinity taper. If your interested in an echo dry fly rod check out the carbon xl, that paired with the sa trout line would be perfect for a dry fly rod. Way softer.

      @@fishingbeyond8435 too fast in the 484? I dont like medium action rods, they dont fit my casting stroke. Im lookng for a medium fast, more on the faster side, i can just throw off the tip with a flick of the of wrist.

      @fishingbeyond8435 Рік тому

      @@Subaruuu12ya you might like this rod then. if your are an aggressive caster this rod will work well with a sa amplitude trout, but if your a more smooth caster go with the heavier infinity taper.

    My son and I both have the Echo Shadow II rods and they have been amazing for us. We fish smaller, pressured streams in the eastern US and euro nymphing has been a game changer for us. We catch way more trout than we did in the same streams we fished before. The Shadow II is very sensitive and our rods allow us to feel many more strikes that I’m sure we would have missed with our other standard 9’ 5 wt. fly rods.

    As someone who fishes striper/blues on the east coast, the 9wt version is a great starter/back up rod imo. Slightly underpowered, making it good for back bays and calm surf. If I really need to punch through with larger flies, it simply doesn't stack up to my Beulah Opal 9/10. Not knocking this rod at all, especially at its price point. It's just that you will soon be looking to upgrade to a Beulah or Thomas & Thomas if you want to pursue TH surf fishing in the northeast.

    There's an old Jimmy Buffet song lyric that goes, "Like the jitterbug, it plumb evaded me." That was the double haul for me in the beginning. Don't get desperate. One day it will just fall into place. Like Tim says in the beginning, it's not an intellectual thing. Very nice tutorial - I like the baseball analogy. Thumbs up.
