Short Roll: reads & spacing (Blazers)
Keep it simple:
-put 2 on the ball & get off it (play numbers)
-read where the help comes from
-cut & space according to D & personal strengths

Villanova "Barkleys"- Split Options
Переглядів 2,1 тис.3 роки тому
Villanova uses multiple options off the split action when the ball enters the post via Barkley (guard turning a drive into a post)
Villanova "Barkleys"- Exchange Option
Переглядів 6763 роки тому
Villanova exchanges when guards turn drives into post ups (barkleys). Exchanges are a great way to move the defense and create shot or closeout opportunities.

Occupy Help Defense: Empty Ball Screen (Handler option)
Переглядів 9243 роки тому
Screening & Cutting away from the ball Occupies help defenders and opens driving Gaps. Several clips here where the offense is in the paint and all 3 help defenders heads are turned. Great concept out of an empty ball screen or pick and roll alignment.
Pins & Flares during the Ball Screen
Переглядів 6053 роки тому
Multiple ways teams can create shots by screening away from the ball during Pick and Roll. Simple Pins & Flares are all that's needed. Great way to counter over-helping defense
Backdoor Set Concept- Occupy Weakside
Переглядів 5933 роки тому
Great concept for backdoor set plays. When teams delay the backdoor and let action happen on the weakside they open up space for backdoor cut. Action (stagger) on the weakside occupies help defenders and creates more space to cut into. Depending on how the defense plays players can make a face cut as well.
Flare Screens- Cut the Flare (Clear Space)
Переглядів 7953 роки тому
A common concept used in Flare Screen sets is to send a player cutting thru to the opposite side. Cutting thru opens up space for a drive and prevents defenders stunting on a shot.
Flare Screens- Combo Actions
Переглядів 9 тис.3 роки тому
Combo flare actions/sets create a help & recover situation. Plus, they are difficult to communicate... A very common way teams utilize Flare Screens and create flare sets.
Flare Screens- Back screen + Flare
Переглядів 4,2 тис.3 роки тому
Back Screen Flare Screen actions help create space behind a Flare as well for both a shot or drive option. Great combo action ending with a flare.
Flare Screens- Pass & Receive the Flare
Переглядів 7633 роки тому
Take advantage of defenders getting off to their Help/Gap position and/or relaxing immediately after a pass. Really simple, but effective. Doesn't have to be a complex flare set or play.
Flare Screens- On Reversal
Переглядів 5263 роки тому
Setting Flare screens as the ball changes sides of the floor takes advantage of defensive help/gap position. Defenders also get caught watching the ball, making them blind to a Flare screen.
Defense- How to Closeout (Run & Stop)
Переглядів 9 тис.4 роки тому
Not a whole lot of stutter steps/choppy feet here on these defensive closeouts. The feet breakdown naturally (Stride Stop). Defenders should pick a hip to run to. By doing this they get to dictate which way the offense gets to drive. Weak hand, Baseline, Funnel to Help)
Defense- Running Shooters off the Line

Feel like seals are generally underutilized in basketball
GREAT BASKETBALL being played
So satisfying
Great vision and ball movement wow. Reminds me of the current celtics (2024) but utah were a little flashier.
He was so elegant with the ball
Great seeing all these different passing angles & options
He's a smart gambler
I actually started this similar defense in 2018 with my youth travel teams. I took Virginia's packline defense and reversed it, where it was a no middle defense. I would also have my center as rim protector, since most opposing centers can't shoot outside. We also stood in front of the cutters and forces them away from the basket to further disrupt the other teams offense.
He looks like he’s gonna do a post up move then faces you up and blows by you.
i'm rooting for you
👏
Most skilled player ever.
Most "skilled" player, ever.
My ass out here forgetting how dope Steve Nash is 😩😩😩😩
Beautiful to watch.
Great work!
Beautiful
Firstly, credit to Texas Tech for playing within a well organised defensive system, with plenty of energy and effort. The switching techniques are very standard, Wrap Switch, Triple (not Double) Switch are common even at U16 level internationally. I can only assume they utilize other switching techniques...Peel Switch, Scram Switch etc to complement their system. What is noticeable is just how poorly prepared their opponents are in terms of their Coverage Solutions to a switching defense. I realise these are just kids but the lack of complexity and understanding from their opponents is really disturbing. Perhaps it is made to look worse as the clips are selected to show 'good examples' of defense, and the offense is always going to look poor with these selections. Thank you for your work putting the clips together.
I am struggling with my game especially against zone defense. Do 0.5 seconds work in a isolation situation as well before the defense pick back up in their areas? Also how does this apply when trying to score or make decisions off ball screens? I need help! I am a very good player it’s hard to translate in game due to the zones can be annoying.
Zone defense isn't designed to make isolation plays. It's designed to make you shoot the ball. Playing off ball against zone defense actually helps promote defensive rotations or help. If your team is helping out offensively with screens or back cuts. Hope this helps.
Appreciate it i actually applied this to my game along with moving off the ball my game has taken off better than before it helps me stay out of my head
nice video. thank you
I think you meant Jokic passing highlights 😂
Best shit out here. Great work I appreciate it.
Welcome back awesome channel ever .. please keep going 🙏🔥
Tucker and Thorson are back!🎉
CP's handle is underrated.
I wish same principles can be applied to soccer
if u watch barcelona's passing youll see it there.
Thanks
Seems like I’d try getting behind him , pushing him out and defend from behind. All defenders are in front trying to stop entry pass.

A lot of good stuff here, thx fr fr
Find the best available open man.
Just beautiful basketball
simple move yet soooo effective made a living out of using this simple move
if it works it works
this is s result of playing super upright.
I just realized that the Weakside skip pass is something that hedging/blitzing defenses shouldn’t mind because the slower pass to the opposite end is beneficial to recovering back to initial assignments.
solid video
So satisfying

Somebody really made a defensive how to video with a bunch of clips of Pat Bev playing defense. Y’all are hilarious, I love it!
how often do they run this? some of the weirdest stuff i've seen, kinda genius and stupid that it works at the same time
Teams I've played in have tried to run post splits and I think the problem is that we think that we can get the slips from the screener straight away without setting proper screens first, like running a post split for the three for a few possessions and then running the slip off a read.
I really like the idea of slipping but I had never connected slipping and the way Amare Stoudemire rolled until now. Slip before slipping was a thing or just different terminology?
Great question, i'm curious too. My guess is for some players it was probably something they unconciously learned, while some coaches also probably had some type of way to tell them to slip but didn't quite have a defined terminology until the concept was popularized.
LOVE THIS TYPE OF BASKETBALL!!! Euro players have less/no ego and don't have that superstar pull to play selfish.
1:15 he crossed curry
I love this video...Thanks
Great video...Thanks
Great video...Thanks

Most of them don't choo their feet. They do like quick 1-2 stop like in pullups. Watch dj sackmann, if you don't believe me.
almost every single clip is a push off foul. using your hands and/or arms outside your cylinder to push a player or effect their balance and ability to play the ball is literally the definition of a foul. horrible refs.
it's a part of the game especially inside game, basketball has a TON of contact and little hidden arm wrestling like this, shooters coming off screens, post players sealing. Part of the game.
it's so deep inside the paint, refs looking at the ball handlers. by the time they look deep, the ball is already on the big man. Part of the game
also a big part is pushing with legs. just arms I don't think you'll move many defenders
i wonder if steve kerr stole this from them?
