Celeste Classic (PICO-8) Full Game - LukePlayzIE
This is my first playthrough of Celeste Classic, a "hardcore platformer" developed for the PICO-8 fantasy/virtual console. Some may be familiar with the more refined, console version of the game that was later released. This gameplay was recorded offline (PICO-8 games are usually played on browser) using the "pemsa" emulator available on Steam.

I really enjoyed the console version of this game so I had to try out the original PICO-8 version. Both strike a balance between being challenging and reflective, while keeping the game mechanics very simple. This isn't a perfect attempt but I managed to reach the summit in good time :)

Super fun games! The final stage of Secret Santa is themed around Nakatomi Plaza in Die Hard, very cool. Blizzard Blowout 64 is also a blast with very straightforward mechanics :)

At this point any racing game that doesnt include collision damage or simulates dirt coverage or scuff marks is already outdated.
I believe this was developed by one person, and for mobile originally. In that context it's quite impressive :)
@LukePlayzIE you're right. That is impressive. Reminds me of the old Sega Rally games of the early 00s.
@DemoNinja79 Definitely! I can kind of remember even Colin McRae Rally on PS1! It has that feel about it. I'm not sure if I'd check out the career mode, but the racing is fun!
@@LukePlayzIE funny story: i played Colin Mcrae Rally on the PS1 and it inspired me to buy the Ford Focus MK1 because of how robust it looked. Good times.

My opinions are mixed... I think the game is fun to play and it does hit that sweet spot of being JUST difficult enough to MAKE you want to try to complete it and learn more about it. However, there's nothing wildly new or exciting about the level design or gameplay. It's relying on tried and tested mechanics/enemies, which is fine, but some players may need more than that to warrant the grind (there's no checkpoints from level 1-1 through to 4-4 at the end). Overall, definitely worth playing considering it's free on Itch. I ran out of steam on the second boss, which I'm still hoping to beat sometime!!

@@Njordin2010 There are general quality of life improvements you can toggle on/off in the main startup menu of Daggerfall Unity! It's really handy and runs great without any extra mods

As I mentioned in the description, this game appears to have been abandoned, having been backed by a community. That's not ideal, or supported. However, the demo is there and it's free for anyone to play. Release stuff aside, it's actually a really fun and visually engaging Shmup!!
