One of my fav from ' the Jam'. Brilliant song on the radio back then, great days. I thought it was a top 2 and didn't realise wasn't top 20 till I looked the other day.

And the lyrics still resonate after all these years.. 'Long Hot Summers' brought it all back for me and now I just can't stop playing, singing and enjoying those memories of yesteryear. Love The Jam, love The Style Council! Paul Weller is still very easy on the eye too, and still sings like it was 1982! WAY too cool. 🤩😍🤩

Sent a major shiver from head to toe stumbling across this. First Jam gig for me and best soul mate and lifle long Weller devotee, Andy Bullock - Strange Town Tour- at the Victoria Hall Hanley summer '79. We met and welcomed the band 'warming-up-' in the Albion. It was all a bit 'alright', 'alright really like 'In The City' you got a scooter then? 'Nah but finkin about it' southern as they wuz. The gig was full of windmills, split jumps, Foxton's 'Jam Shoes' , Buckler chucking broken sticks' and three men performing like four.. Now a Town Turned Malice, his Funeral Pyre was 3 days after this performance, at Carmountside between Milton and Abbey Hulton Stoke-On-Trent a stone's trow from Bagnall Hospital where my brother was revived in an oxygen tent post birth (talking the 1960's). I lived at a couple of addresses in Northwood and Birches Head - half way between The Vic Hall and Carmountside but have never been to Stone Henge, if Lay lines were credible Weller would have divined Dylan better,

The reason it was never no1 in the charts was it was released only on import.It wasn't an official single.

He would never do a Jam reunion. Just for a tiny top draw tour. He'd get embarrassed by the other 2/3 of the original Jam members.

Paul Weller must of been really disappointed that. That's Entertainment only got 2. Number 21 in the charts. Epy when he was drunk. When he wrote. This ace song ie That's Entertainment. I really adore the track. Paul Weller is fantastic. 2nd only 2 my all time heroes ie The Human League. Both r a billion times better than anything that Simon Carol can ever come out with.

"That's Entertainment" "Town Called Malice" "Shout to the Top" It seems that this area has become a staple in live performances, but I'd like to see more and more older songs. This person is writing a lot of good songs.

Oh how i wish I was there. I remember my youth, nights in the 80's spent at his gigs with the Jam. Met him once backstage in Blackpool. He still has it. and the crowd still know ALL the words. Legend. This, Tubestation and English Rose, his best work of the Jam days.

A hot summers day and sticky black tarmac - from The Jam to now this is the most perfect lyric Weller has written - and so many to choose from. More people need to talk about just how amazing his song writing was - and sometimes still is. A real national treasure and he still means it every time he takes to the stage.
