Very imformative Esperanza! Well done Liam. Ryan
Nice piece im related to some people you mentioned. Where were headwaters of indian creek?
I used to see it daily when I lived at Travis. And also later when I visited my GF in Walnut Creek. Glad I found this!
Was there ever a neighborhood just called Rich in Contra Costa? I found my grandpa's draft card online from right after WW2 and his address was in Rich, Contra Costa, California. I don't know if people just called Richmond, Rich, but when I searched for it, the AI result summary said: "Contra Costa County, located in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area, is a diverse county with a population of over 1.16 million residents. Within this county, the neighborhood of Rich is situated in an unincorporated area, meaning it is not part of a specific city or town." But, I can't actually find anything written by a person about "Rich". His street Greenwood Dr. passes through San Pablo.
Great work
I've hiked the east side of Mt. Diablo and surrounding hills (Black Diamond Mines, Round Valley, Morgan Territory) and have always been fascinated by the geology. Still get out there 2-3 times a week. Thanks for sharing with us.
Very Interesting Informarion Sir.take care

I served as an Alameda County reserve deputy sheriff from 1973 to 1979 had received a non duty related medical retirement. I really appreciate your work on this. I was riding patrol the night of the chowchilla bus kidnapping. Retired reserve deputy Sheriff #1286 Donald Campbell.
The geology there is soooooo cool. Thank you.
I used to Live in Walnut Creek in 1980's
I've been there , Also lived near by
is the geological society of Mt Hamilton (where the Lick Observatory is located) similar?
My father's name was John Muir - he wrote the VW book
As a child, I would spend summers with my grandparents. It was such fun, and they used to take me to Mr. and Mrs. Boone‘s house while they played cards in the evening when my grandfather died Mr. Boone helped my grandmother a lot while she lived there another 15 years. They never had a new children. The Boone did not so I had to really behave myself when we went over there. Lol. I have so many stories, and I also would like to know if my picture is still in the museum with Mr. Bishop and my grandfather.
I’m sure you are familiar with the glass house and you know it was moved from its original place to the Boone Farm. My grandfather, John Amarant and my grandmother Annie had the ranch next-door to the glass house. He had 140 acres that he bought in 1920 he sold all but 2 acres in 1948 to Dr. Henry A veterinarian. I am 83 years old and 20 years ago. I took my dad to the museum and Danville and the lady got out a large yellow tablet and started writing everything down that my dad said. Dad was born in 1918 when we went there I had planned ahead I was visiting my cousin in Danville and I donated a photo of my dad and my uncle Ed Amarant and my grandfather and a 5 x 7 photo with Mr. Bishop my grandfather worked for Mr. Bishop During the depression, I have a lot to talk about if you would like to contact me . Memories galore at 83. I’ve never forgotten anything. I remember when my dad and my uncle went to war and my grandfather to calm his nerves and anxiety built a barn up at the top of the hill for his cows but then when he sold the property to Dr. Henry the barn went with it I have a photo of it. This video is well worth watching. I am married to the young man who is a part of this moving company and I cannot be more proud of him and his family. Amazing work and dedication to the Lopez House Movers! -Vianca Valencia-Lopez 🎉
I used to ride my bike on that trail to the original John Baldwin elementary school in the late 80s.
Interesting. I was curious if there'd be any mention of the old Eastman Kodak distribution center in San Ramon, which (I think) used the branch for freight until the line closed. The warehouse had its own siding. For those unaware, Kodak had a huge building at the corner of Alcosta and Village Pkway at the San Ramon-Dublin boundary, where the Walmart neighborhood market and the houses and Village Green Park now stand, not to be confused with the long-disappeared 1960s-era Alcosta Mall, which was located across Village Pkwy. Kodak vacated the site circa 1986 or 87 and consolidated their distribution operations to the L.A. area. They maintained their former building; it was in an almost park-like setting, similar to Chevron Park but a single structure. It remained vacant for many years until its demolition to make way for the current shopping center and housing tract.
Excellent !!
Great video. Thanks for making it.
Outstanding presentation. Excellent local history work. Should be on NMRA and California Railroad Museum website.
This is a great video of the early parts of our beautiful area here in the SRV !!
Thank you, Bill, for huge amount of time, energy, and brain power it took for you to put this amazing history record!
I think they made it. Had a boat waiting for them. Dropped some clues willingly to throw off investigation including the family photos which many thought was too sentimental to leave behind. These guys were too clever to not think of every possible scenerario of what could go wrong and to divert the investigation.
This was a terrific program. Very informative. Congratulations on your book John. I expect laborers who might not be literate payed someone who was literatie to write and send letters back to China, especially if they were sending funds back to their family. If it were possible, if families in China saved the letters from their fathers, that would tell more of their stories. However, probably much is lost in the many internal conflicts in China, the Sino-Japanese Wars, WWII, Civil War between the KMT and Communist China.
Thank you for sharing this presentation! My book club in the Chicago suburbs is reading John Muir’s “My First Summer in the Sierra” and this is a great supplement.
Great job! Thank you for putting this together!
Great video, I've been studying the history of Canyon for a while and looking for something like this. This is a great source of information straight from someone from there and I love it!
That's a funny way of spelling "Kim Kardashian".
Skip to 5:00 and avoid all the BS !
Thank you for the good content.
Fantastic history 👏 I wish we could undertake projects like this in the present day.
Today I think he would be horrified to know what geoengineering / 5g and Haarp are doing to the wilderness..and to our world
That's sad that he lost his best friend Stickine.i saw recently another book I'd like to about his trip in Alalaska..
I found out through a family search that John Muir's father Daniel Muir and my great great grandmother were brother and sister.. so I have been learning all about John Muir. Sad that some would label him a racist the last 2 years. Thankfully I know that most white ppl at that time held the same view but I also know he changed his view totally about that once he realised how important the indigenous people and black ppl were to him and the landscape. He also realised that he didn't have the same mindset as those who were hell bent on destroying the land when there was mass profits to be made.
Beat that bitch whoop that trick bitches got me acting buck and shit hoes tellin me to calm down but im like Fuck that shit!
Hello from Kansas 🇺🇸
why there is no railroad or VTA connectivity to San Ramon?
Hi Naini, The railroad existed until 1978 when they received permission to close down service and the tracks were removed the same year. The cost of expanding BART or similar service is so expensive that we'll probably never see it here in the valley.
@@hobart2954 Thank you for great information and it is so sad that we will not see rail road here soon
@@hobart2954 I love you with all my heart. You are a precious human being.
Excellent! Have lived here since 2001, and it was nice to see my street, Canyon Creek Drive, on the old map before anything was even built!
What about the history of the military testing radioactive waste on soil, animals, military and their families without their knowledge? You didn't say anything about that. Not even a mention?
I went to that school 1983 to 1985 CALIFORNIA HIGH SCHOOL Russell Eskew went to Venture Independent Study 1986 m.ua-cam.com/users/justplayman
My biological grandfather harry albert kennedy is buried there
Thank you so much!
Is there any account of John Muir visiting Mt. Diablo? Or did he ever say or write anything about Mt. Diablo?
Amazing presentation! Thank you so much!
It would be interesting to know how the water flows through the temple. I remember back in the 60s the water flow was huge. There seems to be a larger chamber below the temple.
I haven't been out there for many years. I hope the center and whatnot come to fruition and SFPUC is able to have opening hours when people can actually visit it. Last I was there it was only open during the week like 9-5, if that. Everyone's at work or school then. Close a couple of days during the week and make it available over the weekend.
Fabulous piece. Very well done!
