MC 900 FT JESUS Live at Moers New Jazz Festival 1992
About 47 minutes of a live show we did in Moers, Germany on June 7, 1992. I don't think it was broadcast, but rather was shown on closed circuit TVs scattered around the festival. Someone recorded it and gave me a copy, but unfortunately they stopped the tape before the end of the set. Still, it's some of the best footage I have of the band from those days. Features Chris McGuire on reeds, Baby G on turntables, and Mitch Marine on drums.

A friend mentioned this recently. Well, she’s more than a friend, she’s an ex-girlfriend from the 80s. I hadn’t thought of it in years. My lingering impression is of a pretentious title. I hate when I’m pretentious. But maybe it’s worth looking at again. I played with a band called Telefones in the early 80s. The three Dirkx brothers and myself. We rehearsed in their Mom’s garage. Their sister ...

Another Levis ad using my song, "Falling Elevators." Someone else already uploaded a copy of this, I just wanted it in my channel because I like it so much.
WHFS Parody of MC 900 FT JESUS "The City Sleeps"
Переглядів 3,2 тис.10 років тому
Back in the 90s, WHFS was a great commercial alternative station serving the Baltimore/Washington area. They played my music a lot. One day I was at the station doing an interview with Bob Waugh, their program director, to plug an upcoming show. Someone played this song for me, and of course I loved it. At the time, "The City Sleeps" was one of their most-played songs. Apparently they would thr...
But If You Go un-aired video

The lovely Karen Black appears briefly in this video directed by Melodie McDaniel. Shot in 1994(?) It never aired. I hope Melodie doesn't get pissed at me for posting this lo-fi dub of her rough cut now; it's the only copy of this I have. Anyway, Karen Black tolerated my doofus "acting" and was charming the whole day. I will love her always.

After 2 gigs in Colorado, we flew to San Diego for a 2-car drive up the west coast. Our first day was a day off. Three of us elected to take one of the cars and head to the beach.

One of the mc 900 tours was completed with a combination of rental cars and air travel. The band consisted of: Chris McGuire, tenor and soprano sax, sometimes cowbell ... Jorge Garza aka Baby G, turntables ... and Chris Dirkx, drums. Oh, and Yours Truly. Anyway, this is pretty much my home movies, so you'll not see a lot of mc 900 performance here. Lane Dunlop was our road manager for these sho...

... Wherein Lane re-creates John Wilkes Booth's escape from Ford's Theater. We played the 930 club in DC a few times. Outside their back door is the back door of Ford's Theater. Here's a nice bit with Lane, Lori, Baby G, Josh. A nice rat search occurs.

Rhubarb

On my third album (One Step Ahead Of The Spider), there's a song called "Rhubarb." The voices on that song came from this bit of videotape that I shot in La Rochelle, France in 1992. That night we had played at a little bar/hotel, and we were unwinding after the show in our rooms upstairs from the gig. I got the urge to play around with my camera a bit, and was lucky enough to capture this conv...

MC 900 FT JESUS "Falling Elevators"
HFS is a relic of a lost era. We live in a fallen world.
Thank goodness this recording exists. Now everybody shut up and leave me alone...
Best version is best.
I wish I could like a video more than once.

Great show and I remember when me and my Mom was that Record Tyme record store in Roseville, Michigan and she bought me hell with the lid off back in 1992 because they were playing the demo while we were browsing and I really liked what I heard and I still play that cassette tape!💯🎶🤩👌🏼
tight
DOOOOOOOOPE!! Could this be the very show I met you at in Atlanta, Georgia? The venuye was called the Masquerade.....Still one of the BEST live shows ever. The show was a bouble bill with Consolidated.
I loved all your records...hope you're doing well!
this makes me so happy. love mc 900 ft jesus.
Man what a time capsule, takes me back to a better time and not only in my life but a better time for society in general. The 90s was the last decade that society had a good time.
Bought this album in 1990 just from the cover. Revisit it a lot recently. MC was dope in an alternative way before 'alternative' hip hop. The DJ on the album was dope but the show DJ here was brilliant as shown in his segment during the show. This is an excellent live show all round with the sax/clarinet player who is on point too, his licks keep inside the jazz/funk domain keeping the whole show tight. One of those groups that were a bit too far ahead of their time and under appreciated at the time. Props to the drummer too. This is a tight set!
Completely agree with your words!
I am your 666th subscriber.
Loved it,but It made my head ache.Real Black Angel.
I like seeing Godflesh now and the late 80s and 90s.I saw Mc 900 ft Jesus in 93 orso.
I got to know you from the Falling Elevators. Then I heard Bill's Dream and never stopped listening to you. Even though you unfortunately stopped.
I remember this like it was yesterday. It was yesterday. 😂❤
fantastic!
Thx mark T. Good to Hear you again and again
Soundtrack of my youth.... Interestingly...you were way before Eminem.. and you weren't talking about throwing up on yourself, but you lit the fires while the city sleeps. Also clearly you're more musically trained. I liked that sinister edge...skateboarding to alternative nightclubs was the 900ft Jam.
My heart aches for the lack of footage from the One Step Ahead Of The Spider tour. It was so amazing.
Wow.
You’re one of a kind. I celebrate your entire catalogue. Someone recently asked for a recommendation for “esoteric hip hop” and you were the first artist that came to mind.
This is so hip man. Very cool imagery. I never knew.
So good man.

The big hoss himself... CHRIS McG on saxes and bass clarinet! #legend
We want you here in Amsterdam! Live at the Paradiso!!! Next week!
👌🏻
thank you so much for publishing this! Can someone post a tracklist, that would be so appreciated!
Oh my God...bring it BACK! This rips!!
DJ Baby G took my place on the tour.😂😂😂
You were always asking for your PDs. “Hey Lane, can I have my PDs?” Love you, Zero.
@Lane Dunlop I needed them for the Red Light District remember? 😂😂😂😂
Hey Zero do you remember that white girl named Shannon that you had sex with in Oklahoma City in 1991 after you played a show with MC 900 at a club that was in a huge old church?
Damn so good
This is such a bad ass set! Thanks for sharing!!!
"Falling Elevators" is such a great opener (both for shows and on the Welcome to My Dream album!). Similar to other folks here, I've seen y'all live twice (once in the early 90's in Austin, and a few years ago at Kessler in Dallas), hoping to do so again sometime!
I usually hate covers, but this one is not bad. That you could share a parody of your own work, only increases my respect. I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you this, but if imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, parody is at least a notch higher.
Thank you much for sharing.
Attention millennials and gen Z: if you somehow found yourself here by your own dumb luck - know that these levels of cool are not possible for your generations. Hang it up now.
dude I'm a millenial, born 1981, and i been listening to this shit since 1996
I wish I could have been in that audience
it's time to make the donuts... Bob Waugh was a huge part of the "Dare to Be Different" 1980s era of WLIR-FM in Garden City, NY
I hope you won't be mad, but I worked on this barnburner for a while and made it, dare I say, even mightier: nowbodhis-blissness.blogspot.com/2022/06/yall-motherfuckers-need-jesus.html IMO you should release it again, lossless this time and with the repaired tape flip :D
“Hi! I’m Mc 9-0-0, how ya doing? Too bad you’re going to die.” Bars
I missed u in Berlin..same year...large regret...and your live versus studio production is simply awesum...
You’re one of my favorite music artist ever, sir. I bought the ..Wid The Lid Off cassette on LSU’s campus in Baton Rouge, and played it uncharted amount of times. It helped me through each day.
‘Because Baboons… have they own… female… species!’ .
i saw your show in milwaukee wisconsin 91ish. you opened wearing a straight jacket and proceeded to escape! a testament to your showmanship. those were some good days my friend. still on the top of my playlist. johnny on the spot!!
