It crushes me every time that I remember what my “friend” said in front of me in her car. “I don't have a friend without (her new best friend’s name).” Hearing those words coming out of her mouth while being serious shattered me into pieces. I realize that I’m only a side friend all this time where she only loves me because she wants me around… not because she loves me as a human being who has been there for her lowest and highest. She never sees me as her best friend despite keeping our friendship for almost 5 years now. It was the biggest betrayal I experienced. Nothing will hurt more than your friend being insensitive and not caring about hurting your feelings only to address that “she does not have a friend just because her NEW best friend is not around.” Looking back at it, I ignored so many red flags because I tried to be understanding of her because I value her as my best friend and our friendship. But, it was one-sided all this time. It hurts so much. Now, thanks to this song I can’t stop sobbing.
