My channel aims to capture some of the experiences I've had with cars and provides reviews on cars I think have fallen under the radar. I just can't get enough of owning, driving and experiencing a wide variety of cars but my interests may be considered rather niche! I hope to cover a wide range of the activities I do with cars, such as driving on track, owning rather special cars, fixing cars and going on rather epic car trips!
These are all cars I was going to buy anyway, or have been able to get access to. I do not buy cars or do things just for my channel, and cover things I am genuinely interested in. I have friends who question my car choices or rationale, and others interested in other activities so I thought I'd start documenting it for those who might be interested!
I'm still quite new to all this, so please bear with me, I welcome your feedback and I will hopefully get more confident and get some better footage and some more interesting cars too!

Welcome to the second episode of the podcast! In this extended episode, i have a guest, in the form of fellow car enthusiast and carmanick regular - Matt.
IN this episode i share a bit of car news, an update on the carmanick fleet (or car sanctuary!) and my main topic which is Vauxhall, why we should celebrate it, but also why it might need a revolution...
I'll look to invest in a proper microphone for the next one!

In this episode I explore whether a Kei car class in Japan may be an opportunity to introduce and encourage smaller and more efficient vehicles in Europe again, following legislation that has forced cars to become larger and more expensive. Big thankyou to Matt Bearman for the incredible drone footage. The drone control is so impressive, and I can't believe how well the footage came out. This drone was also home made! The aerial footage gives such a great appreciation of the track layout. Somehow, the opening talk is out of sync. Not sure how, as they audio was never separated, so appears to be an issue with my editing software. H...

Vel Satis and Safrane were the best ones from Renault imo
The car was way ahead of it's time, what a lovely car
Trunk Looks like Volkswagen
I remember seeing the very odd Citroen C6 on the road. It looked superb, there was nothing else like it. Great to see all the details.
cut the music, mate.
I have 2.0 turbo is like a ship 🚢
@@microfanka oh awesome! What country are you from? Do you mean it is like a ship because it is big or because it is fast?
Is fast is heavy. I was drive clio, punto... Smaller cars and i buy this is my dream car i am from serbia
@@microfanka that's brilliant. Im glad there is one in Serbia, they seem quite rare everywhere! What colour is your Vel Satis and how long have you owned it? I think the 2.0 engine does well in the Vel Satis despite being the smallest engine
Is ok engine 3 week i have, dark blue metalic is cool car i am so happy
@@microfanka awesome I am glad. Good luck with it and thanks for watching and commenting. It is a special car!
How much fuel this car use for driving? 8? 10? Liters?
@@jackdaniels5489 hi, so my car is a 2.7 V6 diesel. Day to day I get about 34 mpg which is about 7l/100km.
Such an amazing car
@@Murlock2000 I agree :)
front bumper have difference color
@@Aif29 I can see why you'd say that after watching the video again but it definitely isn't in real life. Must be the lighting / dirt?
the bumper is made out of plastic and the fender is metal , thats why they are a "different color"
@@Djvimp10 @Djvimp10 I know but this shouldn't happen, I had a 2021 Citroën berlingo and now a 2024 Peugeot expert for work and there is a demarcation between bumper and wing but both ar plastic, they didn't solve the problem. I can't imagine the real customer who receives his car with this problem.
I've got a 2006 crossfire and it's a awesome car to drive sounds amazing and everyone looks at it and says to me "Nice car" Future Classic In my eyes!
@@kickboxer050779 brilliant. Absolutely agree, although can't say I got the same admiration! Glad you enjoy yours and hope you continue to. Thanks for watching and commenting

@@jacamo1993 there's a fair few that's been imported over the years now. I would say there's at least 100 in the UK and that's probably growing!
Very nice cars
@@Bespoketailoring I would say so!
It’s quirky but I love it
0:08 use wireless microphone please
Yeah I recorded this a while ago, and had various audio problems, from microphones to my editing software (uploading to UA-cam makes everything quieter for example?!). Thanks for watching
I need to straight pipe mine
I want this for my first car
Glad you like it as much as I do, which is why I imported it! Some videos over on my channel including collection caper from the port, MOT day which was the first UK drive, and some service and repairs I've done. Next shows are Haynes Breakfast - French day on 6th October, then French Day at Oulton Park Circuit 12th October.
@@Channel205UK it's a very interesting car, and your comment to bringing it over is amazing. Great to spread awareness of different cars, and this represents also the type of car that is popular in South America / Brazil (I guess the fiat and vw models are more popular). I will check out your content! I'm hoping to be at oulton park once I work out which french car to take!
I never realised the glass on rear lifts up with the boot the way it does!
Yeah the tailgate is pretty wild, wrap around. It's actually sheet moulded plastic (so really light), which was pretty advanced at the time . Many cars have plastic/SMC tailgates now
Great video, loving the Avantime and also love the wee models of the car too!
@@CarsofGlasgow haha thankyou. That model has sat on the dash since I bought my Avantime 11 years ago. I had the 1:43 model first, then upgraded to the 1:1!
@@carmanick wow that is fantastic!! I am still on the hunt for a Lexus LC model (that looks like mine).
@CarsofGlasgow that's amazing you have an LC. not enough people were brave enough to buy one. Has to be one of the most beautiful and shockingly designed car of the 21st century. Is yours the hybrid or V8 NA?
Great video, I am a fan of these Aygo X cars
Muy bueno
use external mic next time. lots of shit noise 😵. Your complain that it does not have future shit what that years vw have is silly. It feels different in a good way when swaping from german car that is the verdict.
@@LBerniusthanks for watching. this was a long time ago now and I worked with my GoPro which clearer wasn't great. I was just comparing it to similar cars of the year, it's an amazing car but for those that aren't familiar with them, they might find it a bit old fashioned in places. My french cars (which are slightly older) are a bit more advanced in terms of some tech, but nowhere near as exciting as this legacy, which has to be one of suabeus best ever cars, definitely compared to the new stuff!
Good video, I was hoping you'd show that the compressor for suspension can be used to inflate the tires, the connector for the hose is under front seat.
@@thedevhow thankyou! To be honest I'm not sure I knew that! That's brilliant.
Fantastic GT cars these. I love mine, 05 manual and with 130k on the clock its a pure toy. Not my daily. These do get a lot of hate as they look different with the art deco styling. They stand out and people have trouble with things different from the norm. A bit like my love of the band Devo. You cannot compare them to anything else and people are mostly frightened of things that do not conform. I always think to myself "great. You are triggered. That makes me love them even more". Who wants to blend into the crowd?
Are you introducing my vehicle or activating a feature of it with the action you take?
Hello, can you explain what you do by pressing the remote control button on the vehicle and opening the glove box and pressing the start button?
The remote control unlocks the doors, the start button turns the car on, when the keyboard is put in the slot.
I'm just trying to show my car makes some funny or unusual noises!
used for probaly about 13k
Hello, good day, good luck, can I get information about what you did?
Hi sorry could you explain your question please?
Concave window is WILD.
Just to let you know , If you hold the heater switches in the up or down position the temperature changes very quickly. Clicking it 52 times must be driving you mad ?
It looks like a car made for class2 diplomatic Chargé d' Affaires or something
If only Citroen's electrical systems were reliable. Apart from that it's one brand that literally created production cars that most manufacturers only showed as concepts.
Seats look like straight out of American 1970s luxo-boats, I love it
Haha they are pretty special. Not sat in seats in another car like it !
@@carmanick do u still have the car? How did it hold up? My biggest fear buying one would be to find a qualified mechanic to work on it
@royale7620 I do! Coming up to 4 years of ownership. To be honest I try and do all repairs myself. Mechanically it's quite conventional, but it does seem to have some quirky faults that take me some time to diagnose. I imagine not many garages would be willing to fix them. There are Renault specialists but the Vel Satis isn't so common that even those haven't worked on many of these. It's well engineered, it was an expensive development program for Renault, but after 21 years all cars have their problems! It just has some novel features on it! My next job is replacing the faulty electronic handbrake! Getting some.parts is the biggest challenge. There's not a big following for this car, so many are scrapped when they have problems. Of the 1250 sold in the UK, there's less than 10% of them still roadworthy
@@carmanick Im in Romania and there are currently 7 for sale, the most expensive ones being with the 3.0 diesel at 4000 euro and cheapest a junk one with the 2.2 for 1100, I found some nice ones ranging from 2700 to 3200 in the Netherlands with the 2.0 diesel and petrol, thinking of buying a cheap spare one for parts, I can do basic work myself but big stuff would be better for mechanics who know their stuff, I guess its worth a shot calling my local Renault dealership
Direct TPMS sounds more practical👍
@@vivekjaiswal2422 yeah it sure is. It's much more useful and informative but it's more expensive for car companies to fit, and there's more to go wrong over time. Direct is less likely to work on older cars as the batteries in tyres are not likely to be replaced !
@@carmanick I agree what you told for old cars, since I have a new car with active TPMS in built, now it's very convenient for me to check the tyre pressure accurately in day to day running. I am assuming my old car had indirect TPMS that was also good.
Frameless back doors are awesome
They are, but when the seals get older, wind noise is an issue.

I have a 2005 Limited Roadster Convertible and I love it. Top down cruising at night it’s just you and the stars. Peaceful. Only thing I really hate is it doesn’t matter what the repair is it’s going to be a pain in the butt to get fixed and expensive.
@@casualworgen Oh wow very nice. The convertible is such a lovely shape, I think it really makes the most of the proportions and gives you an alternative if you're not keen on the curved back end of the coupe! What colour is your car? I was quite lucky, i didn't need to do much apart from routine servicing, changed the rear diff oil, full services (which is like Noah's ark, two of everything, spark plugs, and air filters!) and some new tyres and brakes. Mine was a 2007 so a late one and in the UK that meant road tax was very high! Thanks for watching and commenting and all the best with yours
@@carmanick I made it my daily driver and it’s never let me down. After work I put the top down and cruise home.

@@casualworgen very nice, same colour as mine then? I think it's perhaps the most popular colour, at least for the coupe. Lovely colour it is too, shows the creases clearly
@@carmanick It’s a great color. Only color I owned nicer was my brand new 2004 Scion Tc I ordered in 2003. Its was Indigo Blue Pearl. Wish I could share a picture on here I’d show ya
and then there is the bmw e63
@@da_fluffi did the cup holder of the 6 series just clip onto the console ?
Wow!! Never seen anything like it!
If it's a 2003 it has the 0.7l engine I believe.
Mate, you'd find small faults with the interior of a brand new Bentley! I can't condemn my Mk 7 Golf in any way.....I love it. I'd happily upgrade to a SV model for all of the practical reasons of having one.
@@tbeau6663 haha well some people say Renault's interior aren't great but I'd argue otherwise so perhaps that's my comparison! I do think the GT model makes up for some of it, the climate controls are much nicer for one! The Golf 7 is a brilliant car, it'll go down as one of the best ever Golfs. I do think you don't lose much going to the SV but gain a lot of extra versatility. Not many alternatives really
Great doors, too bad they were massively heavy at 5g kilos (123 lbs) despite being made of plastic.

I'm confused. After such praise, I expected you to conclude: "To my greatest regret, I must part with it. If you are interested make me an offer..." But no; none of that. All these compliments are therefore free. So I say Bravo! Vel Satis has found its master in Great Britain. He even likes the exterior style. Thank you Mr. Carmanick for these enlightened comments. May this beautiful car allow you to drive many miles!
Haha thankyou. No I bought this for me, and I hence want to share why I love it so. I've had her 4 years now, and spent a lot this year getting some paintwork done, the headlining retrimmed and now new springs and dampers! Far from perfect but far too special to not care for! Thanks for watching and commenting :). Some of my other cars I don't keep as long, but this is a lifer, along with a couple of others I am fortunate to own.

the trouble is people use far to bigger cars for what they need. most these bigger cars were designed for the autobahn in Germany which is much superior to our roads not for a small island like ours and the substandard roads we have. the aygo x is a perfect size car for most people
