Can't wait to see your reaction now to the movie. I saw the movie before the book. Loved the movie and felt that reading the book as a follow-up gave added details. I'm surprised by how many book fans are really angry about the changes that had to be made to the story to fit it into the two-hour time slot that Amazon required. From all the interviews and the purposely included references in the movie (like Ellen saying she wished she had time to make a Powerpoint presentation, which in the book she actually did), it seems that the book was loved and respected by all involved. (And of course, the author was included during the filming.) Looking forward to your reaction to seeing the movie.

I had not heard anything of the book until the movie came out, and watched that first. Yes, the book is over 400 pages and Amazon insisted the movie was limited to two hours - and it looks like a series was out of the question. So for a lot of the book-first fans, they are upset because so much had to be left out of the movie. (Almost all book to movie adaptations suffer from that.) Seeing the movie first means when I went to the book, it felt was it was an expansion of the story. The movie gave me a clear idea (of course) of what the characters looked like, which helps when reading the book. Among the many people who do love the movie, I am just one more of these who has gotten hyper-fixated on it. I read the book twice, in between binge-watching the movie, every clip, interview, blooper reel, and reaction video. To be so completely obsessed with a movie is NOT like me at all. I do have a number of favorite movies and over the years (I'm 73), have watched them many times, but spaced out - maybe every other year, something like that. Here I am with RWRB watching bits and pieces and the full deal DAILY. Each time I laugh at the same funny spots and tear up at the numerous tender movements, and each time, I notice the more subtle nuances of how the actors' facial expressions bring life to the story. As a gay man, I've seen the decades when anything queer was kept as invisible as possible. When not, it was to be laughed at and/or feared. I remember the milestones such as the release of The Boys in the Band - which portrayed a group of gay men as backstabbing and bitchy. (We are only that way on occasion.) I remember how the straight world was stunned that there was an actual gay man in the army, one who won the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. His photo appeared on the cover of Time magazine. I participated in a lot of "speakers' forums" where a bunch of us would be invited to a college or organization to speak about who and what we were. Most people in the audience back then had never met an "actual homosexual" (at least not knowing they were). Fighting the misconception that a queer teacher would flip the entire class from straight to LGBT+. So the story, both movie and book, is the first cheesy goofy sweet romcom where I don't have to mentally transpose the gender of one of the main characters in an attempt to relate to the story. A queer story, and one with no tragic suicides or painful endings. I just love this story. I look forward to your reaction when you finish the book and also after you see the movie.

Congrats! Also, I don't think you have to wait over a month or even a full month to go up to a 2g/6mm since there is only a 0.5mm difference from 3g/5.5mm. Btw I love the blooper at the end. 😂 (I believe I'm the first subscriber)
