I loved this adaptation, it was on TV here in U.K, having been a joint British and U.S production. I was 12 years old and loved classic sci fi. Those were more innocent and care free days. I know people grumble about it, but I think they did a great job. A TV mini series was never going to be an exact cooy of the book.

The interesting thing about This story is that , although this is Ray Bradburys most famous story , he was not a science fiction writer but a fantasy writer , and so considered himself

I worked in a restaurant much like the diner in this show. Middle of the day the lunch crowd would consist mostly of the employees. And on a street known as hamburger row. Lol. It was a very short lived franchise in 1978 called "JUDY'S JUDY'S JUDY'S ".

Love this, I had forgotten the story, but seeing this reminded me about the books I’ve read of Ray Bradbury’s, one of my favorite authors of fiction. Some of these science fictions have a way of becoming fact in life, like the computers, AI intelligence, CGI technology, robots, rocket ships, etc, which was in many science fiction books in the 1940s. You just had to read them and read between the lines to figure it out much later on with today’s science/space news, like predictions in time and today’s events …. 👍❤️🙏🏼

Awesome, I haven’t seen this in ages….owned and read many of Bradbury’s books…..love them all. Also, Used to have a CD of it many years ago, but lost it when moving. I think this was one of Rock Hudson’s last films. I enjoyed this, thank you for sharing…👍❤️🙏🏼

I met Ray Bradbury in 1970 at a sci fi writers convention called Worldcon. He was introduced to me by his longtime friend Forrest J. Ackerman, whom I also met there, and their mutual friend Ray Harryhausen. The famous "Two Rays and a Forry". I kept in touch with all three of them until one by one they passed away. It's a shame this movie wasn't made as a big budget theatrical feature film instead of a TV special, it would have been much better and more faithful to his wonderful book. It was released in 1976, the year before STAR WARS would change Hollywood forever.

Rock Hudson's only science fiction film, if we don't count the psychological horror thriller, John Frankenheimer's SECONDS (1966).

This is a 70s sci fi movie on Mars. If we humans did not learn well end up like a dead civilization globsl watming threat of War nukes. Maybe it happened to the red planet Mars a entire civilization wiped out. I have read the book of Chariots of the Gods. Many ET races are still visiting Earth in UFOs from different star systems n perhaps have avoided to destroy themselves. US Government military Deep State have covered it up since Roswell n Kenneth Arnold incidents. Since then countless UFO sightings Alien abduction stories rumors of Dark Pyramid in Alaska all classified n covered up. In reality NASA knows truth about the red planet Mars. The truth Alien researchers like Mike Bara exposed n youtube channels like Zohar Ancient Discoveries expose about ruins artifacts anomalies n weird damaged machines that still lie on the surface of Mars. According to NASA Scientist John Brandenburg Mars was nuked by another ET race 1 billion years ago. According Mr Al Beilik who was a young sailor during the Philadelphia experiment NASA has already explored underground caverns underneath deep beneath n they found power source buit by some unknown ET Martian race that might have built them.

I'm a huge Ray Bradbury fan. I met him once and the most delightful chat with him especially about his short story "The Lake". He grabbed my hands and held them tight while telling me all about that story being the first he'd ever written and it was at that time that he knew he wanted to be a writer for his life. This was on an autograph line of people waiting to meet him at the Library of Congress (1981?). People on line were asking me "What story was that? Never heard of it." I'm sure he didn't care for the production of it on the series as I thought it was terrible. Anyway, he said "God bless you son, God bless you!" I'm 73 and that memory will be forever with me.

Mars is assumed to have breathable air in the Martian Chronicles and liquid water and warm temperatures and enough air pressure to not need a spacesuit when the truth is Mars is far less hospitable than the most extreme places on Earth, it gets colder than anyplace on Earth, the air is much thinner than the top of Everest and it's much drier than any desert, there are no canals on Mars and any pure liquid water would quickly boil away into vapor. Mars is basically unlivable and in this story the Earth the only place that we can live is at war, a war that leads to the complete destruction of the planet by nuclear war, the same direction that Biden has us going in, but there will be no escape to Mars from Biden's blunders.
