The Lancaster, California "Musical Road" (William Tell Overture's _Rossini_ ) is out of tune due to a miscommunication during construction. Four inches of space is to be provided between each peak (center) of a groove, and the peak (center) of the next groove. Incorrectly, the workers provided four inches of space between the edge of a groove, and the edge of the next groove. The entire stretch of road featuring the musical grooves is out of tune by one octave.

Here's the rocket science part that nobody gets. It only plays the melody correctly at the speed limit. The melody intervals are distorted at 100 miles per hour. The intervals are compressed. They're too close together
