*Where am I today on the Isle of Arran? The answer's at the end of this video! ...but can you guess where before I tell you? Towards the end of the video is a clip of an oystercatcher buzzing me as I tried to walk away from it's nest at the beach. This video is for Sam Ridley from Menstrie in Clachmannanshire as he's just gone home after a lovely visit and won't be back on the island until Autu...

WHat a blessing to have the love of running and have such a place to run! Good to sit with you for a few minutes, Dave! Keep well and thank you for sharing your thoughts and your beautiful piece of the world.
That ruddy spell checker is at it again. Meant to read golf balls and a lovely wee doggy.
A couldnae be bothered hittin the Gulf Valls but that was a lovely wee foggy.
Not being an Arranite, you could have been ablow lots of different brigs knowing you so I had no idea where you were. Just hope that you got back up through the jungle OK.
Not the Distillery David. That is the new Lochranza village Hall. Born and bred in Lochranza. Used to be packed in the summer early and mid sixties with the Steamers coming in every day from Glasgow. The little ferry started in 1972 or 1973. My Father was the Piermaster for about 11 years. And he owned the Arran paper round business. Love your videos. Brings me back so many memories for me. I reckon I have been around the island roughly 750 times!
My home for over fifteen years. Drove a bit fast. You totally missed the Golf Course. Music 😳😅😎
Didnae get it the day.
Was great to see you in person today!
Yes and a great day to be out and about on Arran
I'm no good at birds but I got the reaction from oyster catchers as they were nested on the beach and wanted me away from their eggs. In Tighnabruaich the birds were at see and I nearly stood on the eggs they were so well disguised. Lived just outside Tighnabruaich for nearly a year and not managed to get over yet but it's on the list of places I visit xx
Yes, I'll have to keep my eyes open more for any eggs for sure. I hope you get over to Tighnabruaich soon
I remember a School trip on the Waverley very early 1980`s, Picked us up in Dublin port took us on a short trip down the coast to Wexford, Unfortunately the weather got bad on the return & i turned decidedly green with the motion of the ship & passed out, Great days..
Gosh, I was once so seasick on MV Isle of Arran that I wanted to jump overboard...but I didn't pass out! That's seriously seasick. Well, hopefully that never happens again 🙂
There is a film for you Dave : The Lonelyness of the long distance runner. Remember you are also running for us : you are not alone ....
Aw. Yes, this film would be great. I read the book many years ago when I was a child and still remember it well. A great story. I will try to watch the film thank you. Glad that I'm not alone 🙂
Your wearing a shirt of my favourite colour. Lang May yer lum reek Dave.
Yes, a nice bright colour 🙂
I was camping there for a few days this past week - I left on Wednesday morning. Those three cows and two calves wandered past my tent twice a day and were no problem - in past years I've been there when there's been about a dozen cows with their calves and a bull the size of a garden shed.
Lovely to see the Waverley again even though I'm on the other side of the world. Bless her and all who sail on her.
Quantum physics.
The rollout of the goals of Agenda 21.
Hey Dave. Now that they’ve cleaned up Arrans beaches, maybe the next step is to add some artificial reefs. Besides adding an aquatic habitat, they should channel all those sloppy waves into something more coherent and surfable on longboards. Drumadoon looks surfable when it’s kickin off. Ps. How’s your tribute band getting along? ua-cam.com/video/sptQj1MPIwg/v-deo.htmlsi=MOgy7b4ju5mW0gQp Next stop, the PHT😂😂😂 Atb, sport.
A good day had by all concerned.
Special congratulations to the Eiffel tower and Bastille Day of course ! Magnifique, merci.
Ha ha, yes. It is the winner 😍
If i was still fit and healthy, i'd love to live there in High Corrie.
No smoke coming out the Funnels
Well spotted. The engine is steam-driven and powered by two oil-fired boilers
She seems to be spending some time off the Ayrshire coast just lately.
Enjoyed your Whiting Bay celebration, especially the lassies playing in the Pipe Band doing a great job. Thank you Dave.
Wish I was a tourist just following you around.....brilliant insight !....thank you...☺👍
Nobody knows where Ayrshire is. ..what country is it in ? ..what continent ?
😁Ah, good point. Well, it's on the West coast of Scotland and I'm filming standing on the beach at Kildonan, Isle of Arran.
Grand old vessel x
The last time my wife and I were on The Waverley was about seven or so years ago. It was a short trip from Lochranza down to the southern tip of Arran on a lovely afternoon. Just as Waverley was about to turn about for the return leg a Spitfire of all things roared across heading in the direction of the mainland. Seeing us below it banked and circled us several times dipping its wings in salute. The grand old lady returned the acknowledgment with blasts on her horn while we passengers waved and shouted. It was truly a memorable occasion.
Wow. That must've been incredible, and it'll never be repeated probably. What an occasion
@@davetheraverovingtherock luckily the weather was wonderful
Lovely to see the Waverley again and also the coast of Ayrshire. Thanks Dave.
Too small for me, i wouldn't feel safe. I need the ferry or Ocean Liners. I went around the world on one weighing 36 thousand tons.
Yes 'ferry small' :-) and 41 years old. new ones are coming this year
Nice views of Brodick. No life on the ferry. Was this it's first trip.?
Everyone had just disappeared as it was about to berth, so they were all queueing fat the door to get off. This ferry has been helping out all year as our big ferry needed a lot of repairs
Nice sunset. Arran must have turned upside down.
Unusual, thanks for sharing x
Is this Ferry running every day?
Yes, about 7 sailings a day to Arran altogether, unless it's bad weather
Nice tomber coming from Arran not just pretty faces ....
Don't get under that grabber or you'll maybe get flattened if it suddenly discharges it's load.
This is hilarious! Love the blondes at 2:50 LOL! 😄
Hey Kitti 🙂 How're you doing? What're you up to nowadays? Yes it was very funny, Arran is a great place to be...nothing serious ever happens here!. i hope you're doing well x
Thanks for sharing Dave… Best wishes to you and yours…
Hi guy's....is there a chance to have a gpx file for Strava with this trail?

Magnifique, merci !
Ah lovely 😍
She doesn’t hang about with approaching the berth and departing
Nice Tae see the good auld Waverley again.

Great video, lovely walk up there!
The hill behind the lochan is a good walk too.
Looks like you two and Bear thoroughly enjoyed your wee donner up Tae the lochan despite the cauld.

I'm looking at the rain there while I'm stuck indoors with the air conditioner on full to shield us from the 42 degree Temps. I'll be in Arran in 2 weeks and can't wait for some light drizzle!
Gosh, 42 degrees. I've never experienced more than 30 degrees before, and anything over 20 is too much for me! yes, drizzle isn't as bad as it sounds
Hi Dave, saw you yesterday in the co-op at Brodick after you'd been on this walk. Hope the brush you brought was up to bird table cleaning!
ha ha, yes I've been using it. very nice :-) and despite my fears it only cost £1.50. My birds are well chuffed!
