I have been suffering for 36 years after having had an emergency C-section for twin delivery. I can not find anyone in the United States to believe that it is gossypiboma. Please let me know if you know anyone in the United States or anywhere who can help me. Following is a history of my health challenges since 1986. These symptoms started soon after an emergency c-section of twins due to my respiratory arrest which occurred after numbing of the diaphragm during spinal anesthesia. Since then I have had these debilitating symptoms: Unexplained massive hives over my body, lasting 1-2 weeks at a time Oozing droplets of blood from 4-5 inch sections over different parts of the body lasting 2-3 days at a time Constant nausea and abdominal distention Diarrhea up to 30 times a day for no apparent reason, then normal bowel movements for weeks at a time Severe sharp abdominal pains starting in the lower abdomen and moving up to the chest accompanied with sulfur burps, abdominal distention and followed by simultaneous vomiting and diarrhea lasting 2-6 hours Sudden joint swelling and pain lasting 2-4 days Peripheral edema lasting 2-5 days Palpitations up to 160 beats per minute lasting up to 12 hours with dizziness Low grade fevers lasting 1-2 days Sneezing several times a day None of these symptoms, except the nausea, diarrhea and abdominal distention are constant. They come and go and some have gone away for up to a year and then suddenly return for a month or more. On my good days I have normal bowel movements, no itching, can play singles tennis for 2 hours without palpitations, am active and healthy. The only medication I am presently taking is testosterone cream (4 mg) and progesterone (150 mg capsules). I eat a very healthy diet and weigh 120 lb. My weight has been as low as 85 lb when I am going through a long stretch of diarrhea and vomiting and cannot digest solid food. I now consume the Physicians Formula and Absorb Plus Elemental Diet drinks during those times. I have been seen by several doctors over the last 36 years and have only had one diagnosis of mastocystosis in 1997 and in 2021 was evaluated by an immunology specialist who said I no longer had mastocytosis and may have been misdiagnosed. I have been searching for an expert radiologist with the most advanced imaging equipment. Gossypiboma seems like the logical cause of my problems since I have researched many cases of long term gossypiboma and the majority of them had several of my symptoms. Unfortunately, the older imaging equipment rarely detected the foriegn body and the only way it was discovered was when they were going through an unrelated surgery. I am very excited about getting my life back. I am 64 years old and I have so much to live for. I have an amazing husband of 42 years, 4 awesome children and 8 incredible grandchildren. I have so many passions and want to continue to help people live a happy and healthy life.
