Will ace pilot works?
Ace pilot could replace cowboy for early game but you will need to bring farms and sacrifice dj/commander. Ace pilot rarely used in fallen since there are no flying enemies early game and hidden detection is very expensive.

Yes you can definitely swap Engi out for Ranger, important to have Electroshockers for flying. You should try duo fallen, less chance of people disconnecting like in Quad. Hope this helps!
