Good music for a saterday braai with some good friends

Its beautiful but still the dude on sax could give Jimi little bit space and breathe in between, take some rest and allow Jimi to add some beautiful lead. Jimi was overgenerous here, I am not longing for this constant sax ya know...

They do hit some really excellent grooves. Chris Wood and Jimi were excellent at destroying grooves in favor of abstract jazz but they stay remarkably grounded here.

To this day I still do not know how Ken passed away. Think of all the Heep members who have passed on. You would have an incredible band. Byron, Lawton, Kerslake, Wetton, Bolder, Thain, Hensley. What a loss to the music world. This music is so timeless. I was 15 when this came out and I never get tired of it. 70 and still rock in to this stuff.

I listened to him in 1974 in a run down place in Hannover (Glocksee), just after the release of "Fly to the rainbow". He played a seven minute solo of "3rd stone from the sun", whilst the rest of band was quiet and the rhythm guy, R. Schenker, was standing on his head all the time, maybe to draw some attention upon himself as well....
