SEiGLER | Fly Fishing Reels | New Product Update
We recently made a product update that is retrofittable to all fly fishing reel models. This update helps eliminate the shaft from dropping when someone loosens the Preset to much and knob comes off. I was thank for Chad Huff during iCast to bring this up too me.

HOW TO SET YOUR DRAG
Переглядів 8 тис.4 роки тому
Learn how to preset your drag on the SEiGLER Lever Drag Fly Reel. 1. Know Your Fish: Before adjusting the drag, think about the type of fish you're after and the pressure needed for your chosen line (e.g., 20# tippet or leader). 2. Initial Setting: The reel is preset out of the box for fishing. For more accuracy, set the drag to 30-40% of your line's strength. For example, with 20# line, aim fo...

    Ok, i'm using a Daiwa & inside that plate has ribbed sections for strength (or remains of the mold). Which side of the rare earth magnet do i glue. The magnet side or the shiny non-magnet side? Thx:)

    I have sgn that I have followed these steps to put it back together. I had to. Take it apart because I got line behind the spool. Problem when reassembled is I can’t tighten the drag preset without losing free spool. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?

    These are great reels I purchased a SG when they were Release Reels set it up with 65lb spectra and a 40lb top shot paired with a Seeker Classic 6470. These little reels are amazingly strong landed a 30-40 Yellow fin Tuna out of Catalina Island in SoCal as strong as the fish was at no point did I feel under gunned. Looking to purchase LGN as the next one to add to the collection.

    Wes, I LOVE your reels. My first one was a SG with the Release name. I didn't buy one while they were called Truth but, have since bought 3 more with the SEiGLER name. I know you've been through the ringer on the name changes but it's still the same reel and carries the same AMAZING warranty. I may be in the minority, but I actually prefer the SEiGLER branding. I mean, why not want your name on products this great. Something that came to my mind after watching this video. A SEiGLER made spinning reel would be incredible and, in my opinion a MUST-HAVE reel. I do know you won't put it out until it's perfected. I'm not so much interested in it being a fully sealed surf reel but, I expect it would be a very strong reel for casting plugs at big fish from an offshore boat. Something built strong like your lever drag reels with as few moving parts as needed. Another thing that came to mind from shopping on your website, the OS model at this time is noted as "Small". It gives me hope there will someday be an OS "Large" model. With the current size OS reel selling for what it is makes me think an even larger one would be affordable. I don't fish for anything bigger than the current OS model could easily handle but the desire to own a "Large" version is there. I'm sure many others would want such a reel. After following your company through the years, I realize that any product your company makes is top notch in every way.

    Why would you want a static magnet in an SG?

    • @seiglerreels
      @seiglerreels 4 роки тому

      The magnets will help slow the spool down for better control when casting.

    • @allencooke8925
      @allencooke8925 4 роки тому

      @@seiglerreels I have the original pair of SGs that Jamie of Pimp My Reel design with mono mags. Fully adjustable to control the reel for casting. I have difficulty understanding how having a magnet glued to the back case, which can easily detach locking up the spool can give control for casting. When there is a Seigler approved mono mag available.

    • @seiglerreels
      @seiglerreels 4 роки тому

      @@allencooke8925 Same principle as the adjustable magnets, just without the adjustment - when an electrical conductor passes through a magnetic field, its movement is resisted and the magnet acts as a brake. The aluminum spool is the conductor. Unfortunately there is not enough room on the SGN to install an adjustable mag so installing static mags is the option. We can use different size magnets/ up to 3 on the SGN based on the customers preference. Adjustable mags can be installed on the SG and larger reels.

      @@seiglerreels Check out Jamie's videos on UA-cam PMR he has been supplying mono mags for the SG range including one for the narrow. A fully adjustable mono mag is available, and I can vouch work perfectly improving the castability of these superb reels

    The name issue is unfortunate, but I'm just so glad that I found your reels. They are the very best for offshore kayak fishing - light, strong, and pretty much bulletproof. I too would love to see a spinning reel that is up to Seigler standards, but my first love is trolling. You've got that covered like nobody else! Keep up the outstanding work.

    HELP My case: Friend of my son bought two SG:s from somewhere overseas( In the beginning when they still was "Release reels"). Kept one and sold the other to my son. My son loaded his with 350 yds of 50lb braid. So far so good. No measuring or testing he set the preset knob for the brake so that he could hardly pull out the line with his bare hand(directly from the spool), thats how we usually test the brake before presenting a jig to our precious halibuts.Doing that and reaching a point of satisfying braking force there was so much binding that you hardly could move the crankshaft. What is wrong? Something definitely is but I just can´t figure it out. Opened the reel with this as a guide an although it´s an SG it looked pretty much the same only difference is, this reel does not work as supposed. Can anyone help me? For the "lifetime warranty", who´s lifetime? I´v been in contact with release reels and they had a lot of strange ideas of what could be the problem, one was something in the line of "you have to much line on the spool, you can´t expect the reel to perform as specified with 3/4 of the spool filled with line."...?!?!?!?!? Can anyone help me to get to an end with this, is it a trashbinbuy or is it anything to do about it?
