Frame Bender - '98 4Runner 4x4 with E-Locker
Nice!
Impressive.
this a monster man, diesel? sounds delicious
I need an elocker asap
Damn! Should of kept my 3rd gen and put a auto-locker in it, love my 4th gen v8 but miss that shitbox
Dodd Rd?
Some say the 7 thumbs down are all former jeep owners and now current 4runner owners.
Yap keep suck always Stock Toyota putting them to Shane I’m always the one with a stock Toyota pulling out jeeps with 6inch lifted on 38 inch tires I even had a jeep that was locked and couldn’t go up a hill in mine did without a locker
You should do more 4Runner videos
Don't signal with your fingers, signal with your whole arm.
Where is this ?
My 96 limited has e-locker , it works
im thinking of buying a 96 with the locker, have you had any issues with the truck?
Wait what?!?! That runner was stock? That's awesome my 97 4runner is stock as well I just need a locker lol
“And a stock Toyota does what a Jeep had trouble with.” Love it. 😂😂😂😂
"On 37s" 😬 Yota all day
Good job!!
Ive got a 99 with factory e locker aswell, all stock. Goes everyware i point it.
You've got my dream 4Runner. No chrome 5spd, sport flares with the matching front mudflaps.
Thanks so much. I honestly didn't realize how much of a unicorn it really was until after I got it. I was looking for 5-speed and e-locker..the no chrome was an added bonus! I had to commit a mortal sin and cut a notch into the front mud flaps, though, because I've installed sliders and there was no way they were going back on without doing that. I know those are hard to find, too.
If I owned a truck like yours i dont think I'd wheel with them on just to save them from damages.
A stock toyota 4x4 with rear elocker is all a man really needs!
No just 3.4l is enough
@@moneyseeker8886 2.7l gang for life
Awesome video
Thank you!
Do you think I could make it up with a stock 2003 Land Cruiser 100 with ATRAC and 33" ATs?
Definitely - this is called Bend n' Hickory, in North GA, by the way.
How many miles are on it and do you have any problems with it? Im looking to get a 3rd gen as soon as i have the $$$
Sorry for the late response - I have 171k right now but it's not my daily driver. Absolutely no problems. A guy I know in North GA has over 400k on his, and has only changed the clutch / timing belt a few times. These motors are rock solid. The main things to look out for on these models is something called the "Pink milkshake" on the automatics. The barrier that separates the transmission fluid and the coolant (inside the radiator) will wear away over time, and the two will mix. Coolant gets into the transmission and destroys the clutch packs (they soak it in). To avoid this, you can install an external transmission cooler, which is only like $40. The problem is that most people don't worry about it until it's too late, and then they end up needing a transmission rebuild or replacement. The other thing is the lower ball joints. The way they are designed allows the wheel to basically fold under the car and destroys the CV axle, brake components, brake lines, etc. You just have to make sure to replace them every 100k or so, and make sure to use OEM parts only (no MOOG, no AutoZone, lol). You can read about these on a forum called T4R.org - at the top of the 3rd gen section there will be certain "stickied" posts that will run you through the differences between the submodels, the common problems, DIY articles, etc. Hopefully this helps! You will definitely enjoy this vehicle (and if you can find one with a rear e-locker, grab it fast!)
Ryan Cunico thank you so much
Troy Gundle you're welcome - sorry for the late response. I never check my UA-cam notifications!
Ryan Cunico wats the difference between the one with rear lock and center locker?
@@Tcho2100 Rear locker lock up the rear axle so both rear wheels turn at all times. Center locker is found it vehicles with AWD and allows the front and rear axles to turn at different speeds until it's locked. Then it does the same for front to rear as the rear one does for left and right rear tires.
nice!
Hell of a driver hell of a spotter great team sick rig!
Loved the crushing words to all poor jeep owners at the end!!! 4runners are the bomb!
Trash talking Jeeps at the end...bwahaha!
I used to own a Jeep (CJ), and it stands for Just Empty Every Pocket. Always taking your money!
did it actually bend the fram? or is that just what the trail is called?
Nope, just the name of that particular section! That would suck, haha.
4Runners too strong. Nice vid.
That's incredible, I just bought a 01 4runner 4x4 few months ago and haven't done anything to that degree but we've pushed a few limits..
I wasn't planning on doing anything like this when I went, either. The guys kept telling me "Yeah no worries man, you can go around any sketchy parts!" Then we got there..and I was like whelp, that wasn't exactly truthful. Glad I tested the limits and had a knowledgeable spotter that had done it before. It helped a lot! Working that clutch was kind of tricky, though.
Why is that jackass guiding him where to go ? Very unnecessary .
The spotter probably wheeled this trail before. You need a spotter for trails like this where you can roll your truck. Very necessary.
Louis Costa that definitely was helpful. This was my first time attempting any obstacle like this, and it was shortly after I got this 4Runner. It was completely stock at the time, and I was told before we went down the trail "don't worry, you can go around any of the difficult spots!" =P. Guess it was a good introduction though!
Hey, what's the tires size on this 4Runner. I have a 99 with 265/75 R16 and looking to upgrade.
They're actually 265 / 75 / 16's also! I didn't have a lift at the time, but now I have the Tundra coils up front (with Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks) and the OME 890's in rear (I believe they're the 890's..it's been awhile). It's a good lift that provides about 2" I think. I forgot to take before / after measurements...
Ryan Cunico if it's 2" then probably not 890s. if it's 3" then 890s
did you have the sway bars disconnected for extra articulation? Great work, love MY 00 LTD w/ e-locker, 265/75R16 here as well! :D
DK327 I didn't have them disconnected. And I stand corrected, the rears are either 890's or 891's - I can't remember. I don't know exactly how much lift I've got in the front, since I went with the Tundra coils and didn't take before / after measurements.
3rd gen 4Runners rock!
gotta love the 3rd gens!! mine has the e locker
nice!, goes to show you don't need 35's and extreme long travel to do gnarly shit. I just got my ARB rear locker installed. Do you have both front and rear or just rear?
I just have the factory rear e-locker
