You could have good compression while still having a scored piston making it hard to start or not start at all. Ran into one just last week. 100 psi but unit had a new carburetor, new ignition coil, new fuel lines filter and fresh fuel. Obviously getting air, pulse line still connected but the piston was scored. Swapped out the piston and cylinder and it fired right up.

This is just a jumpstart and also if you didnt know this DO NOT DO IT. Batteries pop and throw shrapnel as well as lead acid. If your battery is bad get a new one or help from someone that knows what they are doing. You should have mentioned to check for swelling and leaking first. If the battery is damaged physically you may damage good battery or worse you must physically inspect, check voltage with multimeter before during and after on BOTH batteries. Monitor as it charges for swelling and hot spots as in 1 spot on one of the batteries is hotter than the rest of the case and listen for sizzling/crackling. If either battery gets hot to the touch disconect immediately and stay away for a while as it cools down because those are signs it is about to pop

Ah yes always discharge an electrolytic, DC capacitor, through a resistor to be on the safe side. With Bypass AC capacitors you really dont have to discharge it because it holds a very small charge. I learned this not in my Electrical Engineering classes but actually while working in the field. They don't teach this shitz in college, you simply learn by doing. Also check the ESR of the capacitor if your meter has that function. ESR is important.

without ESR value, D value and test how it perform on different frequencies , this test is not enough to confirm if it is good or not.

Before computers, spark plugs that looked like that meant that the carb was running too rich (letting in too much fuel). There should be a screw adjustment on the carb that adjusts that.

No no no, the inrush current to the dead battery could cause it to swell/leak/explode, the good battery could suffer the same…….like the other comment said, do this only momentarily to raise dead battery voltage enough for that “smart” charger to recognize………your educating incorrectly and recklessly and could harm or maim someone

Disconnect the known good battery after the dead battery has enough voltage to keep the "smart" charger activated, otherwise use an old school battery charger.
