Throat of The World ENB series: Skyrim
They need to either modernize this engine or just make GW3. The performance in this game was unacceptable when it launched and its only gotten more unacceptable over time.
This performance in groups is just sad. 35fps on the best hardware money can buy on a 12 year old game is insane.
Early Access Alpha Test from 2012, Setup from 2024 still with this FPS... CIG really doesn't know how to develop a game.
this tool of DXVK is allowed of Arenanet? because I'd like to use it! I don't like DirectX 11 I remember when I use the d912xpy was a tool that allow you pass from DirectX 9 to DirectX 12 and was huge the change, big gain of performance! with my Ryzen 7 5700X3D + RX 7800 XT I have micro stuttering I hate it!
For best texture filtering it's best to leave it off in game and force AF in the Nvidia control panel, you will have 16x AF, because from what I been reading best texture filtering does not equal 16x AF
Frametime is a bit spikey for my taste :/
Can you add the Framegraph the next time? r_displayFrameGraph 1
Sure, I plan on doing a run for each Save Stanton part whenever they are enabled on live.
Tune your memory to get increased frames. I’ve got a 14900k and RTX 4090, my benchmark run, I was getting similar frames to those you’re showing in 4k, tuned the memory and you’ll see a nice increase.
I would but tuning 64gb of ram has been kinda messy lol, not sure how well this X3D chip will scale with memory either.
@@Extreme_Narwhal Since the infinity fabric is desynced anyway with 6000 ram xou could try pushing both ram and fclk as far as they can go. There is a scheduler benefit to running mem clock and fclk in a 3 to 2 ratio but thats marginal. Pushing the fclk to 2100+ and the ram to maybe 6200 or 6400 while tightening the timings a bit should give around the 5 to 10% mark in extra performance depending on the actual settings.
Thanks for the suggestion i'll have to try this out when i get some time to mess with the clocks.
What ship and loadout did you use?
Aegis Vanguard Warden, default loadout
You get gpu bottlenecked at all in the usual spots? Curious as im running the exact same build roughly but with a 4080. Was curious to hear if you do or not.
I think so, there certainly are spots where I hit 100% on the 4090 before the 9800x3d gets a chance to do work.
The game is the bottleneck. r_displayframegraph 1
@@Devouration unfortunately the framegraph command is still in ptu for 3.24.3, will definitely be using it though going forward whenever the update hits the live servers.
I have the RTX 4090, but rest of my system 7 years old, DDR3 3200 64gb, and 9900K CPU... I want to upgrade my platform to this new insane for gaming 9800X3D CPU, but i'm plain' in 4K resolution because i have 4K monitor... Is it will be good with 9800X3D and 4090 to play Star Citizen in 4K?, or should i lover the resolution to 2K for less stress for the 9800X3D and the 4090 and for better performance?
For Star Citizen youll be maxing out the 4090 at 4k regardless of any cpu upgrade. at 1440p ultrawide there are some instances where my 4090 is at 100% utilization even before I upgraded to a 98000X3D. Not sure if a cpu upgrade would be helpful to you at all.
@Extreme_Narwhal Of course there will be huge upgrade from the cpu, as fact that Star Citizen in current state more demanding on the cpu's and not the gpu's... Before i bought that 4090, i was with an old rtx980ti, with the same platform and the same 9900k cpu, and when i upgraded that old 980ti to 4090, nearly nothing changed to me in Star Citizen's performance... So the CPU is what is most important for the Star Citizen's performance, the gpu is less...
@Extreme_Narwhal But i'm thinking if i should upgrade to the 9800x3d, or should i wait for the more powerful x3d cpu's?
The 8 core 9800x3d is probably fine for games, I wouldn't get the 9900x3d or 9950x3d unless I was doing production stuff but they are also most likely clocked slightly higher like +100mhz on the clock like the 7950x3d is compared to the 7800x3d
@@Extreme_Narwhal i understand, i want the new x3d cpu upgrade as for gaming and also for video rendering and maybe streaming here and there... So will the 9800x3d answer my needs?
Are you playing in 4K?
3440x1440, graphics settings are in the first 7 seconds of the video. Rendered the video at 4k for better bit rate and ratio comparability for youtube.
The best PC ever basically
not for much longer ^^.

What's your FPS like in cities?
Averaging 50+ in cities Orison, area18, and new babbage generally feel smooth.
been looking for this. that’s real benchmarking
Usually performance is significantly better in space than in cities.
They dont have the performance graph yp. You should find some videos about how the game's performance actually works because this is not it.
It's sad to see how badly it runs. My 7800X3D have stutters very often whenever there's players around, and places in SotO runs like ass. Can literally pan the camera and go from 120 to 40 fps.
I wonder if it's an AMD thing. When I upgraded recently to a 14700KF intel my GW2 went from running really nice most of the time with mostly max settings(minus shadows and sky stuff idc about)to running 250 fps almost all the time with few dips enough to feel like a studder. Finally zero issues....Crazy you have to spend this type of money to get it to run smooth...Though i did buy mostly open box and used on a lot of the parts minus the CPUs...And I got a killer deal on buying the 3090s together which made them so cheap I felt like I committed a crime. Though I have to say for some reason Shadowplay doesn't like my intel PC and makes it studder after 30 secs of turning it on instant replay. So that's annoying..
@@jdgoesham5381 You are obviously lying. The poor performance is due to engine limitations, the game will never run smoothly in all scenarios. You can literally look up your cpu + gw2 to see what performance looks like, and as expected its not great. I dont get what you are trying to achieve here.
and my 4090 runs at 86% to 90% in this game
i got on this Map 2 - 2.5 time's the FPS as you have
one reason could be the big paging file i made on my 8 TB gen 4 M.2 SSD why i have such a good performence and high FPS in this game. This game wanna at my system 19 to 21 GB RAM and Paging File and i have only 16 gb RAM DDR 4 this is the reason why i have an big paging file on a Gen 4 SSD give you an very high performance increase in the most games.
this show'S why i never go to AMD
question without frame generation and an 13700kf + 4090 i got minimum 65 fps on max settings everything by 3440 x 1440p :) :) average is 80 to 100 fps
Why for the love of god is there no frame generation in this?
Hah Nice to see that even with your CPU the game runs like ass during high player count events. :D I have a 5700>G + RX6800XT and I'm getting nearly the same framerates. On Linux.
I personally run this game on R97950X3D and 4090. Runs pretty good with very minimal stutter every now and then. You would get a lot of fps if you turned Reflections off and Character model Limit to low. It will pretty much keep at 60fps even in the most demanding metas.
I run an undervolted and well cooled 14700kf and a rtx 3090 & 32 gb DDR5 these days and I usually have 225-250 fps even in WvW zerg fights. Mostly max settings but not Super sampling. On a msi mpg 321URX 4k monitor. I don't pve so IDK what it would get in world bosses or meta events but I'd wager not much less. WvW screen vomit gets crazy with all the siege also going off as well. I did like how it ran with my 78003d but it would still sometimes studder but now it's insanely smooth. Funny though I don't play like I used to. Alliances in WvW kind of made it bleh for me.
Good video. Appreciate the results. I always enjoy videos like this.
nice i got a simmilair set up but with a 7900xtx u confirmed what i was thinking my diff in framerater between 1080p and 4k wasnt massive but its because of the cpu bottleneck
I like the Spirit. I'll run my C2 if doing a cargo trade. I'll take a Cutter or Ares if I just need to meet up with someone.
Isn't the RTX 4090 extremely bottlenecked? I'd assume that switching renderer mostly affects the GPU, and the 4090 is not being challenged at all, it's the CPU which can't keep up no matter the renderer.
dxvk operates as a translation layer to vulcan which can improve cpu usage in some games by offloading some resources to the gpu, a good example is the dxvk implementation for GTA 4. You are correct though regardless of either renderer with my hardware the 4090 is pretty much chilling in the background with nothing to do.
@@Extreme_Narwhal I have the exact same hardware, I recommend reducing the two character model limit settings to Medium as it greatly improves FPS when it counts. Really helps on the Soo-Won meta for an example.
@@Extreme_Narwhal Btw, the 7800X3D's memory controller runs at 6400 MHz on the current BIOS versions, so having 6400 MHz RAM and infinity fabric to match the controller is ideal. I have the exact same RAM as you and I've been able to overclock it no problem, it's rock solid. Set RAM speed multiplier from 60 to 64. (For 6400 MHz) Set the following RAM timings: 30-38-38-80 Overclock infinity fabric from 2000 MHz to 2133 MHz (1/3 of RAM speed) This will give you nice performance gains, particularly on the 1% and 0.1% lows. You can also use Curve Optimizer in BIOS and set -20 mV on all cores. This will allow the 7800X3D to clock higher before hitting the voltage limit. You're not overclocking, you're undervolting which allows it to clock higher on all-core workloads. It's completely safe.
bottlenecked in what way? The cpu seemed to be at the same level of utilization as the gpu with both at around 40% on all tests. The 7800x3D is literally the best gaming cpu currently on the market. I think the game engine itself is incapable of running well with model limit on high or above.
@@Svobone GW2 doesn't have great multi-threaded CPU utilization. The CPU may be running at 100% on one or two cores while the rest are nearly idle, which bottlenecks the GPU.
Do you have an older system to test on? There's a possibility that the difference could be much bigger on more modest hardware.
Unfortunately I do not.
I see. I guess I'm buying two RTX 5090's then.
set frame rate limit to 120 instead of unlimited, better performance as unlimited apparently has issues
Wacky, i'll have to try that out. I had heard they fixed the issues with unlimited.
@@Extreme_Narwhal ah didn't realise there was a fix. if you test please message back here with results
Not using any frame gen for this title ?
No, there is no frame gen in this release version of the game, sounds like the devs are working on getting DLSS added to the game though so framegen is a possibility down the road.
Tem o AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2 no driver 24.9.1 para as Radeons. Aqui na minha 7800 XT em 1440P high-ultra, eu pego ~100 FPS com esse recurso ativado.
FFFffcking lmao?? 40FPS at 1440P lmaolmaolmao, literally alpha game, not even early access
On my 4090 I can get around 150 FPS at 1440p but it does require High presets.

Would be nice to see this in WvW blob fight, 3 blobs in SM or something simular :) Ty for the test, looking at the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D CPU for upgrade.

The Caterpillar as loaner for the ironclad is a fucking joke. But i like the Ironclad. And its just 50usd from a c2. I did the upgrade yesterday.
I think the m2 should be the loaner for it tbh, the caterpillar just ain’t it
I think they want you to get used to flying a brick.
I was going to change my Ryzen 7 8700G for a Ryzen 7 5700X3D, yep... go back to AM4 do you think that is better? I mean for Guild Wars 2? and other games for V-3D Cache?
Downgrading to an older platform probably isn't worth it since AM4 is end of life now. Probably better to just wait for the new ryzen chips to come out and get a discount on the 7 series. GW2 probably wouldn't change too much for an X3D especially in large group content.
@@Extreme_Narwhal sorry for my english but I had to use the google translator for try to explain this haha I had a problem with my motherboard, an Asrock A620I Lightning Wifi, because my APU sometimes got stuck, everything froze and the screen went black and then it reacted and I got this message with the AMD drivers that said "AMD Software has detected that a driver on your system has timed out. A problem report has been created that can be sent to AMD to help improve the software" now my setup is Ryzen 7 8700G + RTX 3060 12GB but now when using it as a CPU with the iGPU disabled The maximum temperature that it gives me while doing nothing or playing a light video game is around 76 to 80 degrees Celsius and I had to lower its temperature using Ryzen Master Utility. A friend told me that he had a similar problem with his Ryzen 7 5800X3D and that the cores of his processor were "asleep" since it was not using all the cores and was reloading on about two cores. Now he has a B550 motherboard and he told me that he had to get all the cores activated on the Ryzen Master. so that the workload was better distributed in all applications and by doing so the temperature also dropped from 80 degrees Celsius to approximately 55 degrees. So, he told me that the best thing I can do is change the motherboard for a B650I, and well, I was looking and I like the one from MSI. MSI MPG B650I EDGE WIFI. So I'll see how it goes. I still thought that downgrading and returning to AM4 would not be the solution.
Weird I have similar performances with a 1660 super and ryzen 5600 lol

@dkvech a funky small starter ship got slapped by a light fighter? Who would have thought.
I don’t think gun sizes or it’s size are the problem, it’s a really good ship for combat but the problem it’s is parts healths. Any little damage will blow off a wing or two and take one of those guns with it.
Ships hitbox is massive for its small shield and low health… and one of the missle racks has been bugged for a while
Breaks way too easy tho 😢
