I love this story. Long ago, you advised me to "read as much of the Bible as you can stand," to better understand literature, and I did. The idea of evil as the absence of good, per Einstein, resonates. There's a New Testament line that supports this idea, too. Romans 8:28 is usually paraphrased as "All things work out for good for those who love God," but in Greek God is the subject of the sentence, not the object, so a better reading is "God cooperates with those who love him." So, if you try to do good, you get a little help. If you try to do evil, you're free to do so, but God won't help you. I've always liked this thought.
