Nate's Road Life
Приєднався 29 лип 2020
Welcome to Nate's Road Life! This channel is in correlation with our other channel, Homesteader Nate. I work in the oil and gas industry which has me traveling from state to state for most of the year. While we are on the road, we live in a camper and occasionally in hotels or Airbnb's. This channel will be dedicated to showing the chaotic and unpredictable nature of this lifestyle as well as how we manage to survive harsh winters and grueling summers in an RV. We like to do a lot of grilling while on the road and we will video and post numerous videos pertaining to cooking as well as just normal daily life.
My Broke Down Cummins Part 2 | Is It a Bad Head Gasket??
My Cummins is still acting up and I am having trouble getting it fixed. I ended up testing the thermostat in a pot of water on the stove to ensure that it is working properly and also performing a head gasket leak test with inconclusive results. Let's see if we can't figure out the problem with this thing.

We arrived in McPherson, Kansas on Thursday evening and began preparing to ride out the worst winter storm of the season so far. The were predicting blizzard conditions, up to 10" of snow and 1/3" of ice. Friday morning, we received a phone call telling us that we needed to be in Iowa on Monday, so we packed up and took off right on the heels of the looming winter storm. #winterstorm #blizzard ...

Good information! Fun video😅 or yeah take care of that finger! Awesome!
Thanks for the view! The finger has since healed!
so i used g05 coolant in my 2013 for a couple years and found out that was the wrong coolant. The only coolant for it was the mopar purple coolant and at the time they didnt make an alternative. After that no issues.
Interesting! Thank you for your comment! Part two is coming out in a few days. Give it a look, and I will look into the mopar coolant!
That’s a lot of driving lol
Glad it's over!
LOVE IT! You have to be the hardest worker man I have ever seen 😂😂 kudos to your family! Can’t wait until the next video!
Thanks so much!!
Country Boys can survive! 👍
Great video man! Hey do you know where can i get the pump to get the oil out, thanks a lot in advance
You can get them at Autozone, Orielly Auto Parts, Wal-Mart, and I am sure many other places as well!
@@Natesroadlife thank you very much I really appreciate your help
Change gasket, then use pump for putting in new fluid. Wire brush the rear diff , axle, give a fresh coat of paint, wire brush the old gasket off, so new one can sit properly. Throw a magnet on the outside of rear diff, those cattle stomach magnets from the feedstore work well, possibly a local farm may have some older ones.
You can get nice magnets from old microwave ovens, take the magnetron apart - lubelocker makes fantastic repl gaskets
Yeah I'm changing mine tomorrow and I do not want to take the cover off it seems like you never get them to seal as good as they were from the factory so I'm definitely going to just Pump the fluid out and put fresh in people say all that's not as good as dropping the cover but it's better than leaving the old fluid in even if you can't get every drop out any fresh fluid you can get in it is a good thing great video
Thank you!
I’ve got a 1993 f250, & from previously doing this job on a past truck u gotta use the RTV if you drop the cover. IMO DO NOT touch the cover unless it’s already leaking, & just suck the shit out.
@@michaelbenoit248 yep that's exactly what I did mine's never leaked a drop and I didn't want to have to reseal it it holds 2.5 quarts I was able to suck 2 quarts out and refill with synthetic truck so tired shouldn't never need it again lol thanks for the info
I got mines to seal perfect taking the cover off
@@vbnation1874 sorry buddy I don't even remember what I commented on or what you're talkin about must have been a video I watched a while ago
Will it have any negative effects if you don’t pull the cover?
I wouldn't see it being an issue as long as you got all of the fluid out and replaced it with the proper fluid and proper quantity of fluid.
@@Natesroadlife okay cool. Thanks for the video and response.
Thanks for watching!
