All answer the first guy’s question ‘how did you not know your friends/family’s political persuasion?’ I’m a bw in the uk and one of my close friends (also a bw) voted for Brexit. I’ve know her for over 20 yrs, we’ve talked about racism she (and I) have encountered in numerous jobs, we’ve talked about our parents who came over in the 60s as immigrants and how hard they’ve worked in the uk. She had NEVER voted conservative. So how was I suppose to know (by her actions and past political views) that my friend who is also a daughter of immigrants would vote to Keep Immigrants Out! I was in total shock! If I was an American I wouldn’t expect my friends who’s on ACA to vote against ACA. I wouldn’t expect my Latino friend/workmate who hasn’t sorted their ‘papers’ to vote Maga. I wouldn’t expect my friend who let’s say had an ectopic pregnancy (women die from this) to vote to take away doctors ability to intervene in the pregnancy to ensure both mother & baby are safe. So to the first guy - I hope this answers your question.

Tricia Cotham outta Charlotte ran as a Democrat and switched parties back in early 2023, making it tougher since then to do anything good to help people in NC. She is another faith-based politician and I believe her faith messed her thinking up; she was big on women's reproductive rights and LGBTQ+ rights, but I'm not sure if she is sticking to that. I'm sure all the Dems who voted for her felt angry and betrayed at the time. They chose to elect a Democrat and then she turned on every one of them.
