Great Q - I would start with what you think your ideal target audience would want first. Journal is def less pressure!

I'm honestly not that worried about it. We went through the same thing in 2018. Overseas is still a great option. But I do have some other printers that are amazing.

Hey! Sorry to feel like a bait and switch. The main point I am making is POD is not a good option :( I wish I had better news. I looked for POD for a LONG time. My main path I recommend is not using print on demand and doing traditional printers instead. I mainly use printers overseas. I help my students in Print School go through this process step by step. I feel you. We all want the dream but the ones who get it wind up being the ones willing to work through the pain of what we have been through. I took a course in Silocon Valley about entrepreneurship many years ago. Prof. was a millionaire entrepreneur. He had us profile a different successful entrepreneur each week. You know the Nike founder Bowerman had umpteen prototypes of polyurethane poured onto his wife's waffle iron before the shoe sole became the brand for Track & Feild stars? Or that Dyson tried 5,127 failed prototypes of vacuums over a number of decades before being able to sell The Dyson at $400/vac basic package at Target while the other leading brands weren't even breaking $300?!?! For real. The SkinnyGirl brand Martinis or margaritas or whatever was by Bethanny Frankel who'd had 2-3 businesses flop already. She had been through the wringer, too. Estranged from her father (rumored gangster?)... So challenge - therein lies the challenge. The winners are the ones who figure out how to keep going, keep striving after their goals in the face of immense challenge. Look the author of Harry Potter was rejected by 12 publishers before that story found it's niche to the tune of umpteen millions... She shouldn't have had to approach a 2nd publisher or a 3rd or a 4th. Right? I mean, how humiliating. Right? For them - once they saw it take off! Everyone wants the reward without the responsibility. But whining and complaining won't make it go away. They go hand in hand. The more you're willing to take on the challenges, the faster you cut them down and get through what won't work for you and learn to create the thing that will. Dad's an inventor. He destroyed 3 of my fisher price record players I adored when I was young to make the thing that allows us to hear the baby's heartbeat from the womb, now. I was so mad. He worked on that over a decade. And you know what? Amother company beat him to market it and got all the glory. All for nothing. Did he give up? No. Now he holds over 30 US patents. And he helped me pay for good music school so he made it up to me. We're cool. But if you think everything should be easy and always go you're way, you'll forever be disappointed and even when you win it won't feel that awesome because you always do, no challenge. If you let your battle losses take you out of the war, you've already sunk your own battleship. Get your head back in the game. Tough times and challenges and hard things are part of it. That's life. My dad used to say "life isn't fair." How you get around and over those challenges and who with makes the experience the aces. If you give up the dream and let go anytime you face difficulty you'll stay forever stuck. You can chose to listen to questions like "what could this failure teach me about tomorrow's success?" Like all those now millionaire failures did. How could this challenge inform decisions going forward. My 1st biz failure because I didn't network enough with other freelancers. Bam - problem solved for next round. Then I didn't adhere to my calendar effectively - some new strategies in place, like timers. clocks, ADHD hacks and actual calendars or a virtual assistant later and - Bam- back in biz. You're right. You shouldn't have to work. So, what? Do you expect government handouts the rest of your life? Will they give as much as growing a dream like this could? Will that be as rewarding? Alright then. That's a perfectly valid choice and I wish you well and will share my steak with you if the govt. ever goes belly up and begins starving dependents - Heaven forbid - like some have. I met a lady on a medical mission once. She was a villager. Had lost her family in a hurricaine or earthquake or something - their home, their farm, the livelihood -her children & husband- everything. Then a mudslide took her sister and mom. Year later she comes to the medical mission to see if she can still have children because she has met a new man, they intend to marry and she wants to be able to start a new family. Lady comes from a village that relies on medical missions in a country that don't offer good health care, let's say that much (hospital loses power every other day, randomly). The medical care in country might be "free" but painted signs on the wall list menu pricing for recovery beds, and food while staying there - $600 - $1200/ day. Uhm. And they charge you for medical usensils used in surgery. So... the labor of docs is free there. But nothing else. They fee patients out of the freedom of the service. Whatever - this lady shouldn't have had to work for her food after all she'd been through but that's how she met her new love. And her happiness. So... You know. When I feel like that I set a timer on my wallowing. 10-15 minutes to 3 days. If it goes past 3 days for me I have to call a friend to pull me out or it gets bad. So keep your chinnup. And get moving. Goals don't achieve themselves! ❤🎉

That was wrong and totally rude of me. I had no right to treat anybody like that. And I’m sorry. You didn’t deserve my bad attitude. I feel ashamed at how I treated your comment. What I wish I would have said instead is more like: Give yourself grace. Keep garnering support, learning and growing. When you have the energy or support you need, you can keep trying at it if you still want to tackle the biz challenge. I hope you do because you are worth every ounce of efforts any of us can make. You deserved and were asking for support, not condemnation or judgement. I was totally out of line. I hope you accept the response I wish I’d given today and understand why I deleted my previous comments. But I’d understand either way. In life we will go through stuff, some of us it seems more than others. Some see themselves as victims and anticipate or expect others to do certain things to them. But how we chose to look at ourselves and the part of us we can control, which is ourselves, will determine how long we stay in that place where people do things to us. Once we change our mind, and come out of agreement with people will always do X Y and Z to us, we take back our power.
