    My 10ft retractable dog lease only cost $6 bucks and works great not in the way, simple, cheap and eliminates swimming to my board, never had a problem using it.

    Come on people. This is brilliant and creative. BTW, I bought Lift before ever viewing this. My first exposure to efoiling was a lesson in Turks and Caicos and their fleet was Lift. Why? Because of its superior reliability and performance.

    Ordered a lift over a month ago in their big sale. Still haven’t gotten a battery. Board came with a crack in the nose cone that holds the motor to the mast. The pad that you stand on was glued down all the way to the board. So far customer service has been solid. Already got the new nose cone… but I had to fix the pad myself and I’m still waiting on that battery….. If you’re going to have a huge sale, perhaps make sure all of your parts are in stock first.

      The pad was glued down to the board? I don't know what that means… They ship the batteries from some company in California that first ships everything to Florida. Lift definitely does strange things for sure but they are usually pretty honest about their constant battery shortage on their order page.

    Have you tried the 146 havoc compared to the 160 Camber pro. I emailed Nick from Lift and asked him what he would recommend for my next Foil and he recommended the havoc. I’m just curious if you got a chance to try their new line. Love your videos and your insight. I’m down here in Tampa area. Do you ever get down here? look us up.

    Awesome riding. Really pushing it!! What gear? Noticed a few wing breaches. Whats your verdant verdict on the 160:s ability to breach without Crash. My experience is that it makes a little blurby noice but almost always recover.

      Thanks! The 160 Camber Pro is extremely forgiving at a very wide range of speeds. I think I was on the 100 Surf V2 / 32 Glide that day. Laura set the drone pretty fast (26 MPH) so I needed the speed to keep up with it.

    Did you fix the “Plug” error or overheating problems? I’m experiencing the same, when riding 28mph+ speeds, on the plugs but also eBox (temps can be seen on the Elite HC)

      I was able to manage it by swapping out the coolant return line with a much wider direct flow valve that I just 3D printed myself but it would still overheat after a race where I was pushing the board and then was just slowly cruising about afterward while waiting for my next race to start. So it seems like it would stay cool if I kept my speed high but would overheat after really pushing it and then failed to get enough water in there to keep it cool. I think it was an issue with the water intake tube inside the mast and Lift agreed and replaced my mast. Now it never overheats no matter what I do with my board.

    check the bracket holding the battery in the hinge end for play. If its to much play, the battery will press the hatch up during radical movment and thus getting water in compartment!

      I've never had that issue BUT I do notice it sliding side to side when cranking and banking. I fixed that with two epoxy domed adhesive bumpers on the sides of the battery compartment. Now it sits tight no matter what I do when riding.

      @VerdantRide I started notice this after demonstrating the power of the board by doing just board full throtle flipping the board around. After that i noticed a litle water in the compartment after every trip. I adjusted the bracket and then i had no problem. I think this might only be a problem if you had a crash that makes that bracket move.

    If i bring friends, i use 200/48 surf. If i go alone i use 150 surf/32 glide. I love to change between going fast and going near stall speed playing.

    I do agree that straight line cruising gets boring pretty quickly. Same effect as a jet ski. Big fun at first, but then it gets boring unless you're jumping wakes or other such hooligan type activities. I've loved the big gentle arcs from the beginning. The video shot at the water front of some gorgeous city with sweeping turns in canals and such was breathtaking to me. And I still love big arcs against the setting sun backdrop. I dont' care about racing, but you HAVE gotten me cornering harder and looking at my stance and such and I think you are on the right tack that getting those cornering jollies (term from recumbent trike riding) is a key to keeping people excited about riding an efoil. Well done

      Thanks. Racing is pretty fun though. It kinda gives us a reason to get together and test various configs and techniques out with each other. I for instance actually took Justin Chait's advice about midline stance. I actually can't improve my race time with it but I will admit that for just freestyle carving I'm able to pull off smoother freestyle carves with less effort. Keep in mind it does this with the expense of added danger of potentially hitting the wing should something go wrong. Ultimately the Staggered Stance is still safer and actually does give more me more responsive control of the board across all axis but the Midline Stance is easier to use when just wanting to pull off smooth carves. It has a really organic feel to it, more like surfing and less like wakeboarding. I'm glad I've mastered Staggered Stance because I think it is much easier for me to add some Midline carving to my freestyle time, than it would be to master a Staggered Stance for times when I want more control. Having just watched one of Justin's latest race runs, which was super enjoyable to watch, I am pretty certain I could grease him in a timed slalom course given that he needs to literally walk up and down the front and back of his Flite Ultra L2 to keep it level when accelerating and decelerating. In the races I compete in, there simply isn't time for this since I go from my slowest speed to my max speed in less time than it would take for me to change my foot positioning. I'm guessing that has a lot more to do with Lift's ability to adjust speed with a finer degree of throttle control + general engineering of a higher motor mount (less pendulum effect) and perhaps even the way the Surf 100 V2 wing handles speed and lift. I really, REALLY! want to go head to head against a decent Fliteboarder just to finally know which board kicks more ass than the other.

    Enjoying your videos! This one was particularly interesting for me because I have a Lift 3F that was literally filling with water on every ride since a purchased it. It took >1 year and 3 return shipments of the board to their manufacturing site in Puerto Rico before they finally identified a crack and replaced the board (despite asking Lift to test the board before each attempted repair, they did not only for me to quickly find the first two attempts to fix failed). Long story, but what is relevant to this video is that I never experienced FPS despite all that water. I was very consistent in keeping the electronic connections coated with that green liquid they provide (which is also likely some hydrophobic substance, perhaps silicone based as well). Consequently, I am wondering if water intrusion really is the cause, or if applying the “green stuff” to the connections would suffice. Seems like Lift should be aware and help troubleshoot, even provide a general update if this is a common issue.

      Dude, you had a CRAPPY introduction to eFoiling and to Lift and I'm sorry you had to go through it. As for water and LFS. Well, I gotta say it is a bit of a mystery. All I can say is that with 5 boards I've dealt with, keeping them dry eliminated LFS completely. Even if that was just a strange coink-e-dink, I'm going with keeping the internals dry is just a good idea nonetheless. Keep riding and I hope the rest of your efoil experiences are nothing but smooth sailing. You deserve it.

      I think that a solution to your ankle soreness relies largely on the reason for your ankle getting sore. Is it tendonitis, stiffness dues to a past injury, arthritis, or poor ergonomics in your riding style? Is it just over exertion? Perhaps try riding switch stance to give your ankle a rest.

    Hi Verdant Ride - Im a Flightboard owner and love your very professional videos & technical insight. I live near Idaho & Canadian border where it's cold, similar to your location. I have an unheated garage where I fear it's too cold for battery storage & don't want to store the battery in the house where its warmer. What do you recommend I do to protect both? rgds & thanks, Mike

      Every year, I bring my boards into my house to keep them from freezing because I fear any water anywhere hidden from me in the board may destroy seals and fragile internal components. I do store my batteries inside. My solution is to store them a concrete room in the deepest part of my house and I have them on automated chargers that give each of them 5 minutes of juice about 1-2 times per month based on each battery's rate of drain to keep them at 50% charge all winter long. I do think that the actual chance of fire occurring to a battery that has not been dropped or damaged is VERY, VERY LOW! But is you are worried about it and don't have a fireproof room, here are your 3 options I see as pretty easy to build. Warning, I'm not a trained in anything that should make you trust me at all. Everything I'm about to say is 100% intuitive garage-logic and completely untested. Proceed at your own risk. Cheap: 1. Build a small fireproof container out of firebricks rated at many thousand degrees of thermal capacity. You will find these for sale at most hardware stores in their woodburning stove department. All you gotta do is glue these bricks together using refractory mortar also rated to take the heat. Then I'd buy a big ass rubbermaid storage container, plop your battery inside your custom firebrick container and start pouring sand over it until it is totally surrounded. This way if your even if your battery experiences that blast-style critical event vs the slow-burn style critical event, it is somewhat more likely to stay contained. 2. Buy a fire resistant container used for flammable liquid storage. These will cost about $200 to fit a battery and are designed to keep fires from spreading, BUT as far as I can tell, no UL tests have actually tested them on batteries such as these going thermal, so they may or may not works. 3. Store them in a fire-rated safe or an actual woodburnding stove. I heard about this one from an audience member that who was looking into buying containers rated to handle these batteries if they go critical but found that he'd be looking at 10k for 4 batteries. Then he realized he could just spend 1 K on a large safe that was rated to keep everything inside safe even in fire as hot as these batteries could get. Ultimately he realized he could just keep them his woodburning stove which he never used in the summer anyway. He ran charging cables through the air intake pipe and then felt safe charging them indoors. Would any of these strategies work in the event of a fire going critical? Well, they will probably contain the fire somewhat better than charging them in a cedar chest where you also happen to store your collection of antique matchbooks and historically relative newspapers. Again, I've never had a fire. I've never heard from any of my audience members that they have had a fire, and whenever I try to follow up on someone who comes in with photos and a story of a fire, I can usually prove the photo was not genuine. The photo was not taken by the person in the place and time when the person claimed the photo was taken. I also have struggled being able to get fire reports from these people even when I directly ask to see the findings from the Fire Department or Insurance Company that most certainly would have been involved in fires such as these. Due to a significant shortage of evidence that should be easily available for these people to provide to prove their credibility, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that at least most of these claims are made by people who are completely full of it. Now if you were riding a different brand, other than Flite or Lift, my advice would be more likely to be something akin to, "get a giant vat of monoammonium phosphate and store them in there."

Rated to 2100 joules of surge protection. According to the VerdantRideGPT, it can handle it as long as I don't try to charge more than 1 battery at a time in the schedule.

    excellent video you have really addressed the problems of faceplants because of water in the compartment. I had some water problems, put in a new seal, still had some water. lift suggested putting a little Vaseline spread around the casket. no more leaks.......tom

      Glad it helped. I think you'll find that the silicon lube goes on better, is less messy, and doesn't harm rubber products nearly as much. Petroleum products are not known for having inert relationships with other pliable materials.

      Me too. Unfortunately you can no longer buy the Lift4 Pro which kinda blows, but must mean they got something big (I mean small and light) in the works. I'm hoping for some radical innovations from them.

      Nope. Can't use lens guards in water. And as far as I know there is no way to make the cam float and keep it light and the pole invisible. I think you just gotta take a risk to get the shot. I've personally never lost a 360 riding. I've had them lost when friends borrow them and put them down and forget to pick them back up, but never ever while riding an eFoil.

    Thanks for the idea! I have a GetFoil foil and every now and then it instantly drops at a totally unpredictable time. One time the board dove hard and then popped back up. It nailed my ankle as I flew over the nose. That sucked big time for a month or so. I have had water in my board many times and I never gave it a thought. I will definitely keep track of that now and see if water intrusion is present on a day that the connection dropped. I also think that dielectric grease would work fine and is safe on seals. Thank you.

      Sure, you could use grease, but it is way messier, toxic, and super bad for the environment. Since I only need to treat my gasket 2x per year, I think I can afford to use a product that works nearly as well without the bad stuff and since I always have it around for other purposes anyway, it's just easier to keep on hand without busting into my CNC toolbox.

    Did you mention leaving the hatch propped open as much as possible between uses? One of my boards had been stored for a long time with the hatch closed and the latches locked down. The first time I used it, it ended up with a lot of water in the enclosure. Since then, I’ve stored both boards with their hatches propped open to allow the gaskets to relax and they stay bone dry. To this day I’ve not had a single incident of FPS.

    The volume of water in the perimeter of the hatch can be reduced before opening, if you use your fist and pound around the perimeter. Pounding around the perimeter will vibrate and explode the water out of the crevice. This is a trick that I've used when I used to own an efoil similar to Lift. It's interesting that you also mentioned a crack in the nose of the board. Earlier this season I had experience with a rental Fliteboard that started having connection issues at the end of the ride. It was fine at the start, but worse and worse later. It had a 2-in long significant crack in the nose that was exposing the foam. So apparently water in the nose can affect Flite brand as well... That or coincidentally there was some other issue that was happening. Overall, helpful advice for any compartment style board to care for the gasket and hatch.

    My dear Verdant, I took the time to watch your video about Fliteboard, and I must admit I was somewhat astonished. Like you, I am not affiliated with any brands, and I love efoiling; however, unlike you, I chose Fliteboard. I live in Florida, specifically Fort Lauderdale, and I am fortunate to spend most of my time on the water, foiling almost every day. I own four boards: Pro Carbon, Ultra, and Flite Pro Air, along with the performance mast and the 80 cm black aluminum mast, as well as several batteries. Not only have I never had any issues with my equipment, but the customer service in California has always responded to my various questions and has been both present and very professional. To give you some background, my first experience was with Lift Foil, which delivered a damaged carbon board during transport. That same board and the rest of the equipment were lost during delivery, and no one assisted me in tracking it down. Ultimately, after I went to the freight forwarder myself to retrieve my equipment, no one at Lift helped me. When I contacted Lift to ask for a goodwill gesture given all these issues, their response was entirely negative, offering only to take back the equipment by sending a representative to my boat to avoid returning it, which I did.

      Sounds to me like you got the same customer service from Flite I've heard from most of their customers. Just as I had reported on the show. I'm glad to hear I'm as accurate in my reporting as I thought I was. Lift sent a rep to handle your return personally? Damn, that seems like amazing customer support given that it was all just for a return. AND they had to find you on your boat? Like out in the middle of the ocean? Dang! Most companies would have made you ship it in and wait for it to be received before honoring a refund. Sounds to me like you encountered some rare unluckiness with your shipping and Lift came and took care of it for you. Sounds like both leading brands do a decent job of taking care of their customers.

    Flite v Lift competition is good. Any video to poke fun at one or other of the companies to try to make them do better is helpful. One small point though - I handed my 1 year old Flite in for a 1-year service on 8th October. I got it back on 9th October and as there was nothing to replace / just cleaning the service was FREE.

    Sorry but this review doesn’t make any sense , specially on the maintenance part. Specially if you own a Lift which I’m seeing on your channel. Have you ever stood on a FliteBoard. Your Maintenance schedule is incorrect as it will need to on a nearly basis or every 100 Hours. I guess you hope Lift will see your “ objective” review and give you a new board for free😂

    IMPORTANT UPDATE TO THIS SHOW: Trigger warning!!! Since this episode launched, everyone who sells these boards or are loyal to this brand have been super pissy about this show. So listen up all you Fliteboys because here's the scoop. 1. I was honest and I was accurate in my reporting. I'm just the messenger. If you think I got something wrong, state the specific detail where I was inaccurate and I'll deal with it. I will no longer be responding to any posts that are just mad because I said something you don't like to hear. I'm running a show about efoiling, not running a kindergarten for your vulnerable feelings. 2. I did find a couple of turds while investigating the Fliteboard purchasing process. While I may have shined a light on the turd, it isn't my turd. It's Fliteboard's turd and it has always been there so getting mad at me for pointing out where that horrible smell was coming from isn't going to change the flavor of the stench. Yes, you might love the smell of their turd but I didn't and I really think everyone should at least be aware of the turd before they buy into the turd. Fliteboard tried to deny the existence of the turd, then to cover up and explain away the turd, and finally, just directly lied to me about the turd. For me, that's when the turd got too smelly for me to continue wanting anything to do with the turd. Oh, and for the record, the board itself still seems awesome and pretty much turd-less. It's their maintenance schedule, warranty requirements, inability to effectively answer questions, and proceed with a reasonable sense of urgency, that were caked in poop. I want this board, but will likely wait until it is available in a version with about 80% less turd. 3. I'm a brutally honest reviewer. I don't hand out free gold stars when they aren't earned. When you lack honest criticism, you get RayGun breakdancing in the Olympics. My criticisms of Fliteboard should be viewed as a beneficial service to the customer, company, and the reseller. This should be viewed as a chance to improve because if they'd done better I would have bought one right away. Flite can improve, and if they do, that's just good for everyone.

    Your videos are usually awesome with great carving shots and product or riding advice. This video was just gas lighting something you are not going to use or need anyway. Buying a Flite board or Lift is like comparing a purchase of Mercedes vs BMW, the product and quality is what you are buying not the “Warranty”. The Flite warranty is 2yrs and you pointed out the requirements to keep that warranty. Flite Boards quality and reliability are industry leading, and you are not going to need a warranty, but they offer it anyway. Same thing with LIFT, high quality products. I have 3yrs and 200+hrs on my Flite board and ZERO issues. I take my board in 1 time per year in the off season to my local reseller and the service cost was just under $200 (so you had that accurate). Service is usually done in a matter of days or same day. You might want to connect with your local Flite reseller in MN or WI and I am sure they will service your board if you buy one. No need to ship the board to Flite HQ for service, you can find your local reseller on the Flite website. If my 1x/per year maintenance schedule voided my “warranty” doesn’t matter because the board still rides and looks like new. The goal is the max your ride-time of your E-foiling season for any brand and your video made it sound like you would be without a Flite Board for weeks and that’s just NOT TRUE. When you buy a LIFT or FLITE board you are getting the best of the best period! The warranty is a nice to have, not a need to have because these machines are built to last! In the Flite board Community on their App there are folks with thousands and thousands of hours of ride time and close to thirty thousand miles logged. With that many riders and hours/miles being logged…warranty is a non-issue for Flite Board, they are built to last!! Thank you for pointing this info out, but in reality, doesn’t matter. Buy FLITE, buy LIFT and you are going to love Efoiling! Stephan, if your goal is to see if a Flite set-up can match/beat your current Lift set-up and provide a better ride, contact your local Flite reseller and drop a few hundred $$ for a demo ride. Or you can try to attend one of the Demo Days/Community Rides posted on Flites Website.

      Sometimes the truth makes people feel like they've been gaslit when really they just don't like hearing the truth. I'm not responsible for Flite's maintenance schedule, warranty requirements, pricing, engineering, lack of transparency, or their sales process. I'm only responsible to be honest with my audience when I report what I've learned and I did that very well. How you feel about it is your problem and one that I'm not interested in nurturing. And when I buy anything, I always check the warranty. It is a really good sign of how much faith the company has in the longevity of their own product. I don't buy BMWs or Mercedes, because I was cool in high school and aren't compensating for anything. Your goals are your goals and it is a gross assumption to think that your goals are my goals or the same as anyone else's. For instance I don't care about maxing my ride-time, I care about carve precision and feeling Gs. I can always go back to my dock and load a fresh battery but I can't make a board that doesn't carve well be better than my 4Pro. Next season, I'll likely get my hands on an Ultra L2 and then we'll know for sure. But I'm not servicing this thing every 33.3 days so something must give on that front. Warranty is an issue for many Fliteboarders. I hear from plenty of them and most say the support and warranty Flite provides is good. Some have even called it fantastic. But, the boards to have failures and so far as I can tell, when they fail, Flite has treated most of them pretty well. You are welcome for pointing out the info, and it does matter. It matters so much that this show has experienced 91% more community engagement than all other shows this season. I'm pretty sure that if you buy any efoil and you'll love efoiling as long as the board stays running. I just think that to get obsessively into it with a passion, you'll likely need an Ultra L2 or 4Pro. It's one thing to stand on a board and glide over the surface of the water, and totally another to be transported to the fluffiest uncut powder you've ever ridden every single day of the summer. I don't want a demo ride. I've already ridden their boards. I want to own a board because only in ownership can you properly review a board. It takes weeks to learn to master a board and there's more to owning a board than just riding it. It has to fit into my life. I'll buy the thing as long as it makes sense to buy the thing and I'm not driving it in every 33.3 days and paying enough to buy a new Lift mast every three years to maintain it. Oh, and I have very strong reservations from buying anything from a company that isn't honest with me, and they weren't. So how about we give them the winter to deal with that a bit, and see what happens this spring.

    Flite vs Lift topics often become heated. They can range from educational, annoying, and humorous. I think other brands get excluded too often I rented a Fliteboard Pro (2 series) earlier this year to try, compare, and review. I had several interactions with Flite Customer service from two individuals and each one was fantastic and helpful for my experience. I too asked about the warranty and maintenance service and recieved only the official response as you pointed out on the website. I did not get any contradictory information as you did, but I also did not probe as much or suggest an exclusive warranty be drawn up. One potentially nice feature about the warranty is the remainder of that 2 year warranty can be passed on to a second owner if sold Overall the maintenance doesnt give me confidence due to my very remote location. Also it doesn't fit my budget as a big family dad. I'm more a budget efoil rider, but I have lots of experience and know how to take advantage of the underestimated performance and potential in more affordable brands such as Waydoo. I also tried a Lift V4 earlier this year. Lift customer service was initially responsive and pleasant for questions I had about a product, but quickly became a negative and arrogant experience when I mentioned that I owned a Waydoo. Eventually the rep hung up on me (or coincidentally signal was lost) when he realized i was not going to be buying an eFoil package. No I did not record the call and I have no "proof" of this interaction beyond my word. But honestly, I'm not going to judge Lift's entire customer service from this one unfair phone call. Customer service, while very important can be subjective person to person, place to place, etc. It's all very anecdotal. Again, because of my very remote location, no brand currently has any significant advantage in service. Waydoo customer service has been very good for me on multiple occasions. My most recent experience I would say was similar to your described experience with Lift. I was sent a new mast head that was able to easily replace on my own. Next season you should try comparing to the performance model of the Waydoo, the Waydoo EVO Master (kevlar/ carbon board). It should be available and with more options next year to better fit your style. With the Flite Ultra L2 you are curious if the performance will actually be worth the extra money... With the Waydoo Master you can evaluate if the performance will be greater than expected for the value. (I have not tried the EVO yet) More about Waydoo: Besides budget friendly, I value Waydoo for the simplicity in design. Everything is very plug and play. One simple plug for the battery. No cables and no hoses as seen on the Lift. So there's even fewer moving parts and components to break. Very quick and easy to assemble and disassemble and transport in my small passenger car. The EVO is even more Plug and Play. Waydoo has a Uni-body fuselage motor like Flite, but like Lift, is a direct drive. Acceleration will feel more like what you are used to as well. Another great perk of the direct drive is the sound. I would say it is just as quiet as the Lift V4 when the prop has been upgraded. supposedly the EVO is even quieter. I personally prefer the unibody fuselage motor over the Lift style separate and elevated motor. The entire length of the mast is available for elevation vs a loss of about 4 inches. You obviously love the longer Lift mast. The 32 inch mast is limited to about 28 inches of elevation. A unibody mast of the same length would have greater clearance, especially when there are choppy swells from Wakesurfing boats as is often the case on my lake. More thoughts on Lift and other things: I must say I love the FEEL of the Lift remote. But, the lack of auto safety lock feature on the remote acceleration is unacceptable. I've heard every explanation and reason for why there is no safety lock and none of them are worthy excuses. Every brand has this basic safety feature except Lift. Lift just needs to add a simple OPTION to disable it (Like Waydoo had done for the Flyer ONE remote) so everyone can be happy. It does sound like Lift has some great purchasing options and customization for their packages. Hopefully Waydoo can do something similar in the future now that they have more options and more on the way. SiFly is another brand to put on the radar. I would suggest eliminating the F-bombs from future videos In conclusion and perhaps most importantly, I have enjoyed every eFoil I have owned and tried. Magic can potentially be found with any brand. If people can try before they buy and do their own investigation too, they can perhaps find the magic that speaks to them most/ best And Live Life to the Foilest

      It's not that I'm unwilling to review a Waydoo or other brands, but having tried a few, I'm just not willing to pay them for the experience. If they were to send me a board to review, I'd probably be willing to do it but given my tastes and my standards, I likely wouldn't be able to give them a very positive review. If I was their Marketing Director I'd advise them not to send me a board unless they actually had a board that could legitimately match or beat a Lift4 Pro. Even if Lift sent me a brand new Sport or Lift3 F, I'd probably crucify it simply because I'd hate it so much more than the Pro. That said, I did try my neighbor's Lift3 F with a 32" mast 150 SV2/33 Carve / no Shroud, and I actually liked it enough to write Lift and tell them that if they sold a Lift3 F with a 32" Mast/LCS option I'd endorse it as a fantastic entry level option. As we should have expected, their response was non-existent. I assure you, I have no sway with Lift. I'm pretty sure they don't even realize I exist. Their mar/com just isn't great. Oh and while I'm sorry you don't like the words I choose to use when speaking, I can't do much to help you with that. I really think it is somewhat inappropriate to tell adults what words they should or shouldn't use. It is a superstition of the human spirit to believe that curse words have any more or less power than any other word. So while I'm not going to put even an ounce of effort to conform my speech, I will show you that I've put a lot of thought into my decision to do it and explain to you why I think it would be better for you to not allow words that offend you, offend you. 1. Free Speech and Personal Expression In societies that prioritize free speech, such as many democratic nations, the ability to express oneself without undue restriction is a core value. Words, including so-called "curse words," are tools of communication, and their impact depends heavily on context, tone, and the listener's interpretation. Declaring certain words "off-limits" restricts individual freedom of expression and contradicts the spirit of free speech. Adults in such societies should have the autonomy to choose their language without being subjected to arbitrary prohibitions based on subjective ideas of propriety. 2. Words Are Arbitrary Symbols Linguistically, words are just symbols - a collection of sounds or letters that represent ideas. What makes a word "offensive" is entirely a matter of cultural convention and social conditioning. If someone chooses to imbue a particular word with negative connotations, that is a reflection of their individual or societal context, not an inherent property of the word itself. This arbitrary nature reveals that any word, curse or otherwise, only has the power that people collectively assign to it. There is no objective reason to treat one word as intrinsically more harmful or offensive than another, especially when the same words can have different connotations in different languages or regions. Example, if I were to say, "Fudge, Frak, F-ing," instead of just saying, "Phuck!" does it make the words I speak somehow better. You know I want to just say, "Phuck," but that I've censored myself and infantilized my language to make others who falsely believe that, "Phuck," is some evil word when it just isn't. Don't fall victim to Voldemorting words. 3. Subjectivity of Offense Offense is subjective, and what offends one person may not offend another. Placing the burden on the speaker to anticipate and avoid offending every potential listener creates an impossible standard of communication. Instead, it should be the responsibility of the listener to manage their own emotional responses. Humans have the capacity to develop emotional resilience and cognitive coping strategies to deal with language that they find unpleasant. Expecting the speaker to cater to every possible sensitivity infantilizes adults, implying they are incapable of managing their own reactions. 4. Psychological Resilience and Personal Responsibility People often face uncomfortable or unpleasant experiences in everyday life. Developing resilience - the ability to manage discomfort without undue emotional distress - is a vital life skill. By placing the responsibility on listeners to manage their own reactions to words they find offensive, we encourage the development of psychological resilience. Conversely, if society insists that speakers constantly censor themselves to avoid offending others, it perpetuates a culture of fragility, where individuals expect the world to shield them from discomfort rather than developing their own coping mechanisms. 5. The Slippery Slope of Censorship Once we begin declaring specific words "off-limits" for the sake of avoiding offense, we step onto a slippery slope toward censorship. Who gets to decide which words are inappropriate? And once we restrict language in one area, it becomes easier to restrict it in others, leading to a narrowing of acceptable discourse. This is antithetical to the values of free expression and open dialogue. Words often carry power because of their ability to challenge norms and provoke thought, and restricting them in any form could ultimately undermine important conversations and social progress. Conclusion: To claim that some words have intrinsic value or harm greater than others is a superstition - a belief based on social conditioning rather than rational thought. In a society that values free speech, adults should have the right to express themselves using the full spectrum of language. Rather than demanding that others censor their language to avoid causing offense, it is the responsibility of each individual to manage their own emotional responses. Free speech empowers dialogue, personal growth, and resilience, while unnecessary restrictions on language encourage fragility and a stifling of expression. in

And maybe that's not the case anymore. Maybe UA-cam is more lax on that now and no longer flags it in voice or text 🤷‍♂️? Thanks for taking the time to read my comment through. I didn't expect this one suggestion to be the singular thing someone would respond to out of it. Is there any real gain from using the word? Maybe? Maybe Not? Actually it's not "just a word," it's one of the most addictive words for those with weak minds and vocabulary. I think everyone knows at least one person whose entire vocabulary of adjectives, adverbs, and other descriptives and interjections (positive AND negative) has been reduced to a single four letter word for S3X. The word has more power over them than they have over the use of it. And in this case it is simultaneously more and less than just a word... But mostly less. It's just an annoying parroted sound. Stephan (sorry I'm not sure of the spelling) of Verdant Ride obviously has the will, strength, and freedom to use it as he pleases and is not one of these people who are addicted to it. If he was, I wouldn't even be here. I don't agree with everything he says (or word choice) and our experiences with Flite differ (especially customer service). If limited to just the two brands, I'd choose Flite over Lift based on MY preferences even though I also don't like the maintenance that was clearly stated to ME. Nevertheless, I respect Lift and each brand and what they bring to the table. I like hearing, learning, and sharing about everything (e)foiling. One last thought on the video and experience reviews in general: previous experience can often shape how someone will respond to changes. They will typically either welcome them or much the opposite. Everyone is biased to an extent. Being honest about or identifying existing bias and preferences can help BOTH those who agree or disagree. For example. Lift lacking an acceleration lock is a deal breaker for ME. I extend a warning about it to everyone who asks my opinion about Lift, BUT I also say that some prefer it and if they know about it then they can decide for themselves how they feel about it. Same with Flite maintenance. If people are aware, they can make their own decision.

I also did not read this response from you until *after* I had responded to the first person. It was just intended as a simple suggestion which may or may not be applicable based on current UA-cam standards... Which maybe I should have looked up and reviewed before speaking about it. Even if so, you likely prioritize your voice over anything UA-cam says or actually does I may not agree on using the F bomb Myself, although I have dropped the F bomb on rare and reserved occasions. I can silence and clear a room when I use it... Like a "bomb." Because I have not over-used it like so many others have. Same goes for any other overly used word, including the censored replacements that you gave an example of. Just to be clear, I am in no way saying you over use it. Far from it.     Based on the comments, it appears as though there are some that accept what was discussed in this podcast, and others that don't want to accept what was said in this podcast. But nobody has yet actually been able to pinpoint anything actually said in this show that was factually incorrect. Seems to me that Stephan documented the experience he had researching and engaging with with Fliteboards. He discovered 2 things that he didn't like. A. The maintenance schedule requires him to service the board every 100 hours at $200-$220 a pop and that is more often than he wants to service a board. B. The Fliteboard rep denied this is the case, deflected, and then just outright lied about it. Issue A: Is just a fact and we can all read it on their website. You can try to tell Stephan he shouldn't feel the way he feels about this service requirement but it doesn't change the fact that he feels that way. Issue B: Either happened the way Stephan described it or he manufactured the phone transcript and emails he showed in the show or he was honest about the exchange he had. I guess I can't quite figure out what's in it for him to lie about this exchange. It seems that the Fliteboard loyalists and people making money selling the Fliteboards are angry that the show reflects negatively on Fliteboard and want to blame Stephan for making this show. Is he responsible to Flite's maintenance schedule or their warranty requirements? No. Is he responsible for Flite's sales reps not being honest about these issues? No. Stephan's job is just to report his experience, not to make you happy. He keeps asking his critics to pinpoint anything he or his cohost said on the show that is inaccurate and he never gets a specific answer other than people telling him he should have talked to a local deal instead of Fliteboards sales reps or trying to say that his cohost isn't legit. Fine, if there is illegitimacy, what was said on the show that was illegitimate?

      You nailed it. I discovered a turd when shopping for a Fliteboard. I didn't make the turd but I did shine a light on it. If you don't like the smell of Flite's turd, complain to Flite, not to me. The turd was always there, so I suggest thanking me for showing you all where that horrible smell was coming from rather than trying to vilify me for showing you all the source of the stench.

    Is @captainriptide a real person or an AI chat bot? What gives him/it credibility on the subject matter of efoils other than your word? It gives the vibe of a text to speech bot. Not the best look, if you wanted a real discourse you should have reached out to a real person like @jetsurfnation or any other foil shop with real experience using both brands. I know plenty of dealers that started with lift before switching to flite and plenty of dealer that sell both if you need a recommendation.

      If you wanna bust on Capt. Rip, try actually pointing something he said that you can prove is not factual or inaccurate. I'm sure he'll either publish a correction, or ruthlessly prove that your assessment is completely inaccurate. Perhaps there's a third option I'm not considering but, perhaps that too. Why did I choose him instead of someone who makes money selling boards? You really can't think of a single reason why choosing a fact-checking cohost who makes money selling the very product we're investigating isn't a conflict of interest? Really? Trying to claim the Captain is not credible because he's a Pirate or lives in Antigua or is an AI chat bot is just racist. :P Judge the art, not the artist, or the content, not the content producer, or something like that. Using a TTS isn't the best look? Steven Hawking used a TTS, so do lots of deaf people. Stop being an ableist jerk. You don't know the Captain's backstory or hardships he's faced. He's missing a frak'n eyeball FFS! Give the guy a break. :P I'm not a dealer, don't really care all that much about the needs, desires, or wishes of dealers. I work for the riders. They are my audience, I'm loyal to them alone.

      @@VerdantRide Just constructive criticism my guy, you don't need to get defensive. AI is a touchy subject especially on UA-cam, regardless of whether its factual or not. Not saying its AI give off the impression your trying to hide what it is, plus I know UA-cam does require you to disclose weather generative AI was used in any part of your video. I'm not condemning or promoting your usage just giving you a heads up creator to creator.

      @@BayFoils I thought I was being funny. I'm from Minnesota, our sarcasm often gets misunderstood for other things. Still, I don't care about AI being a touchy subject. Show me a video on UA-cam busting on AI that isn't a complete hypocrisy. It always makes me chuckle when I see that sad faced UA-camr discussing the tragedy of AI and all the jobs it is replacing from a studio filled with automation technology that has completely replaced an entire broadcast studio of 50 professionals. And almost always in the background is a guitar or some other instrument that was manufactured in a completely automated or child-labor exploitative factory. I'll start taking anti-AI UA-camrs seriously when they start wearing clothing made on a loom, by hand, thread by f'n thread. But I digress. Capt. Rip aint generative AI. He's mocap animated using Adobe Character Animator.

      @@BayFoils Nobody needs anything but food, water, shelter, air. But again, you are trying to judge the artist instead of the art. If I could have gotten Capt. animated without having to rig and mocap him, I'd have done it because doing it this way was a time suck I wish wasn't required to make the character come to life. My background is in computer animation and I've been using computers to substantially increase the artist's ability to produce content with significantly increased efficiency over traditionally drawn animation for the past 30+ (oh my god I'm old!) years. In that time I've been advancing the software to make it more and more automated and more and more efficient. The goal should be that some day anyone can make a Pixar quality animation or a AAA video game by purely describing the story, characters, look, feel, style with a really smart computer that does all the work to make the idea realized It is not a virtue to limit ideas from becoming realized only to massive studios with massive budgets. It should be something we all want and welcome and the people with the best ideas are the ones that make the best content without wasting massive amounts or money, time, or 10 years in training to learn how to make it. Embrace AI that allows human creativity to be driven at the speed of thought.

Flite is super reliable (Lift is relatively reliable), their customer service is super responsive and commercial in a good way, maintenance is super cheap. Like you, I am not affiliated with any brands, and I love efoiling; however, unlike you, I chose Fliteboard. I live in Florida, specifically Fort Lauderdale, and I am fortunate to spend most of my time on the water, foiling almost every day. I own four boards: Pro Carbon, Ultra, and Flite Pro Air, along with the performance mast and the 80 cm black aluminum mast, as well as several batteries. Not only have I never had any issues with my equipment, but the customer service in California has always responded to my various questions and has been both present and very professional.

En ce qui me concerne, je surfe sur FliteBoard (moi aussi, tous les jours, et bien mieux que toi…). Je n’ai jamais eu de problème, bien au contraire : que du plaisir ! L’esthétique, la finition, la légèreté, la puissance, les différentes couleurs, les différentes ailes ou hélices me correspondent parfaitement. Nathan, qui s’occupe de moi en Californie, a su répondre à mes questions et a toujours été présent quand j’en avais besoin. Il représente au mieux FliteBoard. Nous formons aujourd'hui une petite communauté de foilers. Nous avons la chance de pratiquer un nouveau surf ; tu ne devrais pas perdre ton temps à exprimer ta colère dans une vidéo, mais plutôt à te faire plaisir sur l’eau. Une dernière chose : tu vas perdre énormément de fans en publiant cette vidéo. Well, I guess I don't understand why riding one brand or another precludes me from criticizing anything but I guess I'll explain to you why I chose to be critical of their maintenance schedule and lack of clarity on their maintenance schedule. 1. Their maintenance schedule is unsustainable for how much I ride. 2. They first denied the maintenance schedule is what is clearly stated, and then blamed it on being old information, then mistranslated, then just flat out told me I wouldn't need to bring it in every 100 hours for service even though it clearly says that I would on their website's required service schedule. I will criticize anyone who I find is conducting what I find to be less than 100% honest sales practices and I don't care if anyone disagrees with me on this point. I despise dishonesty and I have no hesitation in calling it out when I'm shown irrefutable proof that a company is being sketchy. I'm not credible? Good luck with that BS. Everything I said on this show is exactly what I happened as I reported it. It isn't my fault that Flite is denying their own documentation on their maintenance schedule and it would be irresponsible for me not to report on it exactly how it is written and how it was described to me. You can blame the messenger all you want, but it is Flite that has behaved in a way that makes them look bad, I'm just telling you all what happened when I tried to buy a board. My fans will be disappointed and surprised? Well I was the one surprised by this discovery more than anyone. My fans will expect me to be consistently honest because that is all I've ever promised to be. I never said I was a show for people who get easily offended or who don't want to hear harsh truths about their favorite brands. I'm gonna call it like I see it and if I'm ever wrong, I'll be fast to report my error and make a correction. Can you tell me exactly what I got wrong in this show that needs correcting? I'm glad you've had a good experience but that has nothing to do with me thinking that bringing my board in for maintenance and spending $220 every 33.3 days is ridiculous and them covering that up is dishonest. I said that in the show, at least a couple of times. I even said that it is possible the Ultra L2 is 200% better than the Lift4 Pro and if it is, it might be worth all the maintenance hassle. A surfer of my age? I honestly have no idea what my age has to do with this or if you are saying I'm a young surfer or an old surfer? What the hell point are you trying to make? You surf on a Fliteboard and are better at surfing than me? I'm sure I don't care what you surf, how well you surf, or that you are better at surfing than me, because I'm not eleven, and paralyzed with insecurity. I shouldn't waste my time reviewing boards and brand but instead just have fun on the water? Dude! What show do you freak'n think you've been watching? I published the "Brutally Honest Review of the Lift3 Pro" and I was 100% honest about all of the good and all of the bad and it helped my audience make better decisions. All I do is review stuff, ride stuff, and try to show people how much fun you can have on an efoil. I can't avoid the negative when I discover negative things. That isn't how honest reporting works and that doesn't help anyone. I'll lose a lot of fans? If I lose fans by being honest, then I'd rather have no fans and keep my integrity than be dishonest with all the fans in the world. It might feel good for everyone to ignore the bad and hand out free gold stars to everyone, but that's exactly how you get RayGun breakdancing in the Olympics. I'm actually doing more right now to help both Fliteboard and their customers by being honest than all you smug fan-boys who think that pretending a company with a really crappy maintenance schedule isn't a real thing and that it is okay for them to lie to new customers about it in the presale. What a strange insecure world you exist in to think that I have even the slightest fear of people unsubscribing or not liking me. I'm not making this show to make everyone like me. I make this show to help people discover the fun of this sport and to help them get the most out of it. If my audience can't trust me to be critical of things that deserves criticism they certainly won't get any value out of this show and might just waste their money on crap that won't bring them any joy. If that is what they want, then they gotta find another show. I'm not that guy and cannot be that guy, and even if I could, I wouldn't choose to be that guy. Again, it is better to be an honest asshole than a dishonest wallflower. This is what I believe and these are my values, and I'm fine with you criticizing me for it. Likely nothing could be better for my channel than having people out in the world telling me how much I suck for being honest. I say bring it on!

It's surprising that you can post your critiques while claiming to be open to feedback, but when those comments don't suit you or simply challenge your viewpoint, you delete them. With this attitude, I understand better now; your video is not only false but incredibly inconsistent. Stick to making foil videos-you're much more convincing at that.

      Cool. Don't see how any of your experience has even a remote correlation to what I discovered in the buying process. Everything I reported on happened and I was honest about it. If you don't like it, your beef is with Flite, not me. I didn't make the turd, I just shined a bit of light on it for all of us to fully realize the turd existed.

      @@olalus 8 MPH? Or 8 Virtual Gear? Both seem impossibly slow. You probably already know this but I've needed to explain this to many so I'll just do it again. While the virtual gear does contribute to the maximum possible top speed, it is really more about how much acceleration power you can throw into the prop instantly as you squeeze. So I can set my virtual gear to 10 and if I get my body position right and keep that trigger locked in, I'll get pretty close to the same top speed I'd get when I set it to 15. I suggest that everyone keep working on their throttle control so that they can increase their virtual gear while maintaining control of the board. It will allow you to pull off many more awesome cranks and banks then you'll ever be able to do at lower virtual gear settings. The reason to set the VG low is just to keep it from being too twitchy for riders before they advance to gain better control of the throttle. My ultimate advice is, set your VG to whatever number makes your perfect level causing speed at exactly a half trigger pull. This allows you the best range to feather the throttle up or down as needed when banking, diving, climbing, etc. So for me that is usually 13-14 depending on various factors like wingset, battery level, additional gear weight like thicker wetsuits, etc.

    The bottom line both are great boards but Lift if falling behind quickly in terms of innovation, I cant wait to see if they are going to introduce a new Lift 5 next year to make a big come back!

    I think comparing the standard Fliteboard Ultra with the aluminum mast, and maybe even the Explorer battery (though not possible for the new Ultra boards), would be a fairer and more interesting comparison to Lift. To me, Fliteboard’s dominance in the top segment seems too obvious and expected, especially considering the price range. Fliteboard is very reliable, and it's possible to service it yourself without much trouble. The biggest downside is their prices and the software; I often hear about someone experiencing a problem with a bug in the latest version.

      P.S. You are right about the warranty situation it is a little sketchy. Honestly, it's most likely that if something breaks, it won't be covered anyway . Based on my experience and what I’ve seen, they are very reliable, and the warranty is for a limited period anyway. I also think you're too focused on trying to find something sketchy. What we all care about most is the ride experience, performance, and overall reliability, you also have the option to go on a vacation and rent a Flitebord.

      @@KV-lj6el For a standard rider, there's one service, and then the warranty is over. Maybe 2 for someone who really rides a lot. My local guy quoted me at $200, but he also said that in the future I could just buy the kit and do it myself so that the $200 wasn't a yearly cost... rather the $50 that you mentioned. For most, this video was a bit overkill. Agree with the Cpt. slowing it down, I think this could have been a 30 minute video. That being said, I think that it's important for people to know.
