Monos Island is close to the main island of Trinidad and is easily accessible by boat, it makes for a great dive location as this training video with Laura shows. We did some skills and enjoyed the very varied marine life that we encountered just close to shore.

    I can Vouch for the AL80 Buoyancy. When I did a Lake Cleanup I used my Aqua Lung Omni Custom BCD for the First time. Once I got there I found out Trim Pockets were Extra. Used a 7/5mm FS in 55F Water. Ok in the beginning of the dive. Got down to around 1500, Had trouble staying down. Hit about 1200, Floating with an Empty BCD. Went back to the shop 2 days later. Spoke to the Owner. Who was Surprised the Omni didn't include Trim Pockets for the $800 Cost. He sold me a set. Switched some of the Weights he sold me. I should be good now for the next Cleanup.

      I realize there are some Lessons to be had here. As I was Certified Aug 2023. Check the Gear before heading out. And to Test the Gear in a Pool. Which unfortunately I wasn't able to do. I swim at a College Pool. They may not allow me to. They do allow me to do Breatholds the length of the Pool along the floor. Max Depth 13 1/2 Feet. Roughly a 90 Foot run each time.

    Agree with the no hand feeding comment, in fact, do not physically/directly feed these marvellous creatures at all. Danger that humans get associated with "free" food is great and not the right pathway, will and could create a disastrous situations in the future. This is a risky undertaking, with potential (unforeseen) serious consequences and should be a bit more thought through, I think. However, the only way to learn about these magnificent creatures and their behaviours is to be able to go into their environment on their terms, most definitely there is need for that, very glad that these brave divers are willing to go there in persuit to gain knowlegde. Hopefully by learning and engaging, a more suitable way of approaching these beautiful creatures in the future will be created.

      Thank you kindly. I come from an Island(s) in the Caribbean where sharks are used as food, however the overfishing of sharks and shark finning can have a negative impact on our ecosystem, in diving with them some ppl realize that they are not there to eat or harm us. Some divers have decided not to add to the demand and no longer request shark on their menu :) !!

    Well done, I tried it once and flooded my Aqualung i450T. So I had to buy a new one. 😞 When I changed the battery/O-ring and closed it up again, for some reason the 'light' button (down right) was 'loose', as in it was not coming back after pushing it, if you know what I mean. I didn't really pay attention to it and thought it wouldn't be a problem, as it was just the light button, which I hardly use(d). But my dive computer flooded, very slowly but surely. What did I do wrong? When wanting to replace the battery, I removed the inner mechanism of the dive computer, to check it out??! - which I shouldn't have done. ! Make sure you DO NOT remove the inner part of the mechanism, there is no need to do that. As it can cause problems to the resistance mechanism of the buttons! --> Uptill now I had it done by a technician that always did a pressure test on it too. But after seeing this video I think I am now confident enough to try it again myself. 🙂 Do exactly what RonTiah does, perfect! Thank you for posting RonTiah.

  • @joejeans7913
    @joejeans7913 Рік тому

    I think you sacrifice the light weight of the aluminum anyways by using weights so that's cool I will just stick with steel.

    • @rontiah
      @rontiah Рік тому

      While I do agree, i recently tried to hydro test a steel on a caribbean island and cannot get it done to DOT regulation / Standards … I love my steel tanks, but this has now become a serious problem and issue. My point simply being that whilst i prefer steel, depending on where it is used and the divers live, they may have only 5 yeas use before having to ship back to USA for hydro. Thanks for your comment joejeans.
