The game isn't based on Centralia, the movie Silent Hill is. They used Centralia's coal fire for the town in the movie. But the game isn't based on any town at all.
Yes that's right. I was referring to the movie. For the game they used a fictitious small American town as a place the game is set in. I see I wasn't very clear on what I was talking about. Thank you for making it clearer. :) Side note anyone curious the town of Centralia has been burning since 1962.
In the games, Silent Hill is located in Maine.
