OK. My first attempt at oil pastels quickly turned into a regular oil painting. I'll take another stab at the 'oil pastel diluted with alcohol' today. Otherwise, this is the classic view across the northeastern section of Union Bay near the University of Washington. Laurelhurst's Webster Point is in the middle-distance with Newcastle in the far distance. 520 Floating Bridge arcs in from the rig...

@@golgeadam9065 Danke!
More Ward! Would love to hear you explain your technique/decisions while doing these. Keep up the great work!
@@EveryGuitarEver Thanks Peter! I need to find time between painting and watching your videos! Everyone here needs to visit everyguitarever.com!
Well done! Thx for sharing.
Like I see in many of your paintings you give the feeling of movement. In this painting the movement is specifically assigned to the clouds. I enjoy your work. Thx
Thank you very much! I admit, I do like the paintings with the “a little too dark” blue in the upper sky. It doesn’t really look like that but this effect conveys the mood well.
This style of painting is a departure from your usual. I think I will buy some gouache myself as I’ve never tried it before. I’m intrigued with the statement : ‘It is completely different than oil, water or acrylic’. So I set a new path today for my own work.. Thx
@@kathleenwing1590 I used tubes of acrylic gouache for this painting. I have since ordered “traditional” gouache. Traditional gouache can be reconstituted after drying. Acrylic gouache dries and becomes permanent. Both have advantages.
So enjoyable watching the painting’s development along with the perfect music accompaniment. Thank you for sharing. P.S. I really like the ‘movement’ you captured.
Thanks Kathleen. I’m still working on my AI music prompts. :)
Excellent. Thanks
I love your work and how you do your work. This oil painting turned out rather good for a ‘first timer with oil pastels.
Just found your channel great work find it very inspiring keep up the great work 😀🇨🇦
@@dannyjohnston1872 Thank you Danny. I appreciate you dropping by.
Loved watching you paint this!
@@victorialikes7247 Hey neighbor! Thank you for taking a look.
Your painting makes me want to take a walk by the lake and soak in the beauty.
Thanks GL! I appreciate your critique.
I always enjoy watching you paint. I had to slow down the video to watch.
nice😍❤
Great picture but no ducks?
No ducks! It's weird, sometimes there's nary a bird of any sort, then other times, flocks!
💕💯🎨🎨🎨
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing!! what kind of medium do you use at 1:15, please?
Linseed Oil! Linseed oil is the only medium I ever use with oil. Thank you for your question. I’ll start putting more details into my videos. Cheers
@@wardwhitneyspring 😊👍
Just so relaxing watching you paint. The Music sets the mood and the plen air locations you choose. Thx for sharing.
Kathleen, I'm glad you're enjoying it, I appreciate you watching!
Awesome
@@Countrysidewonderer Thanks! I hope to get back to daily painting. It does’t really matter the scene, just the experience of doing it a lot.
Interesting passersby
Cats, rats, mice, Juncos, raccoons. My front yard is busiest in the wee hours.
The sky looks amazing
@@Countrysidewonderer You’re too kind.
It's a good picture love the different colours
@@Countrysidewonderer thank you.
You have really improved over the year
@ Thank you Ross. Painting is an interesting activity. It’s changed how I see and think about what I’m seeing. I can’t ever be bored again. There’s too much to keep me busy. Send me more photos to paint! Our collaboration on Pendleton Hill has almost 2,000 views!
Excellent
Thanks!
Love the atmospheric feeling you create with your work and your music choices.
Thanks Kathleen!
thanks. nice confidence builder.
This is a great tutorial for anyone watching. I love the fast and free style and use it often in my own studio. Keep doing what you’re doing.
Thank you sir. Fast prevents second guessing.
Maybe you could have saved the fish?
Hey CSW! Yeah, poor fishy, but a bird’s gotta eat.
That's a weird looking cat
Yeah, but you should hear him sing!
I'm trying to learn the landscape with your video, but it's very hard to follow with this speed. Can you do it slower and play the original speed?
Hi Hastyahany, In the youtube video controls (the little cogwheel gear icon on each video) you can adjust the speed and play videos much slower (or faster). I happen to have this video also in real time here: Carp Inlet (Clouds) in real time - Oil landscape ua-cam.com/video/-LxRa3_cKBs/v-deo.html I know many of my videos are very fast. I did this because most viewers are impatient or only have a few minutes to watch. I’ll start offering more real time videos. Thank you for your thoughts!
@wardwhitneyspring Thanks a lot for your help. By the way, i personally believe most people would enjoy your real-time painting because it's quite relaxing.
Very Lovely!
Thanks Geoffc376! I appreciate your comment.
Superbe ! Merci ! 🙂👍
Thank you @TheMrCzi
Love it!
Thanks!!
Glorious!
Really excellent you’re really producing some excellent work! I bought your landscape book. Evolution in print.
Thank you Mr. Molen. I appreciate your support.
FAST but very nice
If I could step into this painting, I’d definitely bring a picnic and hope a coyote doesn’t steal my sandwich! This meadow looks so peaceful! Makes me want to lie down in the grass and relax.
I keep checking my painting but I haven’t seen you in there yet.

Ward, I’m a fan. I like your style and enjoy watching you develop the ‘mood’ of each painting. Thx for sharing.
@@kathleenwing1590 Kathleen, thanks for leaving your comment, I appreciate your support.
Thank you Mr. Molen! I’m happy with the result.
very nice 🎉
Brushes ? Size & brand . I enjoyed. Thx
@@kathleenwing1590 For most watercolor paintings I use 2” Ron Ranson Hake, #6 Round and a Size 1 Rigger. I don’t know the round and rigger brands. I was fortunate to inherit my dad’s painting gear. I have enough to last the rest of my life, it’s a crazy amount.
Why can't I find any BSG videos other than this interview? Surely there's a lot more? I was hoping to find the song they wrote about me
@@JasonCramer Hi Jason. I videoed two BSG videos in 2003 and uploaded both to UA-cam a few years ago. One of the guys from BSG contacted me requesting I make one of the video private. Try contacting the band for that link. Best of luck.
Lovely. Relaxing. Thx for sharing.
@@kathleenwing1590 this is my first attempt at a snow scene. I’m surprised by how much I like the result. If you look closely it’s just blobs of paint but from a distance it looks pretty good. I’ll do more snow paintings.
I always enjoy watching your process. Your interpretation, I think, of this photo is a little different from your on site work. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Kathleen! Yeah, I don't try to get exact anymore :) A lot of the online painters I watch say "Use your view as inspiration, feel free to move stuff around." I'm mostly trying to capture the mood I felt when I saw something. This one is the sunburst rays slicing through the clouds. I'm happy with the result. Thanks for checking in! Ward
nice study, so fast, really enjoyed watching how well it came together - amazing - mm
Thank you Mr. Molen. It’s the view we both grew up with for many years. This study works when viewed tiny, which is pretty neat. Key is for me to nail the silhouette because we all know it like the noses on our faces.
