Sorry, I accidentally deleted the question, trying to answer it. But no. Unfortunately because the grass block is a full block, a hopper can't pull the wool through it.

Little movements between frames helps and mine-imator has some patterns you can use to simulate running and walking. It's a pretty useful tool.

I understand completely. I was laughing the whole time I was looking for the right sounds. You'd be surprised how many shovel sounds there are.
