NINE is a global network of Neurodivergent educators and their allies seeking to broaden the narrative about Autistic and otherwise Neurodivergent realities and amplify the perspectives of those who are most marginalized within our communities.
We believe that Education is truly a conduit for social change, and challenge those who are seeking to be allies, to join us on our journey as co-learners, reflecting, and questioning our own biases and redefining Education for today and tomorrow.
We promote active allyship and advocacy through strategic collaborations, mentoring, professional development and community workshops, as well as ongoing consultation and dialogue to inform human rights based neuroaffirmative practice.

This video was created as part of a presentation by NINE founder, Karen Timm for the Ajax Town Council Meeting, September 2022. It provides a brief introduction about why NINE exists and what we offer to the community. Following the presentation, Town Council approved the proclamation declaring October as "Neurodiversity Education and Neurodivergent Acceptance Month"

In regards to Pathologization: If an insurance forces an autistic to attend and participate in a meeting (not being asked if it was okay in the morning) taking place in unfamiliar environment (new place), unfamiliar psychiatrist, who IS NOT EDUCATED IN AUTISM, and can slap ANY DIAGNOSIS on you, based on HIS "EXPERTISE" of other disorders such as DEPRESSION (when you are clearly NOT) or anything else, completely disregarding AUTISTIC TRAITS and the REACTIONS TO OVERWHELM or STRESS or Complex PTSD.
