We went to the dyno to get the tune dialed in, because of the class rules I'm only allowed to make about 95 horsepower so we wanted to make sure we were making exactly that much.     I have everything wired in my 2003 nb2 and it works great. Only thing is that when I have the 2003 manual ecu and immo in, the car starts but it like to bog under throttle and idle is high, i can’t seem to figure it out and i tried adjusting base idle. the car works great with auto ecu in

      I would confirm the ECU part numbers, there were some differences in wiring harnesses for cars that had unique emissions systems.

      It should be close to perpendicular but doesn’t have to be perfect, but yes do that first

    Any danger to driving the car if the noise is present? I believe this is what I’m hearing in my nb miata. It sounds like a “circular” rattling coming from the timing belt area

      No danger, I would get it addressed when you can but being non-interference the motor would be ok even in the worst case

    Which Kit do you use?

      We use the Exedy OEM style clutch kits for 90% of our clutch replacements, if it’s just for street use or even track use if you don’t have a turbo or anything like that. They come with the pilot bearing and throw hour bearing, stock clutch feel too. If you mean a kit for the conversion, there’s no kit, just OEM parts

    I bought a 2003 Mx-5 that has 19K miles on it from new (Yes 19.000!). It has exactly that same noise, but it does it only when cold and not even always. I was already planning to do a timing belt and all the accessories, I believe it still has all the original parts. Good to know that I don't have to figure out where that noise comes from. Mine has another strange very subtle wining noise that I believe being the power steering pump.

    Hi, I newly rebuilt my 99 Miata engine and put everything back into the car. Currently car turn over but doesn’t start. Tested spark plug and see no spark. When I crank the car with spark plug out I can smell the fuel, but when I do the two methods in your video there isn’t the expected noise. Is this noise from fuel system or somewhere else? Any insight will be very helpful, thanks!

      If you hear no noise, it means the ECU isn’t trying to start the car, you probably forgot to plug in a sensor somewhere, just double check all your work

    Lots of good information, however I wish you covered the one thing I need :D - AUTO TRANS - there is a Trans. Vacuum Modulator (I can not locate it). Everyone says its a common replacement however there are no videos on how to on line or where its located.

      It’s on the driver side towards the rear of the transmission, looks kind a like the cruise control actuator with a vacuum hose going to it

    I did my TB and tensioner, plus WP and all the seals 5k km ago and my Miata it's doing this exact noise but not continuosly, what the fuck...

      @@immortanautomotive9221 just checked both tensioners before going to work and they're tight. Idek at this point, it's a dayco kit shouldn't have failed so soon. Do you think I could replace the tensioners without messing up the timing? Or should I just TDC and lock the cams?

    What if my car doesn't let me turn on the engine without shifting to neutral?

      That’s normal, in the video I wire the neutral switch to the starter so the car will only start with the shifter in neutral but you don’t have to push the clutch. If you don’t want this you can just connect the wires for the safety switch to each other to bypass that function, or wire them inside the car to the clutch switch as most cars are

      I wouldn’t, but I wouldn’t daily any kind of project car. I like to keep my fun cars for fun, not for sitting traffic or driving in the rain etc

    Why didn’t you swap a k24a2? Such a better engine and way more potential and horsepower

      Because in order to have clearance for a traditional exhaust manifold you have to install a tubular subframe which adds considerable extra expense and labor to the job. For the customer’s needs a few extra HP wasn’t worth the cost. In some racing applications people also go this route because the tubular subframe may not be legal for their series or class.

      @@immortanautomotive9221 yeah but the K2 4 Has way more potential it’s worth doing the swap in the long run. You’ll be way more happy if you ever decide to do turbo build nitrous build more horsepower makes me sing that engine that you swapped in is worthless high compression and can’t make much horsepowermight as well just buy it 2023 or 2024 Miata that has 180 hp and be done with some swapping and engine cost the same price

      Wait you did the whole timing belt and seals but didn’t replace these? We get them in a kit from gates that comes with the timing belt. You might be able to replace them without taking the timing belt off but that’s basically the job.

    My miata is a 1991 swap to manual for a long time a few years swap the engine after that the signal starter sometimes work sometimes no I know everything is new starter battery checking the diagram cruise control and transmission module must be bypassed ?????because I just bypass the interlock switch

      Not sure, could be a blend door issue? This video was just about one specific kind of failure, there are lots of other possibilities

    Stupid question: I need to adjust my TPS. Where do I insert the feeler gauges? Like where is the throttle stop screw? Is that bit at 5:25?

      No that’s the dash pot, the throttle stop screw is on the other side, hard to explain, I would think google image search would give you what you’re looking for.

    You don’t mention what has to be done if anything to the two sets of plugs that are on the clutch pedal itself. One is a white two prong plug. The other one is a sensor attached to the assembly that has a very small two pin hole. Do I have to do anything with these or is everything else covered in the Breakdown of electrical requirements for the swap?

      I just started the car . There is a P1601 code ECM/TCM communication error . It runs great still, the odometer is working and all the gears are shifting fine. Do I need to swap the original engine ECU from the manual car into the automatic car to make it communicate properly?

    Until you explained it was a 1 of 1 custom I assumed someone had taken the interior from the 2002SE and swapped it over.
