Blakes 7 music video - Desperado
Putting this together, I realised that Avon basically spent 4 years travelling the universe, meting exotic women, and beating them up

Hell yeah!
Very cool! Yep... now I just have to watch the whole series again for the umpteenth time :-) Thanks, well done!
I thought it funny the lyrics of this pop song so resembled the Blake's 7 story. Then I checked on it and found the song was deliberately based on Blake's 7. Alternate verses illustrate Blake's and Avon's conflicting world views. The problem with Avon was his paranoia. Not without justification since he been betrayed deeply. But Blake's betrayal by others had been worse, far worse. And yet he strove to rise above it. This makes Blake the man of thought who can rise above his base feelings. Avon who described himself as "brains, but no heart". Well he was wrong about this. He was all heart. He was honest about how he felt. Avon said "show me someone believes in anything and I'll show you a fool". They disliked each other, but once they parted ways. Searched for each other. Each felt they could not do without the other. Actually this resembles the Gawain, Percival combination of the Grail Romance.
Yes I agree they disliked each other, Avon especially hated Blake. I don't go with all this they "secretly loved each other" snowflake garbage.
I think that the Avon, Blake relationship was a very (emotionally) unhealthy one. People in life and death situations, e.g. soldiers, develop a very strong emotional; almost psychic bond. I think that circumstances lead to Avon and Blake developing such a bond, but it was it was more a kind of Stockholm syndrome for Avon, as he needed to stay on the Liberator (and thus subject to Blake's will) for safety sake. It was to my mind, a twisted kind of codependency, Blake needed Avon's skills, and Avon hated the fact that he was dependent upon the safety of the Liberator (especially as Blake kept putting everyone's lives in danger for his cause). I think that the episode 'Terminal' has two possible explanations for the way Avon behaved. 1) Avon had developed a kind of Stockholm syndrome belief that Blake was his friend (and don't forget the 'great treasure' Blake had found) and was determined to rescue him from what he realised was a trap. 2) the explanation I favour. Avon was subjected to a similar (but improved) form of mind control, as that used on Blake in the episode 'A voice from the past'. The mind control signal being sent through either Orac or Zen even before the episode starts. (Avon was totally irrational throughout the episode, and would never in his right mind have put the Liberator in danger.) Avon has come to his senses by the time of the final episode 'Blake'. He only wants/needs Blake to use as a figurehead.
2:16 One of the coolest sequences in the series.
Was the song based on B7? It almost had to have been.
+MaskedMan66 Yes it was. It was written by Star 1, who named themselves after an episode in series 2.
Joe Tickle Which episode was that, then? ;-)
Star One was the title of the episode.
Jero Briggs Man, nobody appreciates facetiousness anymore!
Oh, didn't realize.
This is wonderful, a wonderful song, a wonderful show and a wonderful video capturing all the essence. What a great trip back through time. The music reminds me a little of 'Tank by Emerson Lake and Palmer', only a little though. Such power and passion. lol I loved it. Thank you :)
Great music video. Loved the show and the song. You did a great job at editing this video. Loved watching it.
cool
Thanks - two of my favourite things combined :)
After all these years I find it hard to watch that tragic mis-understanding of an ending.
well done ..!! dam awesome and fantastic,,now im gonna watch the full series again,,!!!.
I've been making clips since the 80's, back when it meant hooking up two VCR's and playing the music on an audiotape - this is a fabulous first attempt. Truly. I've seen seasoned vidders not do as well. Really well done, and does justice to the song and the TV show, too.
STAR ONE IS ONE THING AYREON ANOTHER!
Brilliant!
Power metal Blake's Seven filk. With a excellent fanvid to go with. Awesome....
Finally, a Blake's 7 video to this song! It was based on the show anyway, but this is perfect.
This is so great, I had no idea about this song til you posted this. Thanks, and a wonderful video too.
Wow - 3:40 onwards fits the song perfectly! Well done.
Fantastic video, perfect, but I have to know... WHERE CAN I GET A COPY OF THAT SONG??????
