MTV Iconic Adaptation Animation
Переглядів 1557 років тому
As part of the D&AD Student Awards 2006 entry, this iconic adaption video was based on a tongue-in-cheek feel playing around the idea of sacrifice. This video was done in collaboration with illustrator, Yvette Yang. Video was shot on DV camera, which was the norm among Uni students back in the good ol'days. Should have just painted a grout colour instead of real grout.
I want subway tiles in my kitchen and they have no texture. Also the seams are black. It's very popular in boho kitchens.
I have been looking and looking for something that looks good, is easy to do..and that a woman can do.And I have finally found it! Your wall is the prettiest that I have seen. Liked everything about what you did and how you did it. As I said I have looked and looked for videos on how to do this and I have to say yours is the best! Love love it!! Thank you!
thank u!
Super fantastic job!!! 👏🏾 I will add the cement lines to my next project thank you for the idea.

25 people can’t appreciate how well done this is 🤦🏻♂️ Oh, well - nicely done! You have an artistic explorer in you.
thank u :)
Can I add a thick layer of joint compound to make my wall thicker so that I don't hear my neighbours?
@@frostflower5555 You can thicken the layer of compound according to your liking. However, compound itself doesn't make the wall sound proof.
Great video! I've watched LOTS of brick look videos and yours is the most realistic. Thanks a bunch.
thank you for your kind comments :)
Why do you so many times cut the friking video.....
Assuming that i want to remove this after years. Is it possible?
If you plan to remove this, another alternative is to install wooden boards to the wall, and then create your faux brick wall on it. This way, when you want to change the feature in future, you just need to uninstall those wallboards easily.
@@mariafung-graphicdesignerw8059 Oh wow nice. Thank you!
Great tutorial. Thanks.
welcome!
SO AWESOME 👏🏾 I love this!
Is cement really necessary for the finishing touches? Is there an alternative to give that "cement look" finish?
You don't have to, but the edges at where the joint compound meets the wall may come off easily. so having the grout seals that. You can use joint compound itself and mix in some grey paint before grouting. But I still prefer the concrete look and feel.
@@mariafung-graphicdesignerw8059 thank you so much. I reckon I can try patting the compound down (around the edges) lightly after removing the tape to smooth it out so it won't chip off easily. You reckon that could work? The hardware store near us had closed down so getting cement is a 1 hour extra drive lol. Thanks again, this inspired me to make.some changes here at home.
@@Mr.Possums you can do that, but it's time-consuming for each brick (I did that, so it was a pain). What you can do is mix in some adhesive (the one used in my cement mix) to the joint compound and stir thoroughly before spreading onto the wall, that would lessen the chip-off. Otherwise, you can apply some adhesive at the back of the chipped corners and press them in. For cement, perhaps you can try ordering online? All the best!!
I just love it when you can make improvements to your home with “a rock I found on the street”!
absolutely! You can also use sandpaper to create textures
I did it!!!!!! I did it!!!!! I LOVE the effects!!!!!
fantastic! Would love to see it!
What type of tape did you use? I feel like it would break
OMG!!!!!!!😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you so much for the tutorial. Just a quick question: did you use all of the joint compound you bought? I'm just trying to estimate how much joint compound I'd need for my walls
Thanks Ami for your comments. I used about 95% of it. And it also depends on how thick you want your bricks to be. If you want the bricks to jut out more which mine doesn't really do, you may need to purchase another bucket. My blog contains all the info on the materials and step-by-step guide.
Oh that is so beautiful...ive been looking at so many brick videos..but I have textured walls..i cant peel them..i wonder what will happen when i try this.
thanks for your kind comments. Are your textured walls painted? If so, you can use a paint remover or sand it down with a sander. If you don't wish the trouble to remove the paint, another way is to puncture many holes into the wall so that bare concrete is exposed to allow greater adhesion. This is normally done for those choosing to stick veneer bricks onto painted walls. Again, this varies with the kind of wall you. Mine is a concrete wall. Drywall may need different treatment. There are some youtubers who apply the joint compound directly onto their painted drywall. But again, I would not recommend this step as paint comes off easily, and your joint compound bricks can fall off as a result.
You skipped a step.

Easy, Bestest and Amazing Brick Wall Decoration👌👌👌👌👌👌👌😍😍😍😍👏👏👏👏👏
thanks for the compliments :)
BEAUTIFUL JOB!! THANKS FOR SHARING THIS WONDERFUL PROJECT!! :-)
thanks!
Very creative, I like it!
Thanks Harlan Groom!
If let say, I don't want the bricks anymore, therefore how I remove it?
Hi, applying it directly to the wall will make it hard to remove the bricks. Another suggestion is to screw wood boards to the wall, then apply the joint compound from there, so that in future if you wanna remove it, you can unscrew them.
That's a great question!!
