UAB Players Reaction To The Decision to Cut Football-THE ORIGINAL VERSION

This video is the REAL authentic version taken by Tamar Mickens, shows the grim day of UAB president Ray Watts shutting the UAB Football Team after becoming bowl eligible for the first time in 10years. Notable speakers are Ty Long, Bobby Baker and Tristan Henderson.
I cringed.
Went from program cut to C-USA Champions
It's just a game.
You don’t know what you’re talking about, stick to chess.
You never played a sport
It's not just a game. It's something they worked hard for.
Shut up you don’t know what they are going through they have been working toward this there whole life
What I been talking about on my channel
Come back snowflake ❄️
They cut funding to auto class for football 🏈
That’s wild 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
That fat cat in the suit talking about how he cares and basically commanding he gets respect gets my blood boiling. Man F*** him and everything he stands for
wow
As an athlete this is just infuriating. This president was absolutely stupid to think the players would take it well. It just shows how uninvolved he really is. The fact that he provided no real explanation except “numbers” just makes it even worse. When pressed by the players, he gets incredibly defensive and has to defend his ego. He resorts to flexing his power on the players and minimizing them “I’ve been here 45 years and you’ve been here 5” and “quiet down or I’ll make you”. He eventually just runs away when he sees that he’s powerless. From a leadership perspective, this is so incredibly unacceptable. I hope that he isn’t at the University today.
That 27 year old man when he talked about his son asking if they are going to have a football team, I actually cried
This video is just pure human emotion. I’m not huge on football so I can’t really speak on their sport, but their passion and drive to make a program that they knew was dying work out the best they can only to have it end on them is devastating. They handled this awful news the best way they could. It destroys me to know these people who gave their hearts to this program just lost it all at the end. So upsetting man.
I predict that the 2020 tournament being cancelled will lead to this for Dayton basketball. Expos-esque.
he's dumb for this
Just comes off entitled. To play football is a privilege and that privilege is based on the schools ability to fund your activity. If the funds aren’t there then you’ll just be another student like everyone else, but with a full ride scholarship.
Can't even imagine how hard it was to see your program climb higher, only to watch it fall down. Glad to see UAB is back though.
A fifth year senior? Bum
Cry
That “bum” went on to play for the chargers and I believe he still plays for them😂
Gotta love in the end walking out he makes sure to wave off in the distance like it’s his big PR moment.
Many underfunded schools need to get rid of ppl like him & the admins-they waste to much money on bureaucracy bs-schools don’t focus on the right things
Welcome to the AAC. UAB football!!!!
What were they clapping about in the beginning?
This just goes to show how little the administration cares about the student atheletes. This guy should lose his job for being a horrible administrator. He should also lose all his retirement benefits.
never really understood the brotherhood football players have until watching this. this shit is fuckin heart breaking to watch.
Bill Clark is a legend
Jake Paul really was letting those big wigs have it at the beginning
And they just won a bowl game
...and then they beat #13 BYU in a bowl game!
7 years later they have a bowl win against a top 15 team. Incredible
Lol...another Bowl win in 2021 over BYU
From no team to beating the #12 BYU Cougars in 5 years, what an amazing turnaround
Wild. Just beat BYU
There beating byu right now
I mean do they think a decision of that magnitude is made by one person at the University? Giving this man such a hard time I guarantee you he didn't want to be the one to break that news.
As a football athlete I felt this heavy, especially the gentleman who served in the military
They should’ve said “we’ll pay for up to a doctorates degree in any field you choose” me personally if he said that I would’ve been happy af
This actually happened to my college in 2015. They shut down the whole college but we didn’t get a chance to say what we wanted.
Why did the guy hold a meeting with a bunch of riled up kids and not just release a public statement or something lol? Absolutely pointless to have an in person meeting with the team.
I have chills running down my back listening to this. Old video but it still is horrible
I'm so proud of these young men..the team..the family... the suit doesn't know what it takes to be where these guys are...he sees only numbers.... I hope they are all doing well!!!
What a bunch of crybabies. No wonder they were playing for UAB.
Nigga what
Oof.
They fucking clapped for the dude ouch
old whites doing old whites things
Just so you know, some of the people who voted to end the football program were black. So don't say this was a white person's thing.
And now UAB has two conference championships in the last 3 years and will be opening their brand new stadium this Saturday.
All of those guys in that room have a passion for football hence why they are where they are. Taking not just football, but opportunities to be in the NFL away, really hurt them. These guys only know football.
1:56 we play rugby
Memphis should be embarrassed and pissed that Birmingham, a worse off city economically, could find the support and afford to build a new Stadium and they can't. UAB is gonna end up in a P5 conference before Memphis will at this rate. So much for Fred Smith and FedEx backing the UofM. 😡 BTW UAB, nice stadium.👍
It's UAB home field playing stadium. It's a city of Birmingham multi-purpose stadium.
Thanks for posting. It’s an impressive site as you exit 20/59 at BJCC/Carraway/31. Can’t wait to see it from the inside.
Bear Bryants son is who was hired by Alabama to lead the charge in shutting down UAB. UAB is becoming a huge market in the state and it's full of UAB fans. This was nothing more than Alabama attacking the UAB program for their own benefits. I solely believe that UAB could become a direct competitor with Alabama and Auburn.
